Ricecracker Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 For those of you who have been to Chicago, the store is about the same size as the Northbrooke store. It's at the south-east end of the mall. They've got a nice selection of new sets. I still haven't heard a definite soft opening date, but it'll be the 10th at the earliest. For those going to the Grand Opening, I'll be volunteering Saturday, so come say hi. Quote
ZO6 Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 For those going to the Grand Opening, I'll be volunteering Saturday, so come say hi. I hope to see you there, Ricecracker (and others)! If they've got the MMV, then that's what I aim to pick up (yeah, I don't know how I've put off buying it all this time...) And for those interested, TRU.ca has got more of the Alien Conquest sets listed, along with the summer wave of Kingdoms, Atlantis, plus some more City stuff (Marina, Space Center). Quote

The Legonater Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 For those of you in Winnepeg searching for Minifigs series 4, the Chapters at St. Vital just got two new boxes in. Quote
EverettYA Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 The Lego store in Calgary is awaiting a new shipment of series 4, but they have LOADS of Series 3 Collectible Minifigures. EverettYA Quote

legomaniac83 Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 (edited) I hope to be there on Friday at 11 after I drop the misses of at work. Looking forward to see some fellow "Eurobrickers" there! Unfortunately I will miss the Minfigs giveaway on Sat as I will be out of town. Should be a good time, nonetheless. Edited May 10, 2011 by legomaniac83 Quote
AwesomeTaylor Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 I honestly have no idea. Hmmmm, I guess if I go at all it will have to be super early. I'd hate to miss out if they have the one with the pink smiley face on the chest! Quote

Hopefully they'll have the Blacksmith Shop, or some Alien Conquest stuff I can burn money I don't have on. I've gotten over wanting the minifigures, I think, because they're not super-specific. Besides, having rare stuff [if these even end up being even remotely valuable] feels like responsibility. Like my Shadow ARF guy... should I have opened it? Should I have sold it? Eh, too late now, he's part of the collection. Anyway, Friday. Party time. Quote
AwesomeTaylor Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 They DO have the one with the pink smiley face on the chest! Oh lord, I'm gonna have the charge the iPad and get there stupid-early :( Quote

Eh, too late now, he's part of the collection. Anyway, Friday. Party time. Are you talking about THIS set? I asked in another thread how far back Lego stores went back for holding onto sets and I was told they only have what's available in the regular Lego catelogue, nothing as old as that. There's a possibility I could be going to the US in early June and I have a HUGE list of Lego sets I want to get there. Problem is I won't be staying long enough that I can get all of them without going over the limit without having to pay duty for bringing it back to Canada (nor can I probably afford to spend such a huge amount of money all at once). Gonna have to prioritize which sets I want most and the cost too. Damnit Lego... Edited May 11, 2011 by Canada_7 Quote
IAmWillGibson Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 (edited) Are you talking about THIS set? No, blurgh. The Blacksmith Attack set. And when it comes to LEGO, I prefer to think that the US doesn't exist at all, because I get very depressed when I think about the huge price gap. Edited May 11, 2011 by IAmWillGibson Quote

I was just looking at shop@home, and all the new Alien Conquest sets were available, and as for Kingdoms, all the new sets were available except for the Blacksmith one. But they will probably have all of them at the store. Quote
legomaniac83 Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I am hoping to find a few hard to find Polybag sets, or maybe the small CARS sets. After dishing out the cash for 10219, my wallet is empty Quote
Canada_7 Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 So I went to Sherway Gardens earlier today and the new Lego store IS OPEN. I asked a CSR when did they open up, he said that originally the soft opening was gonna wait until Wednesday, but they finished things up early so they opened up their doors sometime Tuesday afternoon. Tomorrow (Friday) is the beginning of their grand opening stuff. Today was the first time I was ever in an "official" Lego store. It's not a big store but to see all these sets was just quite a sight. They had a number of the big sets that they had built and were on display. It was cool to see sets like Tower Bridge, Death Star, Grand Emporium, Medieval Market Village, and Shuttle Adventure in person and already built. Yes, the new modular building Pet Shop is also available for sale. I was super tempted just to buy things even if they were full price just because of the availability. Held myself back...might be going to New York or somewhere in the US to do some shopping so I told myself wait until you get a chance to buy the sets cheaper over there. Quote

Ricecracker Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Ummmm...excuse me...but uuuuh...no mention of the Pick a Brick selection???? Please???? The PaB is nothing special yet, mostly basic brick and plate, and flower stems. I've heard that they're going to set up a way to be kept informed when new stock is added to the wall. Quote

Knew I forgot to check something...I did see there was the pick-a-brick wall but I completely did not look at what kind of pieces they had. Should have known being on this site I would be asked that, my bad . The only thing I could really say is that to no surprise, each of the containers they had was full as the store had just recently opened. Sorry, was just sort of in awe seeing some of the other sets actually built and in person. Quote

Ogre Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Can't decide if I want to go this weekend, or not. If yes, I'd want to be there on Sat. for the minifigs...BUT...I don't want to get up at 4am to travel on the TTC for two hours and still be #305 in line, or some such thing. Plus, all the stuff that I want will be on sale later, anyway. Plus, I don't really NEED that R2-D2 brick. Plus, the PAB wall probably sucks right now. Plus, I might have the chance to work some overtime on Saturday. BUT... IT'S LEGO!!!! AND IT'S THE FIRST LEGO STORE IN TORONTO!!!! Ugh. Decisions, decisions... Quote

Ditto. I just moved from about 30 minutes away from Sherway Gardens to back home (approx. 2 hours away) for the summer. As much as I'd like to get there nice and early on Saturday, I just somehow don't see it happening. I'll most likely have to trek out there some other time within the next week. This is one of those times that I wish the store was set up more Downtown. I always put off hiking out to the Lasting Toys store because it's so far South West from where I live, but now the official Lego store has to be out there too. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers. At least we've got an official store in the province now - we're making good progress - from 0 to 2 stores in the country in a year! I might hopefully see some of you on the weekend if I put up with the journey. Quote
ManitobaMoe Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Well i drove all the way from manitoba to calgary to hit the grand opening there and i dont regret it at all. Was cool to be the second person to walk into the first lego store in canada and i only went 2 hrs early to be the second in line. But boy, was there ever a lot of people behind me Quote
sok117 Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 I went to the lego store today, just looked around and bought a few things. The pick a brick wall was really basic, nothing to jump for joy for. I was surprised to see the new modular building there. I plan on going again this weekend to meet up with some fellow eurobrickers, but I don't plan on getting the figures. Quote
