I disagree. I think Toronto could easily handle three LEGO stores...one east, one west and one downtown (Eaton Centre). Chicago has something like, what, FOUR stores? Plus the Discovery Centre? Yeah, I think Toronto (3 million+ people) can handle more than ONE store.

I agree...when you think malls like West Edmonton Mall can handle multiple stores within the SAME mall...certainly multiple stores within a City that serves 3M+ people plus tourists can certainly handle another Lego store...especially given the size of the stores being something that wouldn't cost the same to operate as a TRU...and given that there really is an absence of toy related stores downtown...I think it would be a great addition...not that I'm thinking self-servingly at all or anything... :cry_happy:

I don't disagree with this, except suggested locations. There's no mall east that I can see them in, and not really the Eaton Centre either. Maybe I'm wrong here, but I don't think that's the right kind of mall for a LEGO store. I sorta always assumed they positioned themselves in the more upscale malls. Although maybe I'm wrong, because I can't remember what Fairview's like. But Sherway is definitely a jerk mall. And north is where the money is, too.

Did that add anything to the conversation? No, I believe it did not.

Fairview's turned into a 'jerk mall', too. Mostly 'upscale fashion' stores. Blech.

I miss Rainbow Cinemas! :cry_sad:

They changed everything after they left.

I think Yorkdale would be good...convenient to me too...but what say do we have to the Corporate TLG planners?

Yorkdale would be good, but I think Yorkdale is a bit too close to Sherway, but I wouldn't complain if they did.

I was thinking a similar store demographic as Sherway with Sears and Holt Renfrew amongst the usual trendy clothing shops is similar to Sherway, and positions it closer to the Northern burbs...

away from Ontario's lego store discussion for a minute but I was @ Superstore last night and they had two cars lego sets, they had maters spyzone $19.99,and the set with the boat $24.99

and Walmart had the ultimate build mater, I opened the case on the skid full of boxes  just to see what it looked like, but didnt see a price

Closer north in 905 area would be good. Fairview wouldn't be bad, just off the 404 for those coming from Newmarket area.

I think most people are a little bit biased on where they want the lego store, they just want it closer to them  , good thing sherway is close to me!

Hello! I would like to buy some weapons from Brickarms through BrickRepublic.com, but before I do that, I would like to know some experiences others had with them...

The biggest thing I want to know is their shipping rate and tax fee..

I don't really get all of the complaints about the Sherway location. Sure, for east-enders and down-town folks the location may be less than ideal, but I think some of you are forgetting that there is a fairly large population just west of Toronto. A good portion of the GTA (Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughn) can be found on the west side. That being said, I think that Fairview is an ideal location for a second store simply because it serves the east side of Toronto. It's not like many folks from Brampton or Mississauga will be making the trek across the 401 to Fairview.

Personally I'm thrilled that a store opened at Sherway as it is actually a manageable drive for me. I'm also happy that some of you folks living in the east end will be able to share that joy when the Fairview store opens however the suggestion that Toronto's first LEGO Store should have opened at Fairview instead of Sherway seems like nothing more than sour grapes.

For my opinion of the location, here it is: I'm central. Like, as central as possible [Yonge and Bloor, essentially] so maybe my vote don't mean bupkis. But the distance from me to Sheway vs Fairview is almost the same. One uses the bus, which is a negative score, but the other uses the Purple Line, which is also negative 'cause that subway line's existence confuses me, and I get angry when confused.

So, yeah, distance or ease of getting-to for me is a wash. Fairview's not a bad mall, but truth be told Sherway is a much better stylistic fit. I am not in the least surprised that they picked that mall to start in.

I just amde an order about a month ago, and it was great. I forgot how much exactly I bought, but it was a lot of WW2 stuff, and it only came to around 5 bucks with shipping and taxes- it was a really good deal. I plan to get that minigun when it comes out default_wubnew.gif

Was there any duty on the order?

Yea...I'm just thinking of getting a Brickarms Mystery Pack...so it will probably cost less than 20 dollars eh?

Get it only if you want random coloured weapons. I personally wouldn't order one since I'd have no use at all for trans weapons.

I've got 2 orders from B&N and 1 from TRU that are shipping through Canada Post. I really hope they don't lose my stuff..

There were 3 total orders I made from TRU a few days ago. All were made on the same day, 2 were processed and shipped with Purolator which will likely be received tomorrow. However, there was one other order that they took longer to process but when they finally did process and ship, they chose to use Canada Post. With the strike looming possibly Thursday midnight, I really have to question their decision making here.

Hello Canadians!

I'm coming back to Canada NEXT WEEK! Unbelievable. But I plan to check out the Sherway store if I can, though I'll be staying east of T.O.

Out of curiosity to you who've been there, a few questions:

-does the store simply sell everything at the Lego.com rate?

-do they have anything special there?

-is it even worth going to if there isn't a sale?

-is there a place online to see specials?

Thanks.
