Out of curiosity to you who've been there, a few questions:

-does the store simply sell everything at the Lego.com rate?

-do they have anything special there?

-is it even worth going to if there isn't a sale?

-is there a place online to see specials?

Good to see you coming home again, Def. :sweet:

-Pretty much, though they do have sets like Brickley. If there's anything in particular you're looking for, PM me.

-PaB, BaM, etc. as well as most high-priced sets on display.

-Yes, if just for the experience of being at a LEGO store. They do often have small sales/deals.

-I don't think so.

I don't disagree with this, except suggested locations. There's no mall east that I can see them in, and not really the Eaton Centre either. Maybe I'm wrong here, but I don't think that's the right kind of mall for a LEGO store. I sorta always assumed they positioned themselves in the more upscale malls. Although maybe I'm wrong, because I can't remember what Fairview's like. But Sherway is definitely a jerk mall. And north is where the money is, too.

Did that add anything to the conversation? No, I believe it did not.

If this is true then Yorkdale could surely have one. Can I say, “2 hour long lines to get into stores on Boxing Day”. *huh*

I would have imagined that Yorkdale would have been the first place to put one. Being centered above the city and just off the 401 with TTC access I would imagine that you couldn’t get a better location.

Good to see you coming home again, Def. :sweet:

Thanks.

I'm not really shopping for much. I bought a Grand Emporium, the 1932 Fire Station, The Temple of Doom in the last two weeks, and the missus was... tolerant of it. Actually, the Temple I kept a secret.

But, the Pharaoh's Quest and Aliens Attack aren't available here right now, so I'll at least consider some of those. The Alien's Attack battle pack seems worth buying.

Welcome back to Canada, def. Do you have anything to declare? :classic:

Is it a visit or full return?

I declare it'll be a lot more fun to visit in the summer than at Christmas!

Just a visit though. I'mm coming to renew my driver's license. It expired two years and 10 months ago, and after three years, you need to do all the tests again, so it's worth the money to come back.

See you guys at the Sherway Gardens food court

I think a wise move on LEGO's part would be to try to secure a spot in Yorkdale's current expansion, if they're looking for another location, that is.

@Def: I forgot to mention, the store also has a ton of series 3 and 4 figs, with the series 3 figs marked down.

I think the battle pack is only available in the EU right now...can't get it in Canada yet that I've seen...I would love to get some.

Okay guys, 2011 summer star wars sets have popped up nearly all over the world by now, except in North America. No one knows where or when they will strike first, but it is our duty as Canadians to watch out and keep each other informed of possible locations of the sets. When you see 'em, please let us all know. Where counting on you!

$2.99 for series 3 and $3.49 for series 4. Series 4 is marked up from the older series, not series 3 being marked down.

I'm always on the lookout for new SW sets, but it is pretty much guaranteed that the new summer sets won't hit Canada till august, but the US will get them in July, likely.

I was gonna say something smart megablocks-y

sok117 only meant STAR WARS sets.

but it seems kinda redundant now. I'll also keep an eye out for SW sets though, and be sure to report back ASAP! :sweet:

I think I'll go to Sherway Gardens store either next weekend or the one after. Anyone interested in a Sherway AFOL/TFOL meet up? People would have to be at least over 16, since I'm 35, and feel creepy hanging out with kids...

Ya, and could you also see if they have any 1x4 grey (light or dark) bricks?

Is that the 11th or 18th? I look kind of young though.

Cool. I have to arrive and start to figure out my schedule that sounds good. Let's see if we can gather five or six people

I don't really get all of the complaints about the Sherway location. Sure, for east-enders and down-town folks the location may be less than ideal, but I think some of you are forgetting that there is a fairly large population just west of Toronto. A good portion of the GTA (Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughn) can be found on the west side. That being said, I think that Fairview is an ideal location for a second store simply because it serves the east side of Toronto. It's not like many folks from Brampton or Mississauga will be making the trek across the 401 to Fairview.

Personally I'm thrilled that a store opened at Sherway as it is actually a manageable drive for me. I'm also happy that some of you folks living in the east end will be able to share that joy when the Fairview store opens however the suggestion that Toronto's first LEGO Store should have opened at Fairview instead of Sherway seems like nothing more than sour grapes.

I'm in the east end but, I thought Toronto's first LEGO store should have been more 'central', such as the Eaton Centre.

I'm 16, but I don't think it would be comfortable for either of us if I tagged along  , may just drop by and say hi then be on my merry way.
