The Legonater Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Did anyone else realize that licensed 'battlepack' sized sets are 2 dollars cheaper, making it $13 these days? Aren't they usually $12? Quote

Si-MOCs Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 (edited) Hey Def, I'll def(inately) come out and meet you guys. We just had the Toronto LUG dinner on Friday, but I'm always up for a good TFOL/AFOL meet & greet. I'll even bring the Moulder Machine so people can play with (it was a big hit the other night). And Fives - I believe they do have 1x4 lgt bley bricks - at least they did on Friday :P Just let me know when -- Edit: Just skimming through this thread for the first time (I'm a new, what can I say?). and thre's a lot of discussion of the Distance of Sherway - yes it's far for east/downtown people - but has anyone considered flipping this into an oppurtunity? My favorite store activity is PAB stacking - but that's lame by yourself - anyone interested in carpooling / want a ride over there (I'm near college station)? If I'm going to go I might as well drag someone with me so I don't look nearly as bad :P Edited June 13, 2011 by SI-mocs Quote

Hey Simon, Unfortunately that meet up had to be cancelled. I guess the LUG meetings will have to suffice for now. Quote
Si-MOCs Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Awww that's too bad. I wanted an excuse to go to store again... (I went through about 1000 green bricks on the weekend, need more!) I guess I'll just have to meet all the new people @ Brickfête or run into them @ the Store. :) Quote

Nice offer and I'm close by...but usually don't have the time to make it there without coming from closer to Don Mills. I need to curb my brick spending in anticipation of a US vacation. Am I the only person that's kind of annoyed that CDN TRU sales at either BOGO 50% off or 20% sales are still more than the US TRU REGULAR price, and Lego.com S@H prices? Factor in the exchange rate, and it's a completely wacked out pricing model. I'm hoping to score a deal on the Earth Defence HQ and the City of Atlantis. Quote

Yeah if Fairview does open up a store, I'll head to that all the time - though the Sherway guys are pretty nice - I'll probably drop by and check out the PAB/talk to them once in awhile. Oh I've done the calculations many times between USD/CAD pricing and for the most part doesn't work out in our favour. But it could be worse - Denmark - ironically - 50% of their sets is just slightly cheaper than US (though you do have the built in VAT, so maybe more like 35%) So it actually the Billund Employee Store kinda sucked (for sets). So yeah I'm with ya - when I go to the states I lug back as much LEGO as my wittle arms can carry. And I think I have one more LEGO shopping extravaganza left in me this year, I'll probably pick up all the remaining sets I want this year with my brickfete discount and call it quits. I've blown this year's LEGO budget by a far margin... I'd seek professional help - but I spent the money on LEGO. Quote

Thinking that Barnes & Noble is the way to go, after the killer deal I got on 'Kings Castle' ($80...including tax & shipping, after 30% off coupon). I'd seek professional help - but I spent the money on LEGO. New tagline? Quote

No kidding...TRU in the USA right now has a BOGO 50% off ALL lego right now. That means that could work out to you could get any 2 of Grand Emporium, Fire Brigade, or Diagon Alley (plus a gift of the Creator Lighthouse polybag that they're running right now) for $242 already with tax in TOTAL (shipping is free also since it's over $100). I wanted to order them to some US depot storage in Niagara just across the border where they provide an US address to send your stuff and also hold onto and then pick it up some time later. Problem was that I hadn't set up a US address with the CC I was using (which I couldn't get done until the next business day, but this was at like 1am EST earlier today). By the time I could get it done, all 3 of those sets were gone. Quote

Thanks for the heads up! gonna see if I can manage to get some from the states! but yeah, it's so sad that even their regular price is better than our 'good' sales. Quote
Toadtorrent Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 but yeah, it's so sad that even their regular price is better than our 'good' sales. Yup...regular US price is our 25% off price. I was pricing 2 mid priced sets (Atlantis City and the Earth Defence HQ), and essentially you save about $75...even with the CDN sale price. I'm not planning on heading to the US for another month or so...hopefully there's a sale on at that time, as I don't want to ship anything there quite yet. Quote
appleb Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 (edited) The Sherway store has started selling the new Brick Calendar about a week ago: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=853195-1. They are $15.95 each. I also noticed they replaced all the Castle and Kingdom sets with Cars 2. I don't think Medieval Market Village will be returning. Edited June 17, 2011 by appleb Quote

You didn't by any chance notice any interesting additions to the Pick a Brick wall did you? Maybe some gray tiles instead of just lime, red and brown? Quote
Si-MOCs Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 I was pricing 2 mid priced sets (Atlantis City and the Earth Defence HQ),... I think it's funny how the 'mid price' sets are now over $100 ;) re: Grey tiles - I did not notice any last Friday I was there, off the top of my head I think they had the following bricks: 1x1 , 2x4 dark bluish grey ,and 1x4 light bley. and I believe 4x4 plate... can't remember if it was black or dark bley... i was in a rush and didn't have much time. I heard they were getting new elements this week - likely some bley. Quote

Hah...sad but true given the modulars at $149+, UCS sets, etc. >sigh< In USD, $69 and $89 make the City and HQ sets mid-priced compared to the $120 ones. ;) Yeah...I remember the 4x4 plates (they had them in blue, black and tan if I remember correctly), and said they would be getting wheels in soon, but I can't imagine they'll be getting any interesting wheels given that I have a pretty good collection already. Thanks for the response though. Quote

I think I saw a bin of 4x4 gray tiles but I could be wrong. The only Pick a Brick item that really interested me were some coloured 2x2 slopes and the 1x3 black slopes. Quote

Well, that's pretty stupid, considering what July's promo is. Sheesh. Just about killed all my purchase ideas. Crap. *edit* Talked to a super helpful lady at the SG store last night. 'Kingdoms' is still in stock. Nothing has disappeared, they just took stuff off display, to make room for the 'Cars 2' displays. She said that for July, the 'Kingdoms' display would be expanded (probably due to the promotion). *breathing sigh of relief* *edit 2* Has anyone else noticed the price for "Pig Farm & Tractor" on S@H? $14.99!!! In case you don't recall, it was selling for $49.99 and went on sale for $24.99. So, if you were 'on the fence' about this, it might be a great time to pick it up. Edited June 18, 2011 by Ogre Quote
