Si-MOCs Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 They are actually renovating STC to be on par with Fairview. Every single mall is doing that now Indeed - Fairview is a good example. That used to be sketch city. Though I think the most logical choice after Sherway and Fairview would be Eaton Center (which itself is undergoing a $100M+ renovation). And Rook - I totally remember DopeWars :D Quote
prateek Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 (edited) Indeed - Fairview is a good example. That used to be sketch city. I used to love Fairview Mall. It's still nice, but now it's kinda snob central. But it is hilarious seeing the random weirdo walk by. I really miss Rainbow Cinemas... Edited July 23, 2011 by prateek Quote
Ogre Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I thought the Sherway store was called "Sherway store" ? But "Scarbrough" or "North York" would work. unless the 3rd store is also in Scarbrough (say at Scarbrough Town). Anyone else find it poorly thought out to put the store next to the food court... where kids could be all messy from eating then touching the PAB bins?!?!? heh, I finally got my catalog... Yeah, I'm thinking that 'next to the food court' isn't the best idea. STILL no catalogue for me! Called Canada Post and complained, AGAIN...to no avail, of course. "There's nothing we can do." Really? Then how about you sad-sack pieces of garbage get OUT of the mail delivery business, since it's quite obvious that you are incapable of DELIVERING the mail!!! Sheesh. Emailed LEGO. They sent a new catalogue and Club magazine out to me. Should arrive next week. See, Canada Post? THAT is customer service! Obviously LEGO CARES about THEIR customers! I used to love Fairview Mall. It's still nice, but now it's kinda snob central. But it is hilarious seeing the random weirdo walk by. I really miss Rainbow Cinemas... Waaaaaaaaaaay back in the day, Fairview was a great mall...totally 'middle class', with something for everyone. Then, in the 80s, it got renovated and became a little more 'upscale', in the same vein as Promenade Mall, though not quite as 'snobby'. Now though. Ugh. MUCH more 'nose in the air'...and STC is going the same route. Trying to attract the business from all the condos that are being built around both malls now, I guess. Quote
Fives Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Does anyone know if the new Star Wars sets on on shelves here yet? Quote
Rook Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 (edited) Been looking almost daily and haven’t seen any on the east end yet. Hopefully Thursday! Edited July 25, 2011 by Rook Quote
Toadtorrent Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 (edited) Woohoo...TRU.com in the US has their BOGO 50% off sale on ALL Lego with FREE shipping. Not so Canadian...but I'm going there soon and just ordered a Grand Emporium and Alien Conquest Mobile HQ...not maximizing the discount I know...but it wouldn't let me get 2 Grand Emporiums, and I didn't want to spend the extra for the Imperial Flagship...hey...take what you can get. Si-MOCs Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Just checked TRU @ Yonge and Eglignton and they had the Pod Racer set (last copy - $120) didn't see any other new stuff there. I also checked out Chapters/Indigo and they had several sets for 30% off - Republican Shuttle, Echo Base, a few LEGO games, construct a Buzz and a few duplo/ben 10- sets (most stuff out by front, SW stuff up in the kids area). IAmWillGibson Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I'm fairly certain Yonge and Eglinton TRU had all the new Star Wars sets on... Friday, I think? I didn't get any, 'cause that stuff is expensive, but they had them. Quote

ZO6 Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Woohoo...TRU.com in the US has their BOGO 50% off sale on ALL Lego with FREE shipping. Anyone else getting really grated about the number of BOGO 50% off sales (and variations) the US has been getting over the past months? They seem to be getting one every other week! We haven't gotten really any sales in a few weeks, little own good ones like that (all I've seen in TRU ads is "New Lego sets available blahblah"). It's bad enough we pay way more for Lego here than in the States even though our dollar is at par/better, can't we get some decent sales too!? Quote

dr_spock Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 No catalogue yet. Just lots of bills. Catalogue and Lego Club Magazine have arrived together today. Finally some decent mail.. Walmart has the Furno Bike for $20. Quote

I think it's the product of the poor US economy :-/ They're not doing too well down there so TRU is probably hurting. I guess it's probably better to move some inventory at lower margin than not selling anything at 'regular' margin. I guess we should be 'grateful' that our economy is doing 'okay' (And yes, the sales are really irritating ) What? I was just at the Eaton one, and there were no discount promotions Sorry it must be a local thing - I was at the Yonge and Eglington one. If you want I can check stock tomorrow and report back what they have before you make the trip. Quote
Rook Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 (edited) Talked to a Lego staffer that stocked my local TRU today with the new SWU sets! She said she stocked several other locations this week too. So got two of the new sets! Edited July 27, 2011 by Rook Quote
