tedbeard Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 ...I'll be with my mother (wife) my eldest daughter and Grandson... Hey, nobody needs to know about your alternative lifestyle. ;) Quote
legodac Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 That's pretty funny Tedbeard, though I only meant my wife is 10 years older than me and she also tends to mother me. For Si-mocs, well let's see, from series 3 I'm missing #5 snow boarder with helmet, #12 monkey with banana and #13 bug eyed alien. From series four I'm missing almost as much as I have. I still need #2 Japanese lady with fan, #3 the 5th musketeer, #9 four eyes with a skateboard, #10 Sailor with mono-spyglass, #13 pumpkin colored spaceman, #14 Leonardo Divinci, #15 ice capades lady, and #16 the mad scientist with beaker. I'll have my traders with me as well, and if you have them all, I will have other surprises to trade , like a few BNSF Engines and many other kits as well, See you all tomorrow morning eh Quote

tedbeard Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Lego toleraters. I think "enablers" may be more accurate. Quote
dr_spock Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Mine is more like a boss. Does she regulate the Lego? Quote
Ricecracker Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 For Si-mocs, well let's see... Please keep this to PMs. Thanks. Quote
legodac Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Sorry Ricecracker, I see your point, I will next time. Quote
Si-MOCs Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Can't wait to see (some) of you guys today. I'll be on the second floor - in the SCI-FI section. I'll be in Red! (not to be confused with the other guy in red near the viking ship-train) Quote
medib Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Well, Brickfete has officially arrived. Fortunately my MOCs made the trip to the big T.O. without too much damage in transit. It looks like it's going to be a good weekend. You having a large "rental" van to move your lego around in probably helped greatly. Quote
blueandwhite Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 You having a large "rental" van to move your lego around in probably helped greatly. Indeed. It didn't do many favours for my wallet though. Fortunately I recouped the damage by winning the King's Castle and the Quest against Time sets in Sunday's draw. The parts from the speed build were an added bonus. I've thrown up most of my photos from the weekend on flickr. It seemed like an appropriate time to open an account. Now I just need to sit down and do a proper photo shoot of my castle. Quote

(not to be confused with the other guy in red near the viking ship-train) Would you perhaps be the fellow with the 'alien robot assembly plant' that the kids were going NUTS over? If so...you sir, are one seriously awesome builder. Indeed. It didn't do many favours for my wallet though. Was quite miffed to discover they only allow 200 pics per 'non-paying' account. I had to chop some gems. No fancy camera here, just a digital "point and shoot"... Toadtorrent Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 (edited) Would you perhaps be the fellow with the 'alien robot assembly plant' that the kids were going NUTS over? Yup...that was Si-mocs alright...amazing MOC that was...fantastic. Clever, fun, beautiful, and an impressive collection of alien robots!!! Edited August 1, 2011 by Toadtorrent Quote
Ogre Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Yup...that was Si-mocs alright...amazing MOC that was...fantastic. Clever, fun, beautiful, and an impressive collection of alien robots!!! Indeed. The rest of his collection was equally impressive...and I noticed he spent lots of time answering the seemingly ENDLESS questions from the kids. Very cool. Quote
ZO6 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Wow, thanks for linking to those pics, Ogre! Really wish I'd been able to make it out to Brickfete. Looks like there were loads of amazing creations, must've been a great time! Quote
Toadtorrent Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 ...and I noticed he spent lots of time answering the seemingly ENDLESS questions from the kids. ...uuuh...and Noob AFOLs. A true ambassador...his Great Wall MOC was equally striking but without the novelty of the conveyor belt. Quote
blueandwhite Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 ...uuuh...and Noob AFOLs. A true ambassador...his Great Wall MOC was equally striking but without the novelty of the conveyor belt. Conveyor belts make everything cooler . Seriously, all of Si-mocs' work was amazing. The kids passing through on Saturday couldn't get enough of it. Quote
legodac Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 He was very busy and very talented. Ricecrackers were amazing as well and it was an honor to meet him, as a few others too. I also took a great deal of pictures, 180 about, though it was so busy that a lot of shots got the odd face, arm or something else in the pic. Btw, did anyone purchase the Event kit of the moose, the instructions were unreadable, though I must admit, I only spent 10 minutes trying to decipher them. My wife spent half an hour and managed to build half a moose. Quote

Looks like there were loads of amazing creations, must've been a great time! You're welcome. Some absolutely STUNNING creations. Pics just don't do many of them justice, at ALL. My only regret? Not being able to make it for all four days! Conveyor belts make everything cooler . Seriously, all of Si-mocs' work was amazing. The kids passing through on Saturday couldn't get enough of it. *cough* Um, yeah...the 'kids'. He was very busy and very talented. My wife spent half an hour and managed to build half a moose. No, I didn't grab a moose and that's my other regret of the day. Should have snagged one, just to have a momento of our first ever LEGO convention. (though I DID snag a button, key chain and train cargo container, so it wasn't a complete loss) Quote
Si-MOCs Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Thanks everyone for the kind words, It was great meeting some of you, and chatting with everyone: young, old, noob, and vet! I just love talking about LEGO! And thanks everyone to coming out and supporting Canada's first LEGO Con! Speaking of Moose and hard to put together, even Dan -Brickmania had problems, so everyone is in good company And yeah... I think I'll finally have to upgrade my flickr account to get 200+ pics - though I didn't get many pictures Quote
prateek Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Build a free Lego plane at TRU on Saturday from noon - 2 pm. Anyone mind getting me a pack, since I'll be out of the country Quote
Toadtorrent Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Anyone mind getting me a pack, since I'll be out of the country Last time I did one like this, they weren't packs, but big buckets of sorted bricks. You get print out instructions and it's a bit chaotic as you grab bricks following the instructions to make the end product...so you can actually get a few more bricks than what's officially allowed. ;) Quote
prateek Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 At my TRU, they make little baggies with all the necessary parts, but they still have those bins. Quote
Ogre Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Heads up, my fellow 'cultists'! The Cult of LEGO Quote
IAmWillGibson Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Build a free Lego plane at TRU on Saturday from noon - 2 pm. Anyone mind getting me a pack, since I'll be out of the country Ooh, these are always fun, but such a warzone sometimes. Around Halloween they had baggies mad up, which was simple and fast, but then so was the model [more of a pumpkin cookie than anything else]. The Mother's Day flower was a much more satisfying model [and really quite huge, all things considered] but it was insane with all the grabbing little hands all over the place, and the bricks weren't out yet, and me standing there like a knob, clearly the oldest dude in the room. Aw well, free LEGO! The plane looks little, but pretty neat. I will definitely try and make it tomorrow. Quote
