Canada_7 Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 (edited) I mentioned this here, and figured I'd post in here too: I called the Lego store at Sherway Gardens and asked them about Christmas set #2 (3300002). It starts on the 25th (Black Friday in the US, Brick Friday in Canada). Same conditions as the first set - Spend $99 or more and receive set #2. One per customer per purchase while supplies last. I'll be there bright and early on the 25th Just wondering, but did they also tell you how long it'll last for Canada? Is it just 3 days also? Any Canadians out there order from the amazon.fr site? I'm looking at the 7939 Cargo Train since it's a good price, but I'm curious as to what kind of customs/duties that I will be charged. Récapitulatif de commande Articles : EUR 91,51 Livraison : EUR 10,59 Montant total : EUR 102,10 I think they ship via DHL? DHL Customs Brokerage Service For Canada DHL Canada has implemented a disbursement charge for all air shipments requiring customs brokerage service. The fee applies when funds for duties and taxes are not provided in advance for DHL. The disbursement fee will be 2.5% of the value of the labels provided (excluding the shipping charge), or a minimum charge of $7.00 CAD. The disbursement fee covers part of DHL's administrative and financing costs relating to the amounts they pay customs on your behalf. This fee does not include the applicable GST or province tax. I saw this on another site also but I remember reading possible hidden fees. I'm afraid of how bad the brokerage charges are, and also remember seeing on the internet of some people after ordering something from Amazon.fr got sent some invoice thing for additional fees; some paid it while some just ignored it. Can't remember the whole jist of it. I'm tempted to order some stuff myself but it's uncharted territory and I don't want to be charged a whole bunch of additional fees when my item comes. legomaniac83 Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Just wondering, but did they also tell you how long it'll last for Canada? Is it just 3 days also? I didn't ask and they didn't say. I assume they will be handing them out as long as they have them and you are spending $99 or more. (since they are still giving out #1). Quote
winbrant Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 (edited) I heard that the LEGO store here in Calgary ran out a couple weeks ago. Seems LEGO online still had them online until November 2nd-3rd as that's when I saw it not come up anymore. TRU seems to be jumping on LEGO extras with their Xmas catalog...free R2D2 USB ($14 value) with > $50 Star Wars set, free LEGO watch ($25 value) with > $75, and $10 gift card when spending over $50. So, essentially, what, $50 in goodies if you spend over $75 in Star Wars. Can't see where you can't stack these offers... You can! Edited November 4, 2011 by winbrant Quote
Ceroknight Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia is now available in Costco for only $11.39!! Quote
Ogre Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Anyone else get their "holiday" catalog late? My wife (as the one who buys from the catalog) got hers Oct 31st. Yep, the last day of the free shipping promotion she gets the catalog. Nice. I still haven't received mine. Quote

IAmWillGibson Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Hey guys! Has anyone seen a Super-Secret-Special-VIP Brick Friday Invite in Canada yet? I'm wondering if we're gonna get them... I humbly request that if anyone gets the invite, and doesn't have a +1, that I may be considered. Oh, and I'll offer my +1 to people here, should I prove worthy enough to be invited myself [which I haven't as yet...]. Quote
tedbeard Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 (edited) Hey guys! Has anyone seen a Super-Secret-Special-VIP Brick Friday Invite in Canada yet? Are we expecting an invite to an event based on an American holiday? Oh wait, of course we are. Edited November 10, 2011 by tedbeard Quote
Rook Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I love how Black Friday is becoming its own holiday. Kind of like Boxing Day is here. Quote

I'm also wondering how many VIP points you need to get the invite. Quote
medib Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I am wondering about a VIP invitation as well. whether I do or do not get the invitation, I plan on putting an order for BrickFriday... Free Shipping and a free gift. I'm hoping for $10/$20/$30 off depending on how much you purchase, but I'm not holding my breath. Quote
Si-MOCs Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Why do I for see these invitation as bragging rights / grounds for divorce? though I can think of a few EBers that is likely ahead of me... now if you throw in BL and other sources... Quote
Ricecracker Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 I doubt the Fairview store will have them, what with them just opening and all. Quote

Pfft, yeah, no kidding! I was thinking about my VIP points since the program started and thought "Geez, I've bought a ton of LEGO lately"...then I realized that it didn't even cover my purchases from TRU, Walmart, Zeller's, Chapters... I'm surprised my wife hasn't left me already! Quote

Ogre Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Did you remember to have who keeps the LEGO in the pre-nuptial agreement? I wonder if redeeming VIP points lower one's chances to get a invite? It's very simple...the LEGO would be MINEMINEMINEALLMINE!!!! I wouldn't think it would...'redeeming' indicates an active participant in the program, IMO and thus, a more attractive VIP member. Quote
legomaniac83 Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 I doubt any of us Canadians would get an invitation. It's centered around the Thanksgiving holiday in the US. Plus we already know it will be called "Brick Friday" here and the free Lego gift is probably Christmas set #2. I'm not getting my hopes up - it's an American thing unfortunately. Quote
