Si-MOCs Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 I doubt any of us Canadians would get an invitation. It's centered around the Thanksgiving holiday in the US. Plus we already know it will be called "Brick Friday" here and the free Lego gift is probably Christmas set #2. I'm not getting my hopes up - it's an American thing unfortunately. But can we take that RISK!?!?!? I think we should all head out to LEGO Store and BUY BUY BUY Quote
medib Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 ... or you can save some $$$ until the week of Brick Friday and see what offers Lego is giving for the weekend. I don't wait for Lego to send me an invite, I just look at the offers at Lego.com and then order. Of course it helps to have a US Postal Address (PO Box). Quote
DarthNick Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Hey, For the few of you who don't know me, my name's Nick, and I work at the better of the two LEGO Stores in Toronto, meaning the Sherway Gardens location (sorry, Ricecracker). I've been dragged onto these forums by a few friends. We'll see how it goes. If anyone's ever coming by my store, let me know, that way I can see if I'll be there and we can meet. Quote
medib Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Thanks for posting Nick. We like the Sherway Gardens better, because its closer to the house and on the way the monthly meet-ups at Swiss Chalet. By the way, if you want to meet up with Nick, you should ask him to show you his lego creations. Really nice and detailed. I like Ricecracker's stuff better, just because I'm more into Town/Train, but Nick's are also nice. And so are Si-Moc's. And Blue-and-white's. And there are most likely other Canadian Eurobricker's with cool lego Moc's.... ...and my wife makes decent cakes. Quote
Ceroknight Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Alien Conquest's Jet-Copter Encounter is only $35.99 at Costco! Quote
prateek Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Alien Conquest's Jet-Copter Encounter is only $35.99 at Costco! Only? That's only $4 off Even TRU has better sales than that. Quote
Ceroknight Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Only? That's only $4 off Even TRU has better sales than that. It costs $50 S@H.. Quote
MacK Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 It costs $50 S@H.. In addition to the above mentioned Alien Conquest set, they also have the police boat for $35, the Star Wars and Police Brickmaster books at $17 apiece, and finally the Star Wars minifigure guide for around $13. *at least at my local Costco Quote
prateek Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 It costs $50 S@H.. Whoops! Was looking at the USA S@H page instead. Screw you, cookies! Quote

Why do you need a US PO box for "Brick Friday"? LEGO has been running that promo for a couple of years now and I've always been able to order up here with no problem. Quote
medib Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 (edited) I dont need a PO Box for Brickfriday, but it helps. also... thinking about it, Lego hasnt always extended the brickfridays north of the border. Only just recently, if I think about it. Edited November 16, 2011 by medib Quote
IAmWillGibson Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Last year, what sort of deals were in-store that might be different from those online? I can get to the store Friday or Saturday, but, well... it's easier to order online, plus I don't want to get out there to find they don't have the stuff I'm looking for [i'm shopping for some specific stuff]. But if there's neat on-store stuff, or better deals or whatever, I can and will make the trip. Advice requested! [Especially from the employees in the thread, if you're allowed to chime in.] Quote

[Especially from the employees in the thread, if you're allowed to chime in.] I know that a lot of the sale stuff already online at lego.com is NOT available at the Fairview Mall store and I think that a lot of it isn't even in the Sherway store (PoP, etc.)...so, if you're looking for that stuff, 'online' is the way to go, IMO. Cool nick, nice to meet you - virtually that is. I wonder if anyone else here works for a LEGO store? Fairview is bigger - but currently sherway has better pab wall. Quote

[Especially from the employees in the thread, if you're allowed to chime in.] It is my understanding that on Friday there will be sale pricing on some more recent sets over $140, which is pretty cool. As to which sets those are, well, I'm sure not even the employees will know until they print the stickers! It should be worth checking out, though, especially since it is a sort of unique in-store event. I'll be at Fairview for sure . Quote

I was at the Fairview store again yesterday and I overheard one of the employees talking to a customer and something was mentioned about maybe having a chance to win a percentage off their purchase, or something like that. Anyone know what that's about? If it's the real deal, is it a large percentage, or just like 10%, or something? I need to know! (gotta plan those purchases, yanno) Quote
Si-MOCs Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) I know in the states they do the scratch and save 10-50 but its like 2 50% off per store or something really low. I know a guy a few years ago bought like 1200 in lego and got the 50%. Of course he went back and got two more isd with the money he saved. The guys at the store called him 'the one' for years Edited November 18, 2011 by SI-mocs Quote

But if I were you, I'd take my chances and come to the store.... Wink, wink, nudge nudge. Say no more. Anyway, yeah, I'm gonna try and make the trip up there morning of the 25th. Fairview or Sherway, I'm unsure... I'm about halfway between both. I guess I could call ahead on Thursday to see if they have the stuff I'm looking for. I think Emerald Night is a pretty standard in-store item, but I'm not sure if the PF stuff needed to make it run is an always-on-the-shelf deal or not. I guess I could always just get the EN and order the engine online later that day. SO much shopping... so little money. Quote
