Righteous Squid Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Its been a quiet day in Gotham. At Gotham police HQ the SWAT team are taking a break: Suddenly they slump to the ground, sleeping darts in their backs. Their Gunship is now free for the taking... Which is exactly what the Time Ninja does... 'So long suckers!' Meanwhile the professor is at his new job. Today he is doing a test run on the time machine he and his collegues have been building. Based on his recalculations from the faulty work of some past would be time traveller he only has to reach the speed of 88.4628735 mph to be catapulted back into the past. First he has to find a deserted road. Up in the sky the Time Ninja has spotted his target. He has come from the future to destroy the time machine and prevent the professor from unravelling the space-time continuum. Fortunately for the professor Batman just happens to be taking the BAtwing for a test run and once again is on hand to save the day. The Time Ninja returns fire... ...and the Batwing takes a hit. Its only minor damage but the Batman must take the gunship out quickly. Time to deploy the cannons... Job done... ...Gotham is safe as Batman rules the skies. Unfortunatly the time machine was hit by the gunfire and has malfunctioned. The professor's wig has also mysteriously disappeared. Wherever could it be? Quote
user Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Really good building on the vehicles I especially liked the gunship! All the vehicles were very detailed the joke at the end was pretty funny too you have a lot of talent! Quote
The Penguin Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Very interesting, and well done, Righteous Squid! ) The fighting scene is great. Though I don't really like sci-fic things in Batman, but that one is really great! ) Good day, gentlemen! ) Quote
Righteous Squid Posted January 3, 2009 Author Posted January 3, 2009 Lol! Reminds me of Terminator! Really good building on the vehicles I especially liked the gunship! All the vehicles were very detailed the joke at the end was pretty funny too you have a lot of talent! That was funny! Great job! I'm glad I could amuse you. However, some things aren't laughing matters. I have been trying to make a serious point about the plight of those who are folliclly challenged. These people need our help in overcoming a debilitating social stigma with, as yet, no adequate way of countering the effects of hairloss. Instead of help and understanding they more often encounter rejection and ridicule. They are forced to resort to embarrassingly inadequate and costly measures to try and disguise their affliction. A charitable trust has been established whose aim is to find more effective ways of dealing with the problem of baldness and hairloss. We need your support. Please donate to BALHD (Beautiful Alternatives to Lousy Hairpiece Designs) Very interesting, and well done, Righteous Squid! )The fighting scene is great. Though I don't really like sci-fic things in Batman, but that one is really great! ) Thanks Penguin. I tend to agree with you about sci-fi in Batman. I don't like too much of it either. For that reason your comment has inspired me to reconsider my design and I have changed the gunship from the science-fictiony design to a more familiar helicopter design. (I originally designed it to see what I could do with the Aquaraiders angler fish pieces and didn't have a lot of pieces to hand.) I'm quite pleased with thresults and it now fits better with my vision of Gotham. Thanks. I also wasn't entirely happy with the shape of the wings on my Batwing, (this was one of my first MOCs). In the photos they didn't look as good as they did in the plastic. I've used some more recently acquired pieces to get a better wing shape without making it too big, (I originally redesigned it because it was too big for my son to play with). I have a couple more pieces in mind for a better shape but don't have enough of them yet. Happy New Year! Quote
VBBN Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Great work on the mocs, and great story! I really like the time machine, you used the wheels in a great way. Valedico, The Gladiator VBBN Quote
Righteous Squid Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 Great work on the mocs, and great story! I really like the time machine, you used the wheels in a great way. Thanks VBBN, The time machine truck started out life as Dino 2010 set 7296 4WD Trapper. I truely was shocked at the size of it and immediately set about reducing it to minifigure scale. After two atttempts it was down to eight wide but was still a bit big. Eventually I just stripped it right down and started from scratch, managing to make it six wide. Initially I had the wheels flush with the sides but it just looked silly so I set them out to eight wide again and it looks great with the rest of my vehicles. Quote
Batbrick Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I just realised I haven't commented on this one! for shame! Love it Righteous Squid, you've really upped the Batwing, looks great, the cockpit especially. While I love the shape of the original, you've definitely done a great job of making it into the more well known stubbier version. The gold is very neatly placed too. Love the Professor's inclusion, he's a joke that never gets old. His truck is one sweet mobile too! I love the gunship with random time travelling ninja, looks fantastic. While I love fantasy style Batman as much as realistic Batman, I have to say the gunship looks so much better as a helicopter, the details just work so much finer. The guns and cockpit are epic too, surely a fantastic battle! So sorry for the late comment, but better now than never right? Batbrick Away! Quote

Fully agree with you on the gunship - tried different ways of getting the top right on the sci-fi version but couldn't get something I was satisfied with so I'm glad the penguin prompted me to dig around in my Lego drawers to do the helicopter version. As for being late ... can't hold that against anyone, since I myself am never anything but late. Quote
