Starwars4J Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 http://cgi.ebay.com/Skull-Island-Castle-Pi...1QQcmdZViewItem ...the hell? I've heard of copycat before...but that can't be right. It looks EXACTLY like a lego set, but what's with the name? I mean...there are limits, aren't there? o_o Quote
Starwars4J Posted October 1, 2005 Author Posted October 1, 2005 Interesting, I've never seen this brand before, but usually copycats...I mean they copy even the MAP exactly, and Redbeard (the minifig, not you). How hasn't Lego sued them by now? Quote
The Middleman Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Interesting, I've never seen this brand before, but usually copycats...I mean they copy even the MAP exactly, and Redbeard (the minifig, not you). How hasn't Lego sued them by now? International copyright law being enforced with China is a joke, unfortunately. Quote
Dreamweb Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 I've got a few small sets like this. The picture on the box is a copy of Lego's box, however the parts often have different colours, especially minifigs sometimes look totally different than their Lego's counterparts. Yes it is definitely a crime to make sets like this and it's very wrong, however in real life the truth is brutal - many people will buy this rip-off instead of Lego because of the price. Quote
Norro Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Some of these are just funny... God Bless, Nathan Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 2, 2005 Governor Posted October 2, 2005 Can this auction be for real? Yes, this auction is definitely for real. However the authenticity of the of pieces is another matter entirely! Quote
Sting Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Lego should learn from this.. you dont see fake Bionacle sets coming out, DO YA? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 5, 2005 Governor Posted October 5, 2005 No you don't. So that doesn't speak very highly of Bionicle. If you're good, every wants to copy you! Quote
Terence Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Check this...Chinese Fakes Shame ............ :| Quote
snefroe Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 hm... i wonder... sure, you're not allowed to use the word and logo "lego", but i'm not sure this copycat is doing anything wong... you're free to resell your stuff if you don't want it anymore and quite a few people at bricklink are selling sets of their own... the same works for the chinese goods, even tho i haven't really seen anything... i guess it indicates that people are willing to buy real lego pirate sets, but only at lower prices than lego offers them... Quote
Christian Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 If anybody is interested here is a Link to a webpage wich sells these sets. I hope its not against the rules to post links like this :-D Actually I own two of the miliatry sets. and I have to say that their minifigsized m16 rifles are really good. Quote
Dreamweb Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 you're free to resell your stuff if you don't want it anymore and quite a few people at bricklink are selling sets of their own... But these aren't Lego pieces we're talking about, just bricks made to look like Lego. i guess it indicates that people are willing to buy real lego pirate sets, but only at lower prices than lego offers them... Right now Lego isn't offering any System scaled pirate sets, so many people would buy those Chinese fakes - they're new, in sealed boxes... Quote
metallifreak44 Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 I've seen these on eBay for about 2 years now. I've also seen firsthand products of the same manufacturer. The quality is nowhere near Lego and who would ever want the knockoff anyway? It's almost sickening that people will actually try promoting copied Lego products as their own. But there's not a whole lot we can do. All I can say is: don't ever buy these! Not only because we shouldn't support the knockoff, but the quality and craftsmanship is abysmal. Ew..... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 14, 2005 Governor Posted October 14, 2005 I nearly bought some of these once but the postage cost deterred me. Good thing too! Quote
