nychase Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Seriously? 2.5 years bump? If I had to mention anything about the set ....it would be how annoyingly rare (and expensive) the 5x11 yellow panels were right after HAN released his 6x6. They have come back to more tolerable levels now....but by no means "cheap". Quote

allanp Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 No disrespect to the designer of this set, i'm sure he had many restraints to work to and so on, but this set is quite possibly the worst technic set of all time! For £50 you got two gears worth of mechanical complexity and that's it! Using technic (as great as it is) to make this model was like using chocolate (as great as it is) to make a tea pot, completely pointless! Quote

Using technic (as great as it is) to make this model was like using chocolate (as great as it is) to make a tea pot, completely pointless! Consider it an excellent parts pack then. At the time, the tires and the 3x3 T liftarms were very hard to get, and of course there are those yellow 5x11 panels. I'm not sure about worst of all time. There are plenty of other models that don't do much of anything such as the Throwbots, RoboRider, 8277, 3057, and 8433. Edited October 31, 2012 by Blakbird Quote
allanp Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 (edited) Well I would probably argue that throwbots and roboriders were not technic, despite having the technic name on them, because authentic mechanisms wern't their top priority as far as reasonally practical (it would not be practical for 8480 to have authentic rocket engines!) and was of a much lower price point as was 8433. However a can't argue with 8277. That's the very set that came to mind when writing my last comment which is why I wrote probably the worst set of all time. It was good for those parts you mentioned at the time tho. Edited October 31, 2012 by allanp Quote
