Alldarker Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Well, someone brought this topic back from the dead, but with good cause, as I'd never read Sandy's review before! First of all, what a great find! This final (sub)series of the Adventurers line was the only one which I really followed closely: at the time I bought the Temple of the Mount Everest, the passage of Jun Chi, Secret of the Tomb and the Yeti's Hideout, and I bough a MISB Dragon Fortress a couple of months ago. Anyhow, as TheBrickster said, the use of a chessboard to display the various minifigs is inspired. As is the way all the subthemes within Orient Expedition were reviewed seperately. Indeed, thanks for sharing! To finish up: the various Adventurers series were some of the best series Lego ever created. I've since collected the larger Egyptian sets and the Jungle sets (which weren't even available in the Netherlands), and even after ten year these still hold up very well, even (especially) against the Indiana Jones sets. BaalTheBuilder Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 (edited) Recently lucked into a Dragon Fortress and it’s still true that the gold-trimmed dragon is one of the most beautiful lego creations, if not the most. I also hope to MOC my Scorpion Palace together with an Alamut and some pieces from the new Raya Heart Palace set. Orient Expedition did bring a lot of incredible LEGO pieces, figures, and builds. Kim-Kwang-Seok Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 To me it was the best theme of the time. And a theme that could still hold up to todays standards. If I were to have the asian ship, it would be easy to modify with some more pieces to fit todays standard. I loved the creatures, the consistency between areas (asian, oriental, himalaya). As a kid I also loved the card game! I never understood why Lego doesnt do this again for the likes of ninjago, SW or Harry Potter. The inclusion of cards is really cheap but can provide a lot of playability and makes a Lego set also a board game. I would love for Lego to bring this to live again. Back in the old days I was pretty poor - I got some of the sets used for little to no money. I remember snatching the himalaya/mountain set. I had soooooo much fun with it... Quote
