SuvieD Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Most of the time with Avatar MOCs you only get characters or custom decal work. You have gone beyond and worked on content that is so important to the show that I am sorely tempted to go back and watch more Avatar, something I do not have time for. The fissure is very nice and if it was just a little longer it would be great for a duel in a fanfiction MOC or something. The real treasure is the earth bending pillars. They are a little short but the mechanism is inspired and the end result, mixed colors and all, is fabulous. I am for the first time ever excited to see an Avatar MOC and even more so in anticipation of the arena. LEGO dropped the ball on what could have been an awesome series of sets. It is nice to see a what could have been. What types of tricks or ideas have you found for water and air bending? Quote
Naith Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 (edited) Very good moc well designed and clever mechanisms, Edited January 6, 2009 by Naith Quote
Righteous Squid Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Great work. You've really highlighted the untapped potential of this licence. So many great sets and minifigures that could have been... I look forward to seeing the finished arena. What about airbending? Maybe the pneumatic pumps on the Mars Mission Base could prove useful there. I don't have any myself but they might be worth investigating if they're powerful enough. Who knows maybe you could even add water for waterbending? Quote
Pigbrick Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 (edited) Well, I'm back at college now which means less time for lego building . I did bring some back with me but not enough (is it really ever enough when it comes to lego?). I'm still building the arena through LDD and through actual bricks but the whole arena won't be done in a long time. I simply don't have the bricks, especially ones in the right colors, to pull it off yet. Also I have to finish the design too . I might not have any more to contribute to this topic but I do hope that others will start posting Avatar MOCs ! Also I'm starting to work on some Avater minifigure designs such as torsos and faces. Right now I'm designing Toph's torso. Who knows if I'll finish any of this ! Edited January 13, 2009 by Pigbrick Quote
Dragonator Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Pigbrick, you are a star. As an Avatar fan, I was very disappointed when TLC dropped the license, and I still wish they had built more sets. Perhaps they might pick it back up again when the live-action movie comes out? Who knows... Anyway, your ideas to showcase the various bending abilities are really neat, I like them. I built an Avatar MOC a while back, although looking back on it now it wasn't exactly that great. You have got me thinking of building some more now though, so thanks! Momo will live again! My one problem has always been the lack of official characters, so I'll be interested to see what you come up with for Toph and the others. I've never managed to build a good Appa, I'm not very good at doing brick-built animals. Perhaps I will try again sometime soon... Quote
tin7_creations Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 GENIUS!! now u just have to make a Toph minifig and allow it to do some earthbending! Quote
Wout Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Wow, this looks great. Clever design. The idea with the little wedges is also good. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Very nicely done! I never did see the show, but still very interesting! Quote
Darth Legolas Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I gotta hand it to you, that's one of the greatest idea's I've ever seen! Did you draw blueprints or sit down with a bunch of bricks and start freebuilding? Quote
eti Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 It's awesome - exactly the kind of stuff that Lego builds into their sets. I esp. like the fissure because it's so simple and it just works. The other one is nice even though it's not all that simple - I don't see how it works because I don't know what a 'spring brick' is? (I'm not very technical I must admit) Quote
