-JD- Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Hi eveyone. I was browsing youtube and found this: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=eVa44m9KHz0 I was amazed by the amount of BPs this guy has (16+ in total). He also made a pretty sweet base. I don't know how or why he bought so much but he must have a lot of money. I want that many. JD Quote
Bobskink Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 he must have a lot of money. My thoughts exactly. I don't like it when people brag that much with what they have, but the voice seems to be the one of a kid. I never thought kids could be such collectors, when I was a kid I really didn't care how big my army was, I just wanted lots of diferent sets. Quote
KimT Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 A shame that he's moving the camera around at warp speed. And what's cool about buying multiple BP's? Collect the entire theme - that's awesome. Anyone could spend 200 USD on BattlePacks Quote
jifel Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Where did he find those? I went to Target and they only had one BP. I bought it, but nothing close to me has a great stock of Legos. jifel Quote
Commander_Rob Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Well, everyone could buy so many battlepacks with the money needed but that someone actually does so bothers me a bit, he must have went to every toy shop in his area to get 18 of them and he wants four more, I don`t know, that is a bit of overkill. I will get some of those battlepacks too though, a maximum of maybe five over the course of the year. Quote
KimT Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I think I'll be getting around 10 of the Clone Walker Battlepacks, but I still see no reason for me to video them. Or the other battle packs I've bought previously for that sake. A show off video with a camera that's being moved around too fast. meh! As for getting them, can't they be ordered through S@H? Quote
pedro Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Are we all so cynical? The [rich] kid obviously wanted to collect a large army and he certainly isn't the first... a quick browse through Brickshelf will find you pages with truly enormous armies. If he wants to show 'em off, let him. Thousands of us do it. I just feel sorry for all those who live near him, he [his parents] must have bled those stores dry of BP's! Quote
General Magma Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Show off? Everyone "shows-off". If you put a MOC on Brickshelf or here on EB, it's show off..you are showing "off" your creation then. And who says he got it from toy stores? Might be S@H, too. Quote
Bobskink Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Show off? Everyone "shows-off". If you put a MOC on Brickshelf or here on EB, it's show off..you are showing "off" your creation then. Showing off your creations is one thing, you are proud of what you made if you do, but the showing off we are talking about is look at how much money I spend, and probably look at how impatient I am. But like pedro says, lots of collectors show off, but I never saw a show off collection with audio. Quote

def Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I got a bad vibe off of this vid. I've spent ridiculous money this year on Lego, in a way that I won't add it up because I don't want to think about/admit it. Reading a few posts on this thread, it tempts me to put everything together to show in a video myself, just for the heck of it. But, it's not about quantity for me. I want to see all the variety of sets out there. This kid seems all over the numbers, and doesn't show much love for individual pieces, just part of his tabulation. If you asked me how many clone troopers I have, the answer would be 'a bunch'. Maybe it's because I'm a bit older, but I have to treat my purchases as part of a serious hobby, and this kid didn't give those feelings off, he felt more like a show off. Anyway, he's young, I'm sure he'll have a different attitude when he's older, and we can't be too mean to a teenager Just for the sake of saying something nice, the video made me think about buying a second AT AP, because they look nice together, and would really complement an AT TE. But I'd rather get an AT AT Quote
General Armendariz Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I got a lot of money to spend maybe i'll buy clone battle packs! Quote
AJH Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I'd rather get an AT AT i think The latest AT-AT is brilliant the walking function has been very cleverly built i don't think i will buy any new battlepacks AJH Quote
The Rancor Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 WHAT A SPOILT KID!!! I ordered 1 Battlepack. Only 1! Sorry. I don't have £150 just floating around. I would have never got £150 of sets in one go when I was this kids age, even for my birthday or Christmas! Quote
The Penguin Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Now, gentlemen.... I wouldn't go harsh on that kid. It's normal in his age to behave like this and there should be nothing insulting here.... He does have a big army, so what's the problem here? SW may be his only favourite theme, so he puts all his pocket money in it, for example. What's so bad about it? And I guess that collecting an army is also a form of being LEGO fan, isn't it? We don't know, maybe he's a talented MOCer, and he will use all his figs for a big diorama one day? ) I guess we all should be more indulgent, gentlemen! ) Quote
-JD- Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 Yes, I suppose we should Penguin. Lets all be conciderate (or however you spell it). He is just a kid, and maybe he does get lots of money but it's his choice to spend, spend, spend. Quote
Bobskink Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 You're right, it's just a kid. Bad parents! Quote
KinGanon Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I think the kid is a little ungrateful but, I also think that a few members are a lil jealous of what the kid has(okay I'll admit I want his collection) and especially at that age Also his other "reviews" are a little amateur, he uses frickin' and awesome way too much. Ironic that such a great collection fall into the wrong hands.... Quote
Motti Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I remember watching this a few days ago. This guy has a droid army too, by the way. It's more diverse with large vehicles. And I agree. I like having a diversity of vehicles more than uniformity. And about collecting battle packs: I saw a pic of someone who had literally thousands of battle packs. (the same ones, the BD one from 2007). I think he intends to selll it much later. Quote
Darth Legolas Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Impressive collection, but, lemme tell you, that is one spoiled kid, no offense Mr. Kid. I only need my 10 clone wars clones that I have, though I will get more over the course of this year, but what I need is droids, droids, droids! 10 droids to every one clone, I need 100 droids. I have about 30. I really need an MTT! Quote

CommanderBly 128 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 He probably got them all for Christmas $ 400.00 isnt really that much if it was all christmas presents. Quote
Bob Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 He must be the reason why the battle packs are on backorder when I tried to order... Quote

Believe me, I know. ) My battle droid army (I won't say how many I have, or I risk to be attacked like that kid had been! ) is formed mostly from my BrickLink orders.... ) Good day, gentlemen! ) Quote

And that was the point I was trying to get across to be honest: not to be too hard on him. He may be a kid - he's definately a collector. Lots of collectors regardless of age have massive armies and come by them in a variety of ways, whether by purchasing the sets, buying off bricklink, or my personal favourite - receiving them in presents Incidentally when I mentioned him showing em' off I meant it in the literal sense rather than him being a show-off. If I was a kid with an army that big I'd probably want the world to see too... well, maybe not... but you get my point Now, if only he'd filmed his army with a little less shaky-cam and a bit more focus...
