Colonel Bulstrode Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Sweet $60 though, I'm start to think Lego's get a little over priced I still really want to get it though. Sp1nKy ___________________________________ Lego is using the Darkside of the force to over price there new Star wars sets! You must stop them, it is your destiny. If you agree with me... congratulations! Quote
KimT Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Sweet $60 though, I'm start to thinkLego's get a little over priced I still really want to get it though. Since you're new around here, I'll let you live. C'mon people, we've been over this before. The prices are different around the world and hearing US members complain over the prices is something that'll piss off any European or Asian member, since we pay double the amount per set. So let go of that discussion. If you need to discuss prices, then go to the Ambassadors' Forum - there's a topic for that. But leave the price ranting out the Star Wars forum. Saying that the price per piece is too high is more than enough. This is an AFOL site and AFOLs are rich enough (or smart enough) to prioritize which sets they want. Let it go all of you. NOW! Quote
Future74 Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 (edited) I'm sorry KimT... wont do it again. I hate it when people complain while others got it worse, so I got carried away. Love the new Dooku figure! He looks menacing, evil, like he should being a Sith Lord. Even the hair is acceptable, although i can see that it would also fit palpatine as Rayman has said. I say anyone who's got complaints about it draw a new design! Let's see if that's better... Edited January 11, 2009 by Future74 Quote
Corvus Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 At the risk of getting slapped upside the head by kimT, yes, the set is rediculously overpriced. But that's not the only thing that's annoying me about the set. The only good thing in this set to me is Dooku's lightsaber, and maybe dooku himself. He looks horrible in the cartoon, though. The set itself needs something more, like more of an interior. I'm dissapointed that the only thing we can do with it is put Dooku's speeder (which is a pretty nice) in it and stuff the droid in as well. The arms lack anything good, too, since they open oddly and don't do anything. Quote
Derek Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 At the risk of getting slapped upside the head by kimT, yes, the set is rediculously overpriced. I agree with this. I really don't see the big deal when we give our opinion of a set, we take price in as a factor when giving it. It is possibly the one thing that can make or break a great set. This would be a great value at half of the price. I know others have it worse, but its still bad. Done with talking about price. Anyway, this is a fantastic set, with fantastic figures. I love Dooku and how they were clever and gave the pilot droid the skeleton leg for a head. They got away with giving Dooku Palpatines hair, and I think it works nicely, much better than the standard male hair would, like the old version. Thanks for a great review! Quote
Snake...SNAKE...SNAAAAKE?! Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 $60 for 384 pieces?! Seriously?!?!Wow, that must be the highest price per piece of any set so far this year, isn't it? i actually think Ashoka's starfighter is worse... Quote
MicroM Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Thanks for the review of this kit. I'm not that sold to be honest, though I really like the Dooku minifig. And it is a great idea they include the hood, I've often wondered why they don't do this with the Jedi. The fact it is an exclusive might sway me to not get the kit. TrU sold the 2 exclusives in Australia with quite a markup from the 2008 CW line up and given its current price it might just be a little out of my budget this year. Perhaps I'll just get Dooku off Bricklink. Quote
iH Master 13uilder17 Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Thanks I might get this for Dooku and his Magna Guards. Quote
Robinson6142 Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I'm getting it. A new Count Dooku plus 2 Magna guards, thats much better than the Magna guard fighter in terms of figures. The price for these 2 is the same in the UK aswell. Quote
RDG31 Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 just ordered this set today! Great review helped me make up my mind, love the new Dooku minifig and think the ship looks awesome with the wings spread! Quote
The Who Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 (edited) I know that a bunch of members don't like this set, but personally, I think it's great. Yes, the new droid is pretty lame, and No, there's not a ton of playability, but it is still a good ship to have been made. The face for Dooku does seem a little bit stretched out, though I'm glad they're finally making a new one. EDIT: Oh..and...um..Great review. Edited January 13, 2009 by booger540 Quote

hollisbrick Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Thanks for the review! This set is soo tempting to get I guess I'll see but it is better than I thought it was Quote
Motti Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I got this set delivered a day ago. It's wonderful. If you try very hard, you can cram the magnaguards, staffs, and hood into the back along with Dooku on his speeder!(Put magnaguard without staff into each door, stuff hood and staffs above the speeder.) Oh, yea, you're not supposed to balance the ship like you did on the floor with the landing gear. You put the ship on the landing gear and the traingle pieces, but the triangle pieces are there only so because the landing gear would fold immediately from the weight. They are there for support, and should be leaned backwards, as that is accurate also. Greatest set I have ever had in my whole life, truly. And possibly the only recent one with a chrome ightsaber. Oh, and as a tip, there is a hook on the other side of the speeder where you can put the lightsaber. On the other side, you can put blue water for it to act like sith lightning. Or you can change the hook to the inverted version where it faces up and put the double-pronged sith lightning piece, as happens to be more popular these days. Quote
Led ZePPelin Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Dooku's face is vile! Probably the best bit is the saber hilt, the rest is so so. No buy. Quote
CommTech Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I just finished putting this set together last night and I really like it A LOT! Yes, it is overpriced but these sets were sold out in a couple of days at my local TRU. Quote
fenrir Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I'm not into Star Wars LEGO, and don't own any SW LEGO sets... but somehow I realy like this set. I'm thinking about purchasing it. Thank you for the review. Quote
Motti Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I figured out another way to store the electrostaffs. Instead of stuffing them in the back as I mentioned before, you can place them upright at the back. It also looks better than having a gaping hole where the door is, and keeps your accessories from falling out. The measurements also fit perfectly. Quote
Bricklanta Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Nice review! It would be smart to get two of these, I'm sure it will fetch a high price on ebay(in a couple years) just for the rare figs. Quote

Robinson6142 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 (edited) BUT 80,- euro (103 USD) is way too expensive. Especially considering that the pound is level with the euro at the moment, and its only £40 at S@H in the UK. (P.S I'll trade it for a Chrome Vader :P) Edited January 20, 2009 by Robinson6142 Quote

Motti Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I also noticed a mistake. This is present only in the box and one official pic, but not the instructions and another official pic. The stickers on the wings are supposed to be put oppositely, so that the sharp edge touches teh edge of the brick. I myself made this mistake and had to peel each one and re-place them.Nanna's review pic for the first image (correct): Quote
The Who Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 (edited) I finally bought the S.S., and am very pleased with it. Hopefully I didn't make that mistake with the stickers, though I think I did. EDIT: Phew, my stickers were all put on right. Edited January 21, 2009 by booger540 Quote
