Chuck Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Dear members of this forum, I would like to inform you that the 2006 set pictures from 1000legosteine.de are leaked, not allowed to be viewed by the general public. they were illegally taken from a LEGO Co. merchants catalog. A good choice would be to take any pics off the site ASAP (if your a mod or admin), to avoid getting in any trouble. I was just as dissapointed as you are probaly going by the time you read this. -Charlie Quote
sam89 Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 We know the pics are leaked. Eurobricks doesn't have a policy against leaked info, though. Quote
SuvieD Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 We like leaked pictures. *satis* I am not in charge here but I am sure that someone at LEGO watches this site and they have already contacted Jipay about the pictures. Don't worry about it and enjoy the pictures while they are here. If they dissappear then fine, I have them saved to my desktop. If they don't then all the better for us to talk about and share them with others. Quote
jonfett Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 As SuvieD said, if Lego want's us to remove the pics then fine.. but until they contact us, we will keep them up. ;) Jon. Quote
snefroe Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 1) we are a website about news... 2) some admins have discussed this with Jake before and he was never interested in finding a compromise or a solution about this 3) i have, as some one who went to the eb-event, far more to complain about the company than they have about us. besides, think about the free advertising they get thru us... 4) i don't see any legal issue here. we didn't leak the photos, nor did we take them... in fact, jake wouldn't even ask us, he would just threaten us with whatever he can think of... we're already number 1 on his black list, so who cares, anyway, come to think of it, all the other websites are so naive, scared and meak that we most likely ARE the black list... 5) we don't have any allegiance with the company, so i don't really see why we should follow their wishes... Huh? Why are we #1 on Jake's blacklist? Gimme the gossip! *twisted* Interesting how BZP and FBTB are intimidated by TLC, Legofan of course is very closely affiliated with TLC. So they are hardly independent voices. Lugnet? Bah, they are all psycho. Probably independent, but certifiable for the most part, at least the ones who post and bicker all the time. That leaves EUROBRICKS!! the only significant truly independent Lego Fan site. (oh yeah, forgot 100steine, sorry, they are bigger). However, how independent are they from TLC? I honestly don't know since I can't read German. Congratulations to Eurobricks! Gyl Seriously, I would be stunned and saddened if TLC would make threats against a group of people who love Lego so much, spend so much money on it, and probably promote it wherever they go. I doubt they will start yelling and screaming at Eurobricks. If they truly CARE so much they should just be more damn CAREFUL where and who they show their pictures to. Don't browbeat the fans, fire the dimwit responsible for thee oh-so-all-important pictures. Meh. Quote

Jan Beyer, Europe's equilavent of Jake, posts on 1000steine quite alot, often giving out bits of news. Quote

Yes, but I guess it is notable that the pics were basically released by 1000steine. So they can't be total lap dogs. Maybe they are #1 on Jakes black list :) Quote
xwingyoda Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 What are you complaining about lego2000 :| I fully agree with Sne ;) We will definitly not take the pics down except for a "force majeure" situation !!! If you don't want to look at the pics, fine !!! Don't forget we are the CNN of Lego news :D We post what we find, its a great win/win situation for everyone (at least, this should be viewed like that). TLC benefits from free publicity, and has constructive criticism from a part of the market (the AFOLS and KFOLs) which is not ridiculous !!! Also we (EB and Lego fans) see the future products before, talk about the new sets a lot, start placing money aside for future buys, thus creating a great momentum for the coming out of the new sets ;) Quote
Jipay Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 I haven't received any complain so far... Even then I doubt I would remove those pics. They were originaly leaked from 1000setine that made them public. That's not really our business :D Quote
Chuck Posted October 6, 2005 Author Posted October 6, 2005 Sorry bout that...considering the fact that having the pics online is ILLEGAL, I thought that they might make you close the sight for it......I'M YOUNG AND IGNORANT, ITS TV'S FAULT!!! Quote
sam89 Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 It's only illegal for the person who put them on line. EB isn't doing anything wrong by discussing them here. Quote
snefroe Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Huh? Why are we #1 on Jake's blacklist? Gimme the gossip! *twisted* let's just keep it at this: admins have had words with the Lego Group (basically Jake) and conversation was not particularly polite... anyway, what's done is done... however, yoda, i just found a title for eb: Eurobricks, the unmentionable website! :P Quote
DoubleT Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 lego2000 thank you for for be worrid for us, it shows you have concern for this site, and that you like it :) I am just concerd that Lego now have some people so scared of them (Lego). If something happends some people now say, oh oh they will come after us... And for what I and some other admins have have talked about with Jake, does not concern any one, but Jake and the admins, hope you understand *ss* Quote
Norro Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Good to see I am in good company... God Bless, Nathan Quote

Bah, don't let TV brainwash you with all of this "illegal" stuff. It's a propaganda. Don't be afraid since that's their motive, to scare you and for you to be on your knees. We must stand up and fight. Quote

Hobbes Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 It's only illegal for the person who put them on line. EB isn't doing anything wrong by discussing them here. OK, first it has to confirmed, that showing them indeed is illegal. I don't know about that. Maybe it is. Just saying "We don't want them in public" doesn't make it illegal to make them public. Then, if it is illegal indeed, discussing them wouldn't be illegal, but showing them here again (as attached images) and linking to them could be seen as complicity - which would be a legal issue, of course... But that's not my business - I already have them on my computer *satis* Quote
ApophisV Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 which would be a legal issue, of course...But that's not my business - I already have them on my computer *satis* Hm, TLC sues a Fan site... :| Surely this would be the worst advertisement ever... *wacko* Quote
Vader Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Yeah talk about getting on the bad side of your consumers, as lego hasnt asked us to remove them then there isnt any problem. Quote
snefroe Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 using leaked information to inform a public is a very well known element of journalism. Sure, it would be better if the entire lego community would sit down with the company and get to some sort of an arrangement so we would have a healthy relationship and dialogue with each other. Belgian judicial government had major problems with the press getting leaked information a few years back. Both parties decided it was in both their interest to sit down and work something out. now, they work with each other, if there is a leak of vital information, judicial reps usually ask for just a little time to do what needs to be done before actually bringing it on air. That is what i don't understand in this context. Why is it that the community and the company can't come up with this type of solution, or why don't they use their own platform to bring the news, before even sending it to retailers? Quite a few retailers are not lego's best friend, they surely know that as well... in fact, it's even worse. the company turns websites against each other. Remember the teaser stuff on FBTB? that was "leaked" with permission of the company. Why would lego give certain information only to one website, not even affiliated to them? Eurobricks falls under American law, i'm not familiar whith US copyrights, but they don't risk anything if they were belgian based... Quote
HJR-Holland Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 Did you know that Mercedes leaks spy-pics of it's new cars on purpose? Great advertisement for them... Quote
