Jipay Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 Eurobricks under american law ? Loooooooooool gomme a break on that one ! The server is based in France (=>EURObricks). Considering the legal chaos with the internet in this country we don't risk anything for the next 10 years *twisted* Considering the legal issue, if TLC wants us to remove the pics, we would do that. But they didn't, which could mean the pics were leake intentionally. That would also be a great opportunity for tlc to pre test their core market's reaction to those new products. Plus the free advertising. All in all, it's only a great benefit for them. That' s why I would rather see people commenting the pics than arguing on the fact posting the news here was legal or not. I know we should definitly rename us to "Euroleaks" :P Quote

I know we should definitly rename us to "Euroleaks" :P just heard on the news that all .com websites fall under US law. that's why the EU has created ".EU", it seems... When i was still at university learning about these things, there wasn't any european legislation on this subject, so i honestly don't know, but it might be wise to check it out, just in case... I don't know if the server has anything to do with that. Quote
Jipay Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 according to our laws, it depends on the location of the server. .com only means commercial website, nothing to do with the us :P Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 9, 2005 Governor Posted October 9, 2005 Why would LEGO want the pictures to be removed in the first place? Its not like its going to stop people from buying the sets is it? Rather its going to create anticipation and excitement for them. Really, EuroBricks is doing LEGO a favour by freely advertising their upcoming products. They should really be paying us royalties here... Quote
snefroe Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 well i guess it's never great to see your pics leaked to the press. At that point an organised marketing campaign is impossible, because you no longer control the situation. Quote
Jipay Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 that would be in the case they couldn't know the pics they gave to retailers would be leaked afterwards. But they knew it of course... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 9, 2005 Governor Posted October 9, 2005 well i guess it's never great to see your pics leaked to the press. "the press" That term is so out of date now with the electronic technologies these days... Not that it has anything to do with anything being discussed here. *ahem* Carry on... Quote
snefroe Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 that would be in the case they couldn't know the pics they gave to retailers would be leaked afterwards. But they knew it of course... sure, the company has to blame herself for this last major leak. I wonder if 1000steine took the initiative to take the pictures off line or was there any request from the company... in any case, the website doesn't show these pics anymore... or do you suggest that the company had this weird plan of "leaking" pics of 2006 sets with the help of retailers? DoubleT Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Hi Guys I moved this topic, to the Lego company topic.. Now People can discusse SW and Potter in the other Folder ;) Have fun with this discussion he he Quote
Hobbes Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 in any case, the website doesn't show these pics anymore... Uh... they're still there, in the forum in the *cough* "Fundsache" thread *COUGH*, where they've always been... *lookingaroundnervously* I didn't say that... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 9, 2005 Governor Posted October 9, 2005 That's right Hobbes you didn't say a thing, you wrote it.... Quote

Graynar Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Dear members of this forum, I would like to inform you that the 2006 set pictures from 1000legosteine.de are leaked, not allowed to be viewed by the general public. they were illegally taken from a LEGO Co. merchants catalog. A good choice would be to take any pics off the site ASAP (if your a mod or admin), to avoid getting in any trouble. I was just as dissapointed as you are probaly going by the time you read this. I think we should stay on topic. It is a shame that these pictures were leaked. I was hoping to see some minifig scale knights kingdom sets but I guess that was too much to hope for. Illegal photos? Ouch. So maybe that means these pictures could be proto-types! Graynar Quote
Jipay Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Snefroe, I just ment that by giving the 2006 catalogue so early to retailer, TLC knows that there will be leaks. Knowing this, I assume they had a reason to release the catalogue so early. Now I can't tell what happens in their twisted mind, this company is just lost somewhere on another planet where normal marketing laws do not exist. Graynar, I should remind you that the big KK figures are always first on january and that the minifig theme only comes in august. So you can still hope ( and a KK3 theme has been annouced so don't be negative :oD ) Quote
Cutty Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Snefroe, I just ment that by giving the 2006 catalogue so early to retailer, TLC knows that there will be leaks. Knowing this, I assume they had a reason to release the catalogue so early. My local toydealer of trust just recently told me you had to order months in advance with Lego to have a good supply of things. The very same just happens now with all the SW and Viking sets here because the original circulation of both lines is almost sold out here. So stores order now to receive things next year. I presume the same is true for the 2006 sets. I for my part am not wondering about retailer catalogues being early. Decreasing in circulation, "Daily Cutty - news noone needs!" Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 First post here! Every year it's the same thing. Prototype pics get leaked and the situation turns into something akin to beef chunks in a tank of starving pirahna. This year it's a case of Piraka pics falling into a tank of starving children. Every time this stuff happens, I have little doubt it's completely orchestrated and intentional. Oh, Lego'll jump on a site or two and swing their sacs against the side of their faces, but that just makes even MORE interest in the new stuff. The more they say "no", the more people want to see them. They know that. They HAVE to by now. It's common sense, basic business type stuff here. "Stolen" pics? Pfft. Show me a retailer's non-disclosure form and THEN I'll believe it. Quote
Deinonychus Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Well, I'm very new here, but I do know something about this subject, as I'm on staff at a website with a strong "no prototypes" policy: Essentially it's this...any production samples from the factory that would be sold out of ebay or at some shady store in China (with LEGO I'd assume somewhere in Europe) are usually considered "stolen" and it's illegal to sell or purchase such items. Now, pictures of said items as well as images from the manufacturer that have not been officially released are also considered the manufacturer's property and are also considered "stolen" Now... It is indeed illegal for a website to have these "stolen" images on their own server. But, you can link to them from another site all you want because then it's the legal burden of the image hosts, not the linker. And, as many of you suspect, talking about any "unofficial" images or objects is perfectly legal. Now, with images coming from a retailer catalog...those would NOT be considered stolen and as such can be kept on a server without legal ramifications. Many companies would prefer that anything that they do not release themselves to the general public as official be removed or not discussed, but what they would like, and what they can legally stop are two different things. As a good faith gesture, many sites bow to a company's wishes and remove any images or discussion the company asks them to...but as I've seen first hand, the gesture is seldom returned. But...that's just how I understand it. That whole spiel could be lousy with misconceptions or mistakes, I'm just repeating what I know to be the case Quote
languages Posted October 26, 2005 Posted October 26, 2005 Normally when Eurobricks post leaked pics or find them......we are normall right that they are real..... Quote
