Loganwan Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I can't wait for the new Farm sets - that's why I was practising some landscaping Hoard your yellow antennae, people! They've gone from bricklink! Actually it would be nice if Pick-A-Brick started selling the yellow antennae so people *could* make their own crops. I was thinking the same thing. The last time I was at the Pick a Brick wall at my local Lego Store, I grabbed a bunch of flower stems for that reason. I was sure they would disappear and not come back again. Quote
Joebot Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 That was great. The bulldozing reminded em a bit of the start of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy books. Douglas Adams fan, anyone? Yep, I had the same thought. And that bulldozer is about the size of a Vorgon cruiser. Don't Panic!! Really terrific story and pictures. The whimsical tone of the narrative and the bright, cheery pictures made a great contrast with the bitter satire. Also, thumbs up for that old Town House set!! I had that set when I was a kid, and it was always one of my favorites. Quote
bamaker Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Great work on all the set designs and I thought the destruction of the poor family farm was depicted very well (unfortunately for the poor farm). I would call it a fun, whimsical story, but there's too much truth to it (I mean, who doesn't see Rock Monsters around their town everyday?). The only bit that through me off was the reveal of the Rock Monster where the caption says: However nobody ever found the mortal remains of that loving wife and mother, Jill... I thought Jill was the daughter and Jane was the mother. Jill was swept up during the demolition (only to end up as a street performer/hooker?) and Jane was last seen with two construction workers. Did the construction workers feed Jane to the Rock Monster? Quote

Scouty Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 That's outrageously funny . Excellent shots, sets, and story. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 SC: I've been meaning to comment on this for some time, but have been rather occupied with Classic-Town. What a wonderful creation! I really like the colors and the style which are so reminiscent of Classic Town. I could imagine this entire scene being depicted in an old Lego Idea catalogue. Your story is equally amusing, and the pictures tell the story. I've always wondered what Joe & Jane minifig looked like . I think you've captured them as well as their former house very nicely. Excellent creation! Quote

The Idea Books were definitely an inspiration. I do find it amazing how well brand-new elements and colours can still combine with older sets and pieces to capture the Classic Town feel (such as Willie's hair and all the dark green foliage). After all the super-detailed buildings we've had in the last 2 years, I had gone through a stage of considering this early 80s house too small to fit in with the current buildings, but I think it works nicely here as a farm homestead. Col. Brik Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Great story and pictures. What a wonderful way to wake up this morning and read that one. I had a good laugh. I hope the story continues on in some way. Quote
z_zadar Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Goooood story. What a twist! When John appeared in last scenes with a knife, a was expecting his to be all in revenge, but sadly... life's taken him. Beautiful and engaging! Wow! Quote
I Scream Clone Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Wow svelte I thought things were bad IRL!, Clearly Lego towns aren't faring much better. I love the whole story, the photos are fantastic too. Buying some lights and posterboard has paid off nicely. Quote

I hope your house hunt isn't as traumatic as this I'm so impatient now for the new Farm sets. Come on Lego! It's almost March! They should be available at S@H now! Quote
