Hinckley Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Want to win these rare pieces? Just post an Avatar WIP or MOC to this thread and you'll be entered in the drawing for these great rare pieces. There are a lot of great creations in the Avatar: The Last Airbender world. Check out this site for some inspiration. From time to time we'll run giveaway raffles like this that require some building from you. This is the first one and the them is pretty random, but cool! Rules: MOC or WIP must be new-nothing you've posted here or elsewhere before Entries must be from members who registered for the site before 2009.01.16 WIPs must be at least 10 pieces We have the right to refuse any entry we don't feel was a true attempt at an Avatar creation-so put some effort into it! Thread may close at any given time-a deadline will not be announced. Winner will be drawn randomly-not a judgment of best creation. Have fun!! Quote
hollisbrick Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I don't have a working camera (still ) So can I use lego factory or what ever it is? Quote
Brickthing Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Darn - I don't have any Avatar lego. There's a max of 1 entry per person right? Can we do things as obscure as possible as long as we provide the episode that it was in? Quote
jifel Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Nice pieces, but my lack of avatar parts will prevent me from entering, plus im working on a secret project. jifel Quote
Admiral Blockbeard Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I had been wanting to work on a Avatar I felt I own! This is great. I will consider my options then enter! Regards, Cpt. PB Quote

Lego12 Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Those pieces are AWESOME! I don't even like Avatar, but I'll be sure to compete! Thanks for this great raffle! Quote
iamded Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Woo! Finally Avatar and Lego are getting more attention! Great competition. As for all those complaining they don't own any Avatar sets, I don't see that as an excuse. Be creative, isn't that the point in Lego? I'll be sure to try enter this one on time! ~Peace Quote
Oky Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Awesome! Very nice idea, and a great choice for a theme! It was about time that we see more Avatar MOCs here, and this raffle (even though it's not as good as a contest) should motivate everyone to make some! Therefore, thank you so much for organizing this! I have some questions though: Can we make a separate WIP thread for our MOC? Anything is allowed, right? (custom pieces & decals etc.) Can't you at least give us a hint around when the thread will close? Can't wait to see the entries! I'm also very curious what themes the other raffles will have. Quote
Brickthing Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Ok, entry done already : I did two vignettes, one of Water-bending and one of Earth-bending. They could easily be fighting each other in a tournament. First up, Water-bending! Here my water-bender can be seen bending a large flow of water out of the well towards his opponent! His bending stance is smooth and flowing, like the water he controls. Front: Back: Next, Earth-bending! With both feet firmly in the ground like an unmoveable rock, my earth-bender flings a giant boulder from the ground towards his opponent! The rock can be be positioned on it's hinge for a high or low trajectory. Front: Back: Finally, the minifigs! Sadly New Zealand never saw any Avatar sets, so I've never had a chance to get some Avatar minifigs, but that didn't stop me from making my own! The water-bender has warm clothing on because he lives in the north pole, and the earth-bender has a helmet and uniform to match the earth kingdom that he serves guard as. Minifigs: Hope you like them! Quote
Pigbrick Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Yes! It's great to see Avatar get some more attention in the lego world! Too bad I'm seperated from most of my bricks and have a lot of work to do for college... But still ! This is great to see! Quote
Zepher Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Got to find a good scene! How long do we have, about? Quote
Ricecracker Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I've never really seen Avatar, so I did a quick wiki search (ya I know), and decided to do someone practicing Fire Bending: I based it off of this picture: More pictures here when moderated. Let me know what you think. P.S: I know that the hair doesn't work well, but I couldn't find a black Viking horn. Quote
Athos Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Aang the Last [Miniland] Airbender: The only thing I know about the Avatar is Aang is daang hard to build miniland scale... Steve Quote
Shadows Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Wow, that's a nice assortment of rare parts! Speaking of which, what colour is that helmet? Ok, fine, I know it's dark blue. How do I know it's dark blue? Because I'm wearing one myself, which presents this incredible opportunity for the winner... you could build Ian, Loyal Mob Front from the wildly popular Baritones II. Isn't that an amazing possibility? Get building! Quote
Deinonychus Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Ah, what the hell. I'm bound and determined to win a competition or contest on this site that doesn't involve me writing a funny caption for a photo. Quote
Shadows Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Are they all official pieces? They absolutely are. As a matter of fact, I actually contacted TLG in Billund once to confirm that the source of parts like this was legitimate and they did. Best they could explain was that sometimes parts are made for an event or a future set or even a special order that doesn't end up happening, other times they're just tests, but they are definitely real and legal to own. That's when I started collecting them. It gets a little expensive sometimes. Hinck never gives away goodies like this to the staff. Lucky buggers... Quote
Alywin Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 (edited) Withdrawn and never mind. Edited January 18, 2009 by Alywin Quote
Norro Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I've never really seen Avatar, so I did a quick wiki search (ya I know), That really made me smile, so well put... Dang, back one day and off topic... err, uhhh, nice prize, I could really use some of the white plants... God Bless, Nathan Quote
Hinckley Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 You don't need "Avatar parts" LEGO is a toy about imagination and countless possibilities. Use the parts you have to create something from the show. It's that simple. Quote
Thee Pirate Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 That barrel intrigues me. can we get some sort of story posted about where these pieces specifically came from? I'm now tackling a MOC for a theme I have no experience in :-p... Quote
