eti Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Okay, I googled it - it is an American TV show that imitates Asian (Japanese) shows. Interesting seeing as the Japanese have a reputation for imitating everything from the West... It is very hard to get a basic understanding of what it is about. The Wikipedia page starts the synopsis by telling us that a twelve year old airbender learns that he is the new Avatar who has to stop an impending world war, I am just about completely lost, especially since none of the terms are explained... It's more or less the same effect that Pokemon had on anyone over 8 years old. I found a site of a Dutch tv station that has fragments. I must say it all looks great (much different than, say, Pokemon!). Nice decors, funny looking characters, great colors. Nice artwork over all - only the animation is not really great. well, I got enough to find something to build one of these days - even though it's still funny to make a MOC based on a show you don't know at all. eti Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 (edited) I watched episode nine from the first season - the Waterbending Scroll. I then decided to make a Lego version of the pirate ship. It is not only my first Avatar experience, it's also my first brick built boat hull. Click images to enlarge or see it all on Flickr also on MOC Pages (four screenshots are posted for comparison, copyright nick.com) Edited January 26, 2009 by eti Quote
eti Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I took many more angles of this MOC, but I think there's a picture limitd. A picture limit? I didn't know... if I posted too many pictures, please let me know and I will remove a few. Quote
Zepher Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Wow eti! That's really great! Nice work, wonderful flowing design. Quote
Oky Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Wow eti! That's really great! Nice work, wonderful flowing design. I agree! Excellent use of pieces! In fact, all of the mini-sized entries in this raffle are great! Good job, guys! Keep 'em coming! Please? Quote
eti Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I just ordered the DVD box of the first season, because I find it quite entertaining once you get into it (and it isn't that complicated after all... somebody just oughta rewrite that Wikipedia page. On TV.com there is a perfect explanation of the basics), and I see a myriad of MOC possibilities in there as future projects, maybe. Quote
