Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted January 21, 2009 Eurobricks Emperor Posted January 21, 2009 I've been building my new English ship-of-the-line for some time now (I might post some WIP pictures in the coming weeks) and was planning to use the new imperial soldier as marines. When I went shopping yesterday evening, to my surprise, I saw the new impulse sets in a toy shop and immediately bought a bunch of them. It feels good to finally have them in my hands Quote
Barbaros Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Congrats Bonaparte having finally gotten your hands on the new pirate sets! I was wondering about something similar, what shall I do with the new British soldiers while they don't share similar looks to the older ones, so having them as your marines is a good idea to start off with! Any particular popular British ships you aim to re-create? Quote
Da Death Star! Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 13 Marines?*Whistles*I hope your ship goes well. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I've just recently obtained one of thes and i must say i love the design, the back print and printed shako are a great touch. These will look excellent on that big lovely kano of yours! Quote
Capt. Kirk Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 (edited) Haha... they are in Belgium... let's get shoppin' Edited January 21, 2009 by Capt. Kirk Quote
Capn Frank Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 It feels good to finally have them in my hands Are you going to be giving any of your new marines a "shave"? Are these impulse sets the same price as the Cannon Battle set? They are in the U.S., so i only buy the Cannon Battle sets. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted January 21, 2009 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted January 21, 2009 Any particular popular British ships you aim to re-create? I'm using the HMS Vanguard as a model for my ship. Haha... there in Belgium... let's get shoppin' I only found the 2 impulse sets (this one and the pirate with the fish on a stick). No bigger pirates sets spotted so far in Belgium. Are you going to be giving any of your new marines a "shave"? Ah yes, good point. I ordered 13 normal heads (without beards) on BL. It a shame these are coming with beards. Are these impulse sets the same price as the Cannon Battle set? They are in the U.S., so i only buy the Cannon Battle sets. Can't help you there P. I didn't find any of the cannon sets yet in our stores. Quote
Capt. Kirk Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I only found the 2 impulse sets (this one and the pirate with the fish on a stick). No bigger pirates sets spotted so far in Belgium. And the prize for one set is... 2,5euro or 3euro ? Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 You've picked a nice ship to base your MOC on. I haven't seen the new pirates sets though... Can't wait to see your WIP's! Quote
Capn Frank Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I'm using the HMS Vanguard as a model for my ship. Ah, A 74 gun Ship. the HMS Vanguard is about the same size as the Constitution of 44 guns. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Are you going to build it in real minifig scale like Phred does? Or do you make something like the La Mort Royale? Quote

Are you going to build it in real minifig scale like Phred does? Or do you make something like the La Mort Royale? I'm building mine on standard hull pieces. The scale will be what I call "minifig simulation scale" It will look like minifig scale, but yet it is a not (kinda like La Mort Royale). Not easy Quote
Neptune Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Good luck building your ship! Nice turso by the way I was using them for a year before joining the forum. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Good luck building your ship! Nice turso by the way I was using them for a year before joining the forum. Which torso? The one from Bonaparte's avatar? I thought it was custom because of that medal. Quote
Zorro Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Looks good Bonaparte, they will make outstanding marines I hope. I haven't seen any other sets either, although I only went to one shop so far. Quote
Neptune Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Which torso? The one from Bonaparte's avatar? I thought it was custom because of that medal. oops. I meant tursos. The ones on the Pirate Turso Index. Quote
ZCerberus Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Are these impulse sets the same price as the Cannon Battle set? They are in the U.S., so i only buy the Cannon Battle sets. Only at TRU my man- and then they are prices $1 higher then retail- get the cannon battles at Target instead and save a dollar. Luckily for my I can get them at the Lego Imagination Center in Bloomington where everything is priced at retail! Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 (edited) Good luck building your ship! Nice torso by the way I was using them for a year before joining the forum. I think he means he was a lurker and used Boney's torso from our brilliant Torso Library. Anyway, welcome to Eurobricks and Classic-Pirates.com Neptune! Which torso? The one from Bonaparte's avatar? I thought it was custom because of that medal. What? You mean he created that medal himself? I was under the impression he had earned it! Just joking Bonaparte, you certainly deserve one. Bonaparte, this army of marines is looking quite grand, and I was thinking about doing the same thing. But I can't due to the sets not being released here until July, and it would cost me too much. I think I'll just wait and pray for a battle pack. But I sure think this ship will be something special! Edited January 22, 2009 by Captain Zuloo Quote

Specever Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Great, an army of clone pirates... For the love of god, change their heads. Quote
Ratshot Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 At my local TRU they sell every type of Lego possible BUT NO IMPULSE SETS!!! Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 (edited) Boneparte, shouldn't this thread be in the MOC and MOD sub-forum? I dunno about minifigs, but I'm thinking as you wanted this to be a WIP thread as well... Edited January 24, 2009 by Captain Zuloo Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted January 24, 2009 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted January 24, 2009 Boneparte, shouldn't this thread be in the MOC and MOD sub-forum? I dunno about minifigs, but I'm thinking as you wanted this to be a WIP thread as well... Nope, it's about an official set, so the thread is at the right place. If I make a WIP thread for my ship it'll be another one. Quote
