Future74 Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 (edited) I was reminded of my "old school" toys that are boxed up in my attic and here are some panoramics of them compared to the lego designs. Anyone else got pictures as well? Feel free to add them! AT-ST X-wing Y-wing (Mini)figures Stormtrooper with E-Web heavy repeating blaster Greets, Future74. Edited January 25, 2009 by Future74 Quote
KimT Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 The link is 'dead' please fix. Ahh the good ol' Star Wars toys. Sadly I'd only get the figs and I think my mother gave them to charity years back. It would be great to have more comparison pics of the LEGO verus other non-brick toys. Quote

Legoking Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Very good comparison you have here. My opinion is that the Lego Star Wars toys destroy the Star Wars action by far. And also because Star Wars looks much better in Lego form to me. Quote
Darth Legolas Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Wow, they're almost the same.... I don't really know what that proves besides Lego is awesome. Quote
darkrebellion Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Wow! Now that you put them shoulder to shoulder they look almost the same and that means that the TLC have done a good job. Also I think the old SW toys were way better than the new ones (I am talking about Kenner and Hasbro not including lego here). The old playsets and vehicles were much more imaginative then the nowadays design. Also I think that is why lego is so great in SW cause the TLC can release a lot of really big ships and thing of the SW universe but then Hasbro just release repaints over repaints . Quote
mania3 Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 One thing I always hated growing up with those Star Wars toys was how undersized the ships were compared to the figures. In the films, the X-Wing was huge compared to Luke, but with the toy that difference was hard to capture. Due to the size of the minifigure I think LEGO is able to do a much better job of capturing the impressiveness of some of these fighters. What a cool topic idea. Thanks for posting this for everyone to see. Interestingly enough, I still have all my classic Star Wars ships and action figures, but I don't collect Star Wars LEGO sets, so a comparison would be impossible. Quote

TLC has done a great job with creating the SW sets, but you have to remember that time hasnt stood still. Last years TLC has made a giant leap (for mankind ) in their development. I mean look at the 1998-2002 sets, they werent as acurate as the ones that come out these days. The Sith Infiltrator is a good example to name one. Yes, the lego sets are definitly more realistic size wise than the old toys. Shame you dont collect SW Lego... would have loved to see more comparisons. Especially some of the toys I didnt get when I was young. Quote
iotacode Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Thanks for sharing these Kenner vintages :) Brings back alot of memories from that period, good old days. Yes Lego is perhaps more accurate even compare to the current Hasbro's. Quote
