the_lego_dude Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 This is a ship I finished about to weeks ago, but never got it posted. So here she is now. Everything but the sails and rigging is pure Lego. Flickr for more pictures Quote
Legoking Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 This is a pretty cool little ship you have here. My favorite part about your ship are the sails becuase they look so neatly cut out and fit your ship well. Is it possible for you to post some close-ups of your ship because I can't really see the detail on your ship that well. LegoKing Quote
Admiral Bejaune Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 This is great. The shape of the hull is very realistic looking. Good job with the mast and rigging. The color scheme works very well, Im surprised about how well the dark red and red go together. Very nice work. One thing that could improve IMO are the sails... They look good, but you could use a different material thats not as white. I believe there is a tutorial about it. Quote
Capt. Kirk Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 This is good. The shape of the hull is very realistic looking and nice colours too. Good job with the mast and rigging also. But I follow HMS243 about the sails... they look really good of shape, but you could maybe use a different colour - not white. Maybe draw stripes or something else on it, just to break the purity of the white. But in general... great !!! Quote
CPT. Jr Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 a good tip for coloring white sails is coffee, you can make the cloth look weathered by soaking/dying it in coffee, although it may hold the fragrance for awhile. Note different coffee's give different shades, test it on scrap cloth first... Looks good! Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I like everything on this ship, the hull, the rigging everything looks great. Keep it up! Quote
the_lego_dude Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 (edited) Thanks guys. I wasn't really very happy with the sails myself. But at the time I didn't have anything besides paper on hand, so I just had to use what I had. I will probably try some of your suggestions whenever I make another ship. Asuka Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 A very fast looking vessel with a very interesting sail plan and a neat rigging indeed. Quote
