AmperZand Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I just explained that I wanted a full set and that was it and said there was a way to tell which was which, but it's more time consuming than the barcode method (which they were familiar with). I then explained that the packs I returned wouldn't be opened. Obviously, I had to pay for 60 initially, but they were happy for me to return the unopened ones, which I will do today. I did something similar when S1 came out. I went to the nearest Argos to my office during my lunch break. I bought 60 minifigures on a credit card, sorted them, kept the ones I wanted and returned the rest. I told the staff what I intended to do before I did it and they were completely OK with that. The refund was quick so on that month's credit card bill, I only had to pay for the ones I kept, i.e. I wasn't left out of pocket. However, when I tried to do that with S2, the management of that branch of Argos had implemented a rule limiting the number of minifigures to 4 per customer. So I went to WH Smith and spent a fortune there instead. Amps
Big Pete Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 5487 Parts Box for £7.13 at Asda. 700 pieces, so that's pretty much 1p per piece. A whopping 67% discount. The shelf price may say £14.25, but the lower price will ring out at the till.
timbutnice Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Amazon have a few deals I haven't seen before, including HP Burrow 25% off. cheers, timbutnice
charlieboy Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Anybody around the Brighton area might like to know that Toys R Us in Hove have two almost full boxes of S3 minifigs in stock on the tills.
S_alvyn10 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Am currently in the westfields store. Loads of keyrings for sale. They are going for 90p. Moreover I have been told that each box of series 3 has 3 of each minifigs and some extras.

S_alvyn10 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Do they have any jester or Max keyrings on sale? Sorry for the late reply. I did not find any jexter but there were definitely Max keyrings, but not on sale. Atlantis pack of three, star wars pack of three, and some single harry potter, star wars, kingdom ones were on sale.
buddy Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Amazon have a few deals I haven't seen before, including HP Burrow 25% off. cheers, timbutnice Thanks for the tip off, I've just bought a 4840 The Burrow at 25% off. ~buddy~
SilentMode Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Update on Westfield: Black fence pieces spotted in PAB. A selection of keyring figures from Star Wars, Atlantis, Harry Potter and Kingdoms have been discounted to just 90p. (If you go there please grab me some Manta Warriors!) A selection of Star Wars and Atlantis magnet sets have been discounted - the Star Wars ones are 2.70, the Atlantis ones 2.40 I think. One of the Star Wars spaceships (they all look alike to me - it's in white and dark red) is discounted to 66.99 (I think). The Vintage Minifigure Collection of females is discounted to 3.60 - only a few of them left! Not so many S3 minifigures at the till now, they're in a compartment on the left. The nearby toy shop and WH Smiths have also started selling S3 minifigures near the tills at the front of the shop.
buddy Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 At my local WHSmiths this morning, they had a poster in the window advertising that they were selling S3 Minifigs and they had 2 boxes of S3 Minifigs behind the main tills and 1 box at the customer service desk. I looked throught the one at the customer sevice desk for fisherman, but it looked like somebody had beaten me to all of the fisherman. ~buddy~
buddy Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 John Lewis now have the 3365 City Space Moon Buggy set available now, but I already have one on pre-order from Amazon. Also John Lewis still have 7570 PoP Ostrich Race available for £7 at 50% off. ~buddy~
Dunjohn Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I was in Tesco today and they were selling NinjaGo at very strange prices. Much lower than they should be, but it wasn't a special offer or anything; it might even be an error. Single spinners for €5.23 (should be €8.99), starters and the motorbike set for €10.30 (should be €15.99). They didn't have any other sets, my local Tesco is quite lousy for Lego, but maybe someone can check if this is the same in every store.
buddy Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Argos have the 3849 Orient Bazaar game at 1/3 off so it is now £11.99 instead of £17.99. Pic via Brickset is link to Argos website page: ~buddy~
Darth Jar Jar Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 John lewis the other day were selling the orient bazzar for £6 so I bought one and some off the other games they also had ehro factory %50 off
Rumble Strike Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Not a specific sales item but a question, think it fits best here with all the UK peeps. When will the supermarkets (mainly Tesco) and Toys R Us get the new sets in? I'm getting antsy seeing the stuff come in in dribs and drabs - TRU has some NinjaGo stuff and the new series 3 Minifigures, Tesco has some smaller NinjaGo sets and the new Lego Racers sets, of all things! I hope they get the series 3 sets in soon, series 2 seemed a strong seller. But where are the new Star Wars sets? Where is the 2011 Atlantis stuff? When will we see Pharaoh's Quest on shop shelves?
sci-fi Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Rumble Strike, check the new argos catalogue out on saturday i think, they shouda updated the lego
Rumble Strike Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I didn't realise we were that close to getting a new Argos catalogue, I'll keep an eye out. Thanks :classic:

Now!:) My local ASDA(Northants area) had Pharoahs Quest, Ninja Go, new Atlantis and Starwars sets in stock last night. Not the complete range, mainly just the small to medium size sets. Still no series 3 minifigs tho!

Thanks for letting us know about the availability of the new sets at ASDA. 7634 being £1.97 isn't just your store, see here. ASDA sometimes misprice sets, last year I bought 2 8401 City Minifigure Collections at £1.47 each instead of the usual RRP of £5.99 back then. ~buddy~
Rumble Strike Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Thanks for the heads up all. I did check my local Asda on Saturday night and it had nothing new at all, so perhaps they'll have new stuff in when I go next.
NovaStar Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Smyths in Mitcham had quite a lots of new sets when we were there last week
SilentMode Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Caught a glimpse of what appeared to be the new Argos catalogue a couple of hours ago. Here's what I remember... The new bank set's in there as an "exclusive", around GBP 44.99 (or was it 41.99). The new police station is in there too, as well as the dog van and I think the police boat. The yellow truck is discounted to GBP 19.99. 2 for £15 deal on a city police helicopter. In general the prices appear to be RRP.

Tesco should be remerchandising their toy plans in just over a weeks time, this should see the start of 2011 toys being introduced. The toys should arrive in stores next week and the plans should be on the computer system as well. If I get the chance I will run the plans for my store and let you know what is coming. The reason most Tescos have Ninjago is because they were sent a Lego shipping unit in, as an off fixture display that in most stores has probably been emptied onto the fixture to plug spaces caused by the after xmas period. Keep your eyes peeled as some of the new lines may make their way onto shelves early to help fill spaces. I know for a fact my store received some more Harry Potter Lego which we have not had for some time. (Hagrids Hut, Quiditch Match and Dobbies Release incase your interested) Also next week could see further reductions on any sets which are discountinued to make way for new stock.
