Thanks much for the info, I'm glad to see those two characters get more screen time, they are some of my favorite (remaining ones  ).

Glad you two enjoyed the infomation. I have some here, and shall report more in the future.

Episode 7 - Dr. Linus - Likely a Ben centric episode. There are rumors that instead of flashforwards/backwards, we're getting flash sideways into some alternate reality. Apperently Sayid works at a church and Bens a high school teacher! Unlikely, but...

Dr. Arzt (the highschool teacher killed by dinamite), Alex (Bens adopted daughter), Keamy (the Mercinary who killed Alex), Omar (One of Keamy's thugs), Charlie, Shannon, Boone, Helan Norwood (Lockes dead ex-girlfriend) and more are slated to reappear!

Rousseua and Micheal are not coming back.

Ilana is confirmed to be a main cast member

What? Either this is a hoax, or the producers have really lost it this time.

BTW, it's FlashLateral.

(Nah, I don't really know, but FlashLateral sounds cooler).

Remind me- how did Helen die again? I completely forgot.

Rousseua and Micheal are not coming back.

I figured that Michael was off permanently after season 4 when he got a main role in a new show (The Outsiders, or something like that).

Cancer, or some terminal illness. -shrug-

Who? :look:

A girl from the latest crash. She's all super mysterious and things.

8. Recon - Sawyer. Recon seems to suggest he's either collecting info from somone in the army (a basic description of the word Recon), or its a play on the words re-con, as if the redo a confindance scam.

L. Scott Caswell (Rose) has been seem around a filming sight of a school, as has Daniel Roebuck (Dr Arzt), Alex, Karl, Ben and Locke. Roger (Ben's dad, is also back in!

Season six, episode 1 & 2 were utterly awesome.

"It worked"

"Sorry you had to see me like that"

Sayid.

Season 1 was great.

Season 2 was alright.

Season 3 was dull and disappointing.

Season 4 was pretty good.

Season 5 was great.

Season 6, (the final season) will be?....

Since this thread has been dead for a while, I propose this be an all-spoilers thread. Anyone disagree?

By 'all spoilers' do you mean we are free to talk about anything in the previous episode?

Loved the season opener, can't wait to see where it goes (I have some questions but I'll hold off until I can post spoilers).

Well, I meant that, but looking back at this thread, it's not right for me to declare that spoilers are off in someone else's thread. All the same, I don't want to discuss this action packed last season

all like this.

I'll wait to hear from the OP.

I agree, a spoiler warning should be put in the subtitle so that we don't have to continue with these annoying spoiler tags...

In the meantime, though...

I really did enjoy the season premier of Season 6. Bringing back characters like Charlie and Claire is definitely a good move, and I look forward to seeing Arzt again. It was interesting to see how everything has changed so much since the electro-bomb exploded. I also liked how everything is still a mystery, and the question of "alternate realities" is left unanswered.

I expect the show would end at the exact same moment that it started. That would be very interesting, so the cycle would go on and on. Anything could happen, though, so that's just my guess.

EDIT: Hate to burst your bubble, def, but Bloody Jay hasn't been around for a long time. I suggest we just ask a mod to add it in the title. You would expect people to use common sense and stay away from this thread if they didn't want spoilers, but it is inevitable that that one person will come along...

A blank square is preventing you from watching a TV show?

EDIT: Ahh, now it's showing up. Still doesn't excuse the fact they are using 'Downtown' by Petula Clark as their base song.

A mod has been contacted, and the change made (Arigato seiuchi-san :classic: )

I like your theory about the show ending where it began. It would make a nice tidy circle.

I need to watch the season 5 finale again to figure out all that happened. But, some major progress was made in this premiere, and a handful of new questions... specifically what was that temple about? I totally enjoyed it, but I wonder why it was basically a Mayan temple? What's it all about? :look:

Just thought I'd bring this up before the new episode tomorrow- did anyone else notice the two kids in the Others' temple? The boy and the girl were taken by the Others way back in Season 2, when the front plane survivors met the back. I always wondered what happened to them.

I still don't understand why these people are Others, though- we've never seen them until now. I wonder if they're Others at all...

And are Rose and Bernard still camping out in the jungle by themselves? I know this was explained last season, but I wonder if they're off the show now (as far as current time is- not flashbacks).

The last two episodes (5 & 6) were phenomenal. This is my favorite season so far. The pacing and story delivery is perfect.

I love that the smoke monster is now a character. I love that Claire is possessed by him, and possibly Said. I love that the numbers are those of the candidates.

What did the Japanese man say to Hurley in the temple? Hard to get 100% since he speaks like a samurai, and I haven't learned samurai Japanese, but he always talks down to him, and the last part was "If you enter this temple, I'm going to cut off your head."

Agreed, this is turning out spectacularly so far. However, Season 3 is still my favorite.

What did Claire Sayed? She Said something. Sayid.

It wasn't really anything important, just something like "you shouldn't be here", "Jacob sent me" "Koowah!" Anything beyond that is past me, you're probably the most qualified to translate anything he said in Japanese.

I like the chemistry between Jacob and his nemesis, the smoke monster (see below for Jacob and the unnamed human form of the smoke monster):

800px-5x16_Jacob_and_nemesis.png

If you got the "inside joke" a few episodes ago, the two rocks (one light and one dark colored) were on the scale, equally weighted. "Smokie" threw the light-colored stone into the sea, representing the fact that Jacob (apparently the "good" force) has been defeated by Smokie, the evil force.

My theory is, because of the equality between the two opposing forces, Jacob and Smoke can't kill each other. Which is why they "need help" from outsiders and manipulate them. Neither of them are actually still alive (that picture above took place in the 1600s, when their human lives took place), so they have to take over dead people's bodies/ appearances. We see this with Christian, Jack's father, when his casket was found to be empty on the island when Jacob takes his appearance, and when Smoke takes Locke's appearance.

We also saw that Jacob's cabin had a ring of ash around it to keep the smoke monster out. In the season premier, one of the gunmen that carried the real Locke's casket poured a ring of ash around himself to protect from the smoke monster.

So Jacob and Smoke are constantly trying to kill each other. They've both been dead for centuries, but each took an option to live on in spirit. Jacob made a list of candidates to be his heir, and gathered them up via his ghost form (that no one except for the intended person can see). Smoke, as his name implies, lives on in the form of the Smoke monster.

Another thing to note, that I think is quite interesting, is the fact that the chemistry between Jacob and Smoke mirrors that of Jack and Locke, which was emphasized in past seasons (particularly 4). Explaining these relationships would take far to long, so I'll just say that since Locke has already been taken over by Smoke, I think Jack will be taken over by Jacob. As said in the most recent episode, "Jack is ready". Jacob already took over Jack's father, once, so that was the next best thing at the time for Jacob. Maybe Jack is the only one that can stop Locke.

Finally, the last part of my theory for the finale season, is that Smoke is trying to manipulate Jacob's candidates into killing each other. If he was telling the truth to Sawyer, about being one of Jacob's possible heirs, then he wants any chance of Jacob returning to be obliterated. Sawyer was the "weakest" one of the five remaining candidates, being heartbroken and all that, so Sawyer will possibly be manipulated into killing the other candidates and/ or himself.

Since Claire, not being one of the candidates, was taken in by Jacob, then somehow possessed by Smoke, has Jin, I think he will be killed next.

I wonder what all of this leads up to. Protecting/ destroying the island? Only time will tell.

Strange, 3 is my least favorite. Too long, too many time killing episodes. The last 2-3 episodes of 3 I liked lots, then I loved all of season 4 and 5.

Interesting interpretations. I got the joke with the rock, but the stuff about them being from the 1600's I don't know. Probably something like that. Smokie said something to Richard Alpert about being free again, which implies he was on the slave ship originally, or something. There's a lot to take in, so I need to read through the write-ups on Entertainment Weekly. They have fairly in depth interpretations there.

I should watch through all the seasons again, but I just don't have that sort of time

Well, somewhere around there. I guess I got that from the slave ship, but I remember reading that that was the era. Those recap episodes. maybe?

I get my LOST reading in from IGN. Probably not as in depth, but they do have a few interesting theories there.

Same here. I watched seasons 1-4 for the first time last January, and I'm debating whether to watch them again. They were great the first time around, but nothing in this sort is ever as good the second time around. And watching all seasons is very time consuming, each season being at least 15 hours long.

No wonder it's fresh in your head. I watched season 1 the summer after it came out, and the rest as they appeared. So that was starting 4-5 years ago. It's hard to keep track of everything

The Lighthouse episode was the best so far this season in my opinion. It's really starting to pick up, can't wait for the next one! Did anyone catch the name of number 108 (the number Jacob told Hurley to turn the wheel to)?

I found a recap show the other day; although the host is kind of annoying, I did find it useful just to hear some different interpretations of things:

Actually, I think it's the kind of show that keeps a lot of interest on second and even third watching, because they keep putting little clues all over the place that we don't notice at first and then take a whole new meaning after knowing the events that come next. Kind of like the Harry Potter books and such... Unfortunately, as you say, time is a rather big problem lately...

I love the way they manage to give us answers while still keeping a level of mystery. Like the numbers : we finally learnt their meaning, but now we need to know the meaning of that meaning. It's like some matroesjka. It never ends and yet it still feels like we're going forward...

But then by the time I rewatch them, I already know what they mean because I've already seen future episodes. Before watching the whole show in order online, I saw a few episodes of Season 3 on TV, which kind of spoiled a few mysteries of previous episodes.

Anyway, here is the weekly article on IGN that I read. Like I said, the writer has some very interesting theories. But if you take a look at the second to last paragraph, on the third and final page...

However, let's also return to looking at the FSU as a true parallel universe, created by the hydrogen bomb explosion. The introduction of the lighthouse and the mirror inside it opens up some new questions. Good ol' angry Jack smashed the mirror shortly after seeing it, furious to learn Jacob had been watching him from afar and assuming this went back to his childhood when he saw his childhood home in the mirror. But I can't help wondering – what if that mirror actually looked at the FSU? What if it was the key to there indeed being a gateway between the two worlds and the ability for characters to cross between them?

I was wondering this as well. Does that mean Jack just broke the line between the two alternate universes, and neither can co-exist? Why would Jacob want that? Here's another interesting one:

Another idea to ponder – what if the FSU, by splitting the characters (at least those still alive in the original timeline) into two places at once, left the two versions lacking components the other needs to be a fully realized person? We see the "better" sides of people's personas coming up in the FSU (there are exceptions, such as Charlie), but what if that's because the more negative traits were left behind in the original universe? And to make things right, they must be reintegrated, in some manner?

If you read the article, you would know another theory is about the fact that the alternate universe has the characters with better (and much different) lives than they had in the original universe- almost like Heaven. However, this "Heaven" exists without [most of] the bad, and the original universe exists without most of the good. If Jack just broke the barrier, does that mean the two will coexist, or that they will never get to coexist?

I haven't read the IGN article, but...There was a lot of other mirror references. The episode was bringing back the first season episode, "White Rabbit", which is of course a play on Alice in Wonderland. This new episode had a white rabbit (Jack gets the key from the white rabbit) and his son is reading Through the Looking Glass, the sequel to Alice. In that, in order to get to Wonderland, Alice basically falls through the mirror. The writers aren't being literal with their references, but they were heavily implying the existence of mirror worlds, and that you could travel between... if you had the key. The other interesting point in that episode was that Jacob knew Jack would behave that way, implying that Jack's upteenth tantrum was all part of Jacob's plan.

Eleven more episodes left! :oh:

Crazy crazy stuff tonight.

Sayid is lost. People are dead. Not-Locke is on the move.

This is one of the busiest paced stories I've ever seen on network TV. Not a wasted moment.

Agreed! I don't think I've liked Sayid this much as a character before- that fight with the ninja guy was so badass! I was somewhat sad to see the new characters- ninja and hippie- go so soon, but their deaths definitely contributed to the episode is a good way.

I guess the theory about Smoke wanting to destroy everything on the island and Jacob wanting to save it are proving themselves to be right.

But here's a crazy theory- what if there is no evil? What if Jacob has been playing both parts- himself and his enemy- in order to successfully destroy the island and everything on it? What if every specific event had to happen for that reason? Out there, I know... but Lost has been known for it's twists. We're expecting that there is a conflict between two un-earthly characters, but maybe it's not what it seems?

Also, remember the "scale" that Ninja used to determine Sayid's level of good and evil? More proof of the two dimensions co-existing? In this episode we saw Sayid for the first time in the parallel universe- and saw that unlike the other's universes, who had one good and one not-so-good life, both of Sayid's were bad. He was "evil incarnate".

Exciting stuff. :sweet:
