Posted February 2, 200916 yr The Humboldt 22 Rocket Bomber is a spaceship used for the interception of missiles/asteroids/space debris. It has also seen success in several military campaigns across the galaxy. Essentially, I just wanted to build an awesome looking spaceship, and I mostly have red bricks... XD I've seen this method used for rocket launchers before, and thought I'd try it on a fighter. Just some rear shots, showcasing the engines, fins, and weapon/comm setup. The cockpit in all its glory. The intrepid pilot. Comments, compliments and critiques are appreciated. Hope you enjoy it! Cheers! -Nich
February 2, 200916 yr Small and sleek. Perfect for missions you described. Improvements might include landing gear, fuel tanks for extended missions, and a functioning cockpit that opens without having to detach the windscreen. I would also switch out gray parts for something more colorful or flashy, yellow, chrome, dark turquoise, orange, or even white. Old school stuff is very interesting for me also, so I would recommend playing around with having more studs exposed and adding trans parts for lights, weapons, or decoration. MOC on!
February 2, 200916 yr I am liking the overall design. It is very Galactica-ish. I am not too fond of the back of the engines. The front is a very nice design, but I don't like the gears as outputs. I was drawn to this post first by the name you used. I went to Humboldt State in northern California. :)

Hm, I did try the landing gear, but nothing seemed to work right...I'll give the opening cockpit a try for sure! A flashier color than red?! I can think of none, sir! I actually tiled this up as an afterthought...if I leave things untiled, I get about 5 comments that studs are ugly. Simple construction and solid lines make it a lovely build. Good work! Thanks! I wasn't aiming for Galactica heights, but hey, it works! Hm...interesting....I actually named it after the Humboldt Squid, an aggressive species prone to violence at any time. Perhaps there's a link between the squid and the university...maybe the founder discovered the squid?

Alexander von Humboldt was an explorer, and actually has 12 flora and fauna named after him as well as a number of towns, and even a college . I think the Humboldt Squid is actually named after the place it is found since it is found mainly in the Humboldt Current in the eastern Pacific Ocean. Now I am done with my teaching lesson for the day. Can't tell I am a school teacher can you?
February 6, 200916 yr A neat and clear design. I like especially the distinct front part and these 'stabilizers' at the sides, but like Loganwan I´m not fond of the gears used as parts of the engine. I actually tiled this up as an afterthought...if I leave things untiled, I get about 5 comments that studs are ugly. The glossy look fits pretty well to your fighter... however, there´s nothing wrong with studs on top either... just because it´s not 'fashionable' enough for some SNOT hipsters... na, their opinion should not necessarily influence your own building style. Revenge of the stud on!

Some things look better "studded", some look better "unstudded", a nice blend of both is the best. Nice moc, only I think the part in front of the cockpit would look better untiled. Interesting use for those steering wheels.
February 7, 200916 yr Aww, everyone is awesome at making space ships except me! Seriously though this is fantastic, I actually like the back of the engines. I think the nose should be domed though. I always loved red spaceships and this one definitely has personality, great work! Batbrick Away!
