Inspired by the men who researched the Texel and posted their research, I have decided to share mine as well. Since I live in western Pennsylvania, far from the ocean, I don't have many pirate areas nearby. However, the area that I live in was a hotbed of activity during the 7 Years War (1756-1763) and the Whiskey Rebellion (1794). Here are the pictures that I'm planning on using as reference in a future MOC.

Not a problem, I should have some more photos coming up in the next few weeks, there are a lot of sites around Pittsburgh.

Looks interesting. Looking forward to your MOC!

Agreed and seconded.

Broadside, you appear to have quoted Cap'n Blackmoor's post yet haven't written anything beneath it - what were you going to say to him?

Phes, Broadside is just being lazy :) he used someone Else's words to express his words.

Well he could at least wrote "I agree" or something. We'd rather not have such laziness at Eurobricks.

Anyway... I've done some research for Huntleyfx.

Huntleyfx, have you visited Wikipedia's Whiskey Rebellion article

Here's the intro paragraph:

The Whiskey Rebellion, less commonly known as the Whiskey Insurrection, was a popular uprising that had its beginnings in 1791 and culminated in an insurrection in 1794 in the locality of Washington, Pennsylvania, in the Monongahela Valley. The rebellion was the result of tax imposed on whiskey. The rebellion occurred shortly after the Articles of Confederation had been replaced by a stronger federal government under the American Constitution in 1789.

Indeed I have, and I found it quite informative. In case there were questions about the dates that I was talking about; I refer to the 1794 date because that was the time of the open rebellion. (I realize there were earlier events, including the various Tom the Tinker incidents, but I classify these more as acts of protest as opposed to rebellion; as in punishable, but not a treasonous offense.)

Thank you for the redirect to additional information, and please feel free to do so again; even if one knows about a site, it never hurts to be reminded of it.

And what be your interest in the Whiskey Rebellion? What kind of MOC might you create in the future?

By the way...

I've posted some pictures of the building in your post since threads with pictures tend to get more attention.

Thank you very much for adding the photos to the post. My interest in the Whiskey Rebellion stems from my area, as unfortunately, we did not have that many pirates in Western Pennsylvania. But my interest in pirates (part of my family is from North Carolina) led me to research my area during the time period more, which led to the Rebellion. I was looking at those buildings for reference so I could add a small plantation of the time period to my port, and eventually a small church. Thanks again!
