Al7 Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Its going to be made. Those who have the 2009 pirates sets are exited for wave two, and if they make a wave two there will be a Shiny new boat for the imperials. And you can post what you think its going to be like. I think its going to be double the size of brick beards bounty with 5 canons and will include a red-coated Grand admiral and a Scottish looking cook . It will be as always smaller than the pirate ship its not a secret Lego use to do that and i bet they will do the same again plus they want to keep their good quality and lower prices not as it was before whichc their concept was good quality at the necesary price to spend in so that's how ships like the BSB and SES cames out thing which is not going to happend again since the new politics of Lego. Quote
SeaKing61 Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Of course it would be smaller than the pirates boat! Otherwise the Imperials will start winning and TLC will have to change the theme's name to LEGO Imperials and that would be a marketing nightmare Laurie Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted February 7, 2009 Governor Posted February 7, 2009 I am afraid TLC will go with the tradition: pirates always have the bigger ship. So it will be a small one we get... Don't be so sure. In recent times the LEGO Group has taken fan input into consideration, so if they considered a larger ship to be profitably viable then maybe one day it could happen. However, before there can be anymore Pirate sets of any sub-theme, the 2009 pirate sets currently released will need to make strong sales. Quote

I agree with Phes, just look at Medieval Market, that definatlly had something to do with the fans wants. Quote
MillerTime Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 However, before there can be anymore Pirate sets of any sub-theme, the 2009 pirate sets currently released will need to make strong sales. Excellent point. So far, I believe only the two impulses have even made the top 25 selling list for Lego....compared to what seems to be loads of Star Wars and even City sets. Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I agree with Phes, just look at Medieval Market, that definatlly had something to do with the fans wants. Very true, if AFOLs hadn't been asking for non-war based castle sets for such a long time, we would never have seen Medieval Market. I think the only way we could get a larger ship would be to continue what we are doing now - being active in a pirate forum, constantly trying to convey the message that we would buy a larger pirate set. I would be willing to pay $500 AUD for a really good pirate set. But I think we are more likely to get something of eaqual or lower size to the BB. Quote
Zorro Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I would be willing to pay $500 AUD for a really good pirate set. But I think we are more likely to get something of eaqual or lower size to the BB. PLEASE let it be equal to the BB's size...that would already be such a progress for Imperial ships! And it would be more accurate, since the Pirate ships were mostly smaller vessels, armed to the teeth of course! If TLG would ever take a poll "Would you pay 200/300 USD for a Special Edition large (pirate/soldier) ship?" Well...YES, OF COURSE! If ever released, and I think its highly doubtful unless we can somehow pust them to make it (maybe if we grow even bigger and make an "open communication thread with TLG" or something...), it would probably be a "Special Edition", because only AFOLS (and wealthy children) would be willing to pay that prize. Thee Pirate Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Umm.....yeah.I imagine it'd be a mid-sized ship, not near Brickbeard's Bounty but more around the piece count of Shipwreck Hideout. I would classify BB as a midsized ship, it only has two hull center sections. The only two ships with one center section would be what I would call small ships (IF, and CC). Everything smaller than that (Renegade Runner, CBC, and the one that comes with the ITP are what I would call boats. the only one of those three that has any grace is the boat that comes with the ITP, it actually has decent proportions.. Nikola Bathory Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Yes, I think that we badly need am Imperial ship!!!! I really hope that LEGO will release one this year! Quote
Tordenskjold Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 On my wishlist for a new ship is a big ship. like BSB but with 8 cannons. 4 oldstyle( those at present day) and 4 or more smaller cannons like the ones we build for upper deck. would be sooo nice to be able to have a small copy of the cannons we have today :) and when they can made Millennium falcon for star wars they can made a BIG ship for us to imagine two colors (main color of ship) and with some expansion set that would allow us to change the look of the ship, like to make two ships fight each other . But now im dreaming. first i must have the sets that isnt out yet . then ill look for even newer sets Quote
m'kheyl Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 With its 2 hull sections the BB is priced 85€ on S@H, I guess they could easily add a third hull section + 2 canons without going much higher than ~120€. That would be a pretty cool set I think and very affordable. Let's hope that the BB sells well Quote
randomparrot Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I'm hoping they have some kind of contraption to lower a smaller boat down into the water if not i'll have to make my own. it's probably going to slightly smaller even though realism wise it should be bigger but let's not go there... SlyOwl Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Check out this picture from Lego Universe - - The ship design is almost identical to the Black Seas Barracuda, only with Skull's Eye Schooner colour scheme - The pirate holding the flagpole is in the Vintage Minifig Collection 2 - The "Captain" has a face more similar to Redbeard than Brickbeard - The pirate in the bottom left corner has a classic torso, although of the later sets - The Captain and the closest pirate's torsos look new - The Captain's plume is a discontinued (obsolete, maybe?) part - Anything else? Bricklanta Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 An Imperial Ship would probably be a little smaller than the pirate ship. One thing though because if lego does have another pirate wave they will need a big $100 set. Which set would that be? Another pirate ship? Quote
JadeIceGreen Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I am hoping that lego will finally produce a decent Imperial Ship, at least comparable to the BB. Quote
THE-FORCE Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Nice find. - The skull&crossbones is the original (good) version - Captains torso looks a bit of a mix between "steve" and redbeard Who is "steve"? But I would also like an Imperial Ship, with lots of cannons! Greets, The Force! Quote
SlyOwl Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 -The masts are the new ones Really? They and the spars look pretty non-part renderings to me, although they bear greater resemblance to the new ones, it's true. Who is "steve"? This cool dude - Quote

Bricks Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Is this a indication of a new Ship?-picture- What for a nice picture! Hopeful an indication of a new set. I really love the colour: blue~white. And the captain looks amazing, too. Please LEGO give us this ship! 'Bricks' Quote
BlueBard Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I know this information has been discussed here already but today I was looking for the new IJ or Pirates sets in a toy store (yes, we still don't have them in Spain... ) and I heard another guy asking the toy seller about the new pirate line. He told him that a new ship (did not say if pirate or imperial one) was already in the prices catalogues and should be available for 2009 christmas or 2010 first months. I don't really know if this is true or just a rumour but I thought it could interest you all or, at least, give you some hopes... Quote

I really love the colour: blue~white. And the captain looks amazing, too. Please LEGO give us this ship! From the Pirate website, I think? Well, hopefully - but the color scheme is impossible. That's the bluecoat color scheme, and these new soldiers have a red and white color scheme like the old redcoats. It's the same captain from Soldier's fort except with a different expression and tan epaulettes instead of red. Once again, based on the color scheme, and the use of different style masts than the newer ones (and the fact that this image probably has no affect on the outcome of the Pirate sets), I highly doubt that they will. Joey Lock Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Well it is from the new Lego Battles game. And if we think back, the new indy sets were from the new game, The race in venice, air attack e.t.c. The Carribbean Clipper did not have the long stick on the Bowspirit, so mabye a new ship. So how do you know it may not be a new ship, eh? Quote
Matn Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 The picture isn't from LEGO Battles. It's from LEGO Universe. Quote
