Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to Publish New LEGO Game for Nintendo DSTM

London – Feb 4. 2009 - Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games are teaming up with The LEGO Group to deliver LEGO® Battles for Nintendo DS™, a videogame based on classic play scenarios in evergreen themes that include LEGO Castle, LEGO Pirates and LEGO Space. Produced by TT Games, developed by Hellbent Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, LEGO® Battles pulls three LEGO themes together to create a unique extension of the LEGO build-and-play experience that stays true to the customization and humor that are the foundation of LEGO videogames. The game is scheduled to be available in the United Kingdom this summer.

LEGO® Battles offers a new kind of “build and battle” LEGO gameplay. Through six distinct story lines, players build their own LEGO bases and battle teams as they engage in over 70 different levels, mixing and matching units to create the ultimate customized LEGO squad. These unique LEGO battles teams see pirate swordsmen fighting side-by-side with wizards and aliens; dragons battling ninjas; and pirate ships launching broadsides against spacecraft and knights! Players can also challenge friends on the battlefield in multiplayer mode through wireless DS multi-card play.

Hmm it sounds interesting... I'll have to see it in action first though. If it uses the same engine as LSW: The Complete Saga for DS, I'll be happy. I love that game muchly so!

Only for the DS?

Since almost all the games for the DS are kiddie games, I think this will probably be kind of a kiddie game too, so I don't really care. I don't even have a DS.

Naturally, this is a must-have.

However, the two promo images shown on Joystiq clearly show very high-resolution graphics, like those seen on PS3/360/PC. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see this game also coming out for those systems, like the previous LEGO games have.

I doubt it, i think it'll be like Age of Empires or Dawn of War.

This rules. Finally, a game from TT that isn't licensed and isn't based off of the same engine all the others are! Also, this very well could be the first lego RTS since Rock Raiders, and it has the potential to be far better than the latter.

Lego Battles is a game for the Nintendo DS that combines three popular Lego toy lines - Lego Castle, Lego Pirates and Lego Space - allowing players to create bases and customized squads in order to engage in more than 70 different levels worth of fierce block combat, or head-to-head via Nintendo DS wireless multi-card play. Players will mix and match units from all three Lego sets, resulting in epic confrontations the likes of which we've only dreamed about. So the next Lego title from TT games isn't Lego Transformers. It's time to see if the Lego brand can stand on its own two blocking legs. Look for Lego Battles to erupt on the Nintendo DS this summer.

It almost sounds like an RTS or RTS/Action hybrid. Either way that is something I can support.

I think this is an intresting move by lego to make an RTS style game It might just be somthing like the mars mission game on lego.com though.

Has anyone heard of the new DS game Lego Battles? It has the best three lines in lego history Space, Castle, and of course THE NEW PIRATES!! To read more about is just search Lego Battles DS on google. Im sorry I cant post screenshots. Game comes out (acording to gamesradar.com) on august 28 2009.
