thank you very much for this helpful hint! is the u-joint disassembling riskless?

Good hint for the CV-joints - i will check if they could be applied....

It's pretty fiddly and sometimes feels like you need three hands (all with tweezers for fingers), but the fiddliness also makes it difficult to apply enough force to break anything.

I considered using CV joints on mine, but they have a lower range of angular motion than the universal joints. You'd have to do some modifications, moving the mounting points further apart to get them to fit. The back one might be possible, since there's a bit of space to play with at either end and any movement will reduce the shaft angle. I don't think you can replace the front one since, unless you use more than two joints, you can never get the angle below 45°.

I've uploaded the complete pneumatic schematic with hose lengths. Bear in mind the lengths are approximate and are based on the specific cable routing I used. The total length is about 5.5m, so if you buy 6m or more of hose you should be fine.

I didn't do a detailed study of wire lengths since I was limited to what I had available. It will definitely work with 2x 20L wires and 5x 36L, but you'll have to coil some of them.

I think the absolute minimum wire lengths you could get away with is 5x 20L+, 2x 26L+.

Today I finally got my hands on a 5571 set (and a 5542), according to Rebrickable I have about 60% of the parts needed to build Grazi's Tow Truck. So Bricklink here I come!!! :)

I paid around 200 bucks for mine.

(No box or instructions) maybe not the best price but it doesn't matter right now cause this one I only got to build Grazi's stunning tow truck!

Yes 2 had been good! :D

But i have alot of parts laying around already, this weekend i have sorted them and put them on rebrickable so now I'm up on about 85% of the requiered parts to build it.

The last 2 months I have spent over 4000 dollars on Lego so buying those expensive wheels doesn't feel so hard! :D

Let's just say I'm out of my "dark age" ;) :D

Most of the remaining parts are bricks and design elements....

Ah, i forgot to mention my 10 cylinder brackets... You can make me an offering if you Need some... ;-)

This set has to be the most detailed truck TLG ever made. Wish LEGO would go back to sets this good (I am sure a highly detailed big-rig truck as a "Creator Expert" set would sell like hotcakes)

Indeed jonwill!

I have tried "the new technic" trucks now but they can't compete with this!

Not even close! I would defenetivly buy big high detailed sets!

Just bought a few weeks ago an incomplete 5571 (missing the hood, fuel tanks and exhaust), but the tires are all there.....for $35.... I chanced upon this since the 2nd set of 5571 I won in the bidding was missing a tire.... so now I have 5 sets of extra wheels which I can use for future mods...BTW, I also built the model B, i'll post pics later

The white one is awesome!

First I couldn't figure out where the doors were from then I got it, (The Racing truck) :)

Now I got more than 90% of the parts to build Grazi's Tow Truck so in the holidays the build will begin!

I promise to take a lot of photos! ;)
