Lundgren Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 (edited) It hasn't been easy or cheap (started from zero about 1 month ago) But here is 97% of Grazi's Tow Truck just 6 wheels, 2 motors and som pneu left! ;) As you can se i went with the old style motors so it will be Grazi's design right through! Whoops sorry about the CRAPPY PHOTO :( my iPhone didn't do better... Edited December 22, 2013 by Lundgren Quote
Lundgren Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Today I've started the build, have taken some photos and will try to upload them some day as the build progress. I must say this is really an amazing MOC! Quote
Lundgren Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Threads gets funnier with pics so here is 2 Quote
Lundgren Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 It's coming along nicely but dang this thing's gonna be HUGE! :D Quote
peter_m Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 You should create a separate thread ;) Quote
Lundgren Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Yes, I should have done it from the beginning. I will do it tomorrow and maybe some nice mod can help me lift out all my post to that thread then! ;) Quote
Kumbbl Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) It is a little tricky but I have never damaged a joint by disassembling it. any hints how and with which tools you have disassembled the U-Joint? Thanks in advance! BTW: sorry for bumping on this old thread but IMO it is not worth opening a new thread... Edited March 4, 2015 by Kumbbl Quote
Blakbird Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 It has been many years since I built this so I don't remember, but I know the u-joints were difficult. I think I pried them open with a needle nose pliers. Quote
Dafgek81 Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 The rims are the same size as the normal truck wheels used on most Technic sets? Or are they bigger as Well? If it are the same rims, I could look for bigger tyres. Quote

Kumbbl Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 The rims+tires are the most expensive parts of grazis tow truck: they are ultra rare and if you try to bricklink them it will cost you at least 250€ (12)! Minimum! Probably even more... This and the Need of many also expensive system parts is the reason that the best (and IMHO more or less only) way to build this tow truck is to buy 2(!) 5571 Black cat model Team truck sets. Used ones are available for about 150€ at least here in Germany. For cheapier ones you have to be very patient and lucky ;-) Then you have a good starting Point... Then you need just a 8455 for the pneumatics, a 8448 (e.g.) for other System and studded technic parts and for about 150€ other bricklink parts... ;-) Ah, and do Not forget the 4 cylinder brackets of 8275 rsp. 8421 which are known to be very "cheap"... ;-)) All in all are very expensive MOC.. Kumbbl Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) It has been many years since I built this so I don't remember, but I know the u-joints were difficult. I think I pried them open with a needle nose pliers. done - with a pocket knife and its bottle opener i could quite easily and carefully spread the joint so one half with the universal link could be removed... reassembling again takes just a few seconds... well, now i'm prepared to build this MOC - just waiting for some small part shippments from bricklink and the show can go on... ;) Edited March 5, 2015 by Kumbbl Quote
DubuqueDragon Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Greetings all. I am trying to find the instructions for the tow truck. but the links don't seem to work. can anyone email the pdf to me or send me working link? jason_moore0 @ yahoo.com Quote
Kumbbl Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 AFAIK the instructions are only available at mocplans.com... There they cost 1$... Therefore i can not send you the BI... Quote
Andrea Grazi Posted February 1, 2022 Posted February 1, 2022 I apologize to all of you guys! You will not believe, but only today I read all your posts! ...what a shit figure! Thanks at @Blakbird for answering everyone! ... that's what I should have done! @Lundgren , @Kumbbl ...do you have finished building my TOWTRUCK? Quote
bonox Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 (edited) Probably a good time to say Thankyou Andrea for a beautiful model. I'm sure there are many more out there than you think, including one being built by this nutter (me) at a LUG show :) Didn't quite get it finished in one go. Edited February 2, 2022 by bonox Quote
Andrea Grazi Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 Hi @bonox ! Australia!! WOW!! What a satisfaction ... you cannot imagine! After so many years I would like to rebuild it too! ...the white version though! Congratulations and thanks! Andrea P.S. without @Blakbird's instructions we would still not be here to talk about it! Thanks Quote
bonox Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 I don't have your tow truck in white, but I do have the original 5571 in white and think it looks great. Just need a door sticker :D Quote
