Blakbird Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Trick question. There is no such thing as too many. Quote
CP5670 Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Have you measured the full length of those? I like how treads have become a lot more common in the last three or four years. Before that, I remember the tread links (the smaller, black kind) could only be found be in a few sets and obscure service packs from the 1980s, and commanded sky high prices on Bricklink. Quote
Brickthing Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Answer: Once you get bored putting the treads together, you know you have too many. Quote
Legoman Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Answer: Once you get bored putting the treads together, you know you have too many. So 2 is too many? I would say there're never enough! (AKA it depends on what your doing with them) Quote
Brickthus Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 So 2 is too many? I would say there're never enough! (AKA it depends on what your doing with them) I agree that you can never have too many: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=237939 Plenty of scope for expansion. As well as the circuit and 360-roll, I have a loop-the-loop in prototype. On YouTube too: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=mbellisbrickmocs I've done a railway tunnel mouth and various hoops too. Skelotic Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Never enough due to the fact that I have none of that type. Better Question: How long will it take for Blakbird to reach 100 posts. Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 (AKA it depends on what your doing with them) I'm sad. I only have 2 1/2 sets worth of the tiny, brown Hailfire droid ones. V__V Quote

Front Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 How does it feel not having any of the new black threads ? I got quite some threads, but not close to your amount Blakbird. Let's see in a year or two. Front Quote

I have a couple of thousand treads now and I think my fingers hurt too much to get many more. Yes! That means my guess is coming close to being right! That funny thing about this is that I've only got two of those pre-made rubber tread loops that came with an Artic snowmobile... Quote
optimus-convoy Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Oh wow, and I don't even have any of those. At that rate, you could go for a world record: "Longest chain of Technic Tread links" I'm sure it's undiscovered territory. Quote
Ras_Al_Ghul Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 holy sh*t i wish i had that many treads!! you wouldn't be interested in donating them to a worthy cause, would you? Quote

Dark Wanderer Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 No number of Technic tread links is too many. I've got 176 of the new thick kind, and 86 of the older kind, along with uncounted numbers of chain links. Quote

Natman8000 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I really like these treads but they are so hard to acquire for me. How did you get so many? Quote
Blakbird Posted March 16, 2009 Author Posted March 16, 2009 I really like these treads but they are so hard to acquire for me. How did you get so many? I have several thousand. Many came with original sets, but the bulk of them were acquired individually on Bricklink, some from as far away as Australia. Quote

The average is now about 13 cents per link. Quote
CP5670 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 (edited) You can get the new kind relatively cheaply in a Lego Education service pack. The only problem there is that they come in both dark blay and black in the same package, so it becomes harder to use them all on one vehicle. It would have been better if they offered two separate packs of them in different colors. Edited March 16, 2009 by CP5670 Quote
