SWMAN Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 All in all that is a pretty lame list. The only reason I can think that another ARC Fighter and Droid Tri-Fighter would be released is that they would be Clone Wars style. The BP's would of course be great, but I was really hoping for some Endor BP's. Maybe when the 30th Anniversary of ROTJ comes around... Quote
Tinn-man Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Ohhh yes. I can't wait for the tie defender. I LOVE that one. Plus Luke's landspeeder will be good. The original one was the first Star Wars set that I ever got, so I can't wait to see it re-made. And I assume it will come with Tatooine Luke, which would be the first set under 400 dollars that he's included in. The ARC-170 shouldn't be too bad, either. I already have the first one, and I like it, so it can only get better, right? Actually, I'm pretty excited about all of these sets. The wait for pictures has officially begun! Quote
Tohst Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Actually, that list looks reasonable to me. We've been getting bigger releases in summer so a smaller sized one for Jan seems right. We got remakes of the EPII gunship and AT-TE for clone wars season 1. So, an EPIII ARC fighter remakes seems reasonable for me in time for season 2. Probably be 50% bigger and twice as expensive ast he original set. I liked the original, so I'm interested to see how they'll thrill me for a remake. Battlepacks are probably right but a little dissapointing given we just got the Hoth Base set. And round out with a couple OT sets. I'm always happy to see another TIE and as a smaller set, landspeeder works. -shrug- If this is true, I'd expect another larger summer release with Cad Bane and new clones. -Tohst Quote
Derek Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Hmmm. That news on JediNews is bittersweet. As cool (and realistic) as all of those new sets sound, that just sucks that Indy will be discontinued. Here are my price guesses- Battlepacks $10-11 as usual Tri-fighter- $20 Tie-Defender- $20-30 Arc-170 - $40-60 And as Luke's Landspeeder is on the end of the list, it leads one to think it is a larger set. Maybe UCS? Or possibly a Tatooine Playset? That would be cool, but I'm hoping we get a small sized set with the Landspeeder, because I never had a chance to get it, and hopefully it comes with Tusken Raiders, because I missed out on those too... DarthSion Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 maybe Lukes Land speeder will be a new version of Luke to tie in with the forth coming Tatooine mission for TFU. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 maybe Lukes Land speeder will be a new version of Luke to tie in with the forth coming Tatooine mission for TFU. I can't imagine that, DarthSion, and I must even say that I really hope that it won't be TFU. I'd love to get a Landspeeder, hopefully 3PO is included this time. I can't imagine that TLG will include C-3PO in this set, Penitent Tangent, since it surely won't be more than 40 Euros. And TLG needs to include something new in this set - meaning Tusken Raiders - otherwise it won't sell well. Because of that I bet and hope that if the rumors on the Luke's Land Speeder are right it'll include: -Luke's Landspeeder -Luke Tatooine style (like in the 10188 DS) -Obi-Wan Kenobi with brown cap and suit (like in the 10188 DS) -two Tusken Raiders with new head mold -rock piece(s) -Bantha Klaus-Dieter Quote
Paulego Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 In response to the observations on the blurred Battle Pack images even though i'd like another Tauntaun or a Wampa it is clear that it is a speeder bike, you can see the prongs at the front ending with white triangle plates. Makes sense in a Snowtrooper BP to have a speeder. Quote
The Who Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 (edited) After a very long time of waiting it seems as if rumors about next year's SW sets came up on Jedinews: Hoth Rebel Troopers Battle Pack Snowtroopers Battle Pack Droid Tri-Fighter TIE Defender ARC-170 Starfighter Luke's Landspeeder That sounds like a bunch of crap, aside from the Battle Packs. I especially hate that they are back at Episode III sets again, because I absolutly dreaded the first line, and now there are remakes. I can't imagine that, DarthSion, and I must even say that I really hope that it won't be TFU.That would make what, like 12 or 13 different Lukes now?Because of that I bet and hope that if the rumors on the Luke's Land Speeder are right it'll include:-Luke's Landspeeder -Luke Tatooine style (like in the 10188 DS) -Obi-Wan Kenobi with brown cap and suit (like in the 10188 DS) -two Tusken Raiders with new head mold -rock piece(s) -Bantha The Bantha and the Tusken Raiders would be the only things to look forward to in this line of sets. Oky Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Those clearler pictures just make it look even more like the sets are from Clone Wars. The only thing making it look like OT is the orange jumpsuit, but as was posted a few pages back, one of the new bounty hunters wears something very similar. So are you saying that you expect the left BP to be a Bounty Hunter BP? I find that unlikely, not only because of the new rumor of the BPs being OT, but also because most known bounty hunters are main characters, and making a BP with main characters doesn't make any sense. Battlepacks are probably right but a little dissapointing given we just got the Hoth Base set. Disappointing, yes, as in not being Endor. But it's the anniversary of ESB after all, and besides, the two BPs together will have a much better value than that overpriced Echo Base. We will get twice the amount of troops, minus Han and the Tauntaun, for 4/5 of the price of the Echo Base. Quote
Paulego Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 What makes them more evident is that in the right one you can see a snowtrooper in the middle holding a blaster, unless it is a snow clone from Orto Plutonia in the episdoe trepass but that would not leand itself to a BP because that would mean Tallz warriors etc. Quote
JimBee Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 I hope that list on Jedinews is accurate. As far as my experience with that site goes, it is fairly reliable. Excellent! I have a feeling these are true. Or at least I hope so. I missed out on most of the Ep.III sets, so the Tri-Fighter and ARC 170 are great news to me! I had the ARC once, but all of the pieces are mixed up or long gone, so I wouldn't mind seeing another, more stable version at all. Although I wonder why it would be remade at this time, unless it's in a future CW episode. Same with the Tri-Fighter. I doubt that we'll see a TIE Defender since it is from the EU. Very supposably the informants mixed up something - a regular TIE Fighter is imo well possible since it appears in all episodes from the OT. Why not? It was rumored that the TIE Defender was supposed to be released in 2008, so maybe set designers are getting around to it now. I'm even not sure about Luke's Landspeeder since it is from episode 4. And only the landspeeder (with Luke and Obi-Wan) alone is really not very interesting. It has to come with two Tusken Raiders and a Bantha - but I highly doubt that it would. While I would like to have a new one (I never had the chance to get the older versions), I have to agree that it makes little sense to have another one next year, since TESB sets are supposedly the main focus of OT because of the anniversary. Disappointing, yes, as in not being Endor. But it's the anniversary of ESB after all, and besides, the two BPs together will have a much better value than that overpriced Echo Base. We will get twice the amount of troops, minus Han and the Tauntaun, for 4/5 of the price of the Echo Base. default_thumbup.gif So you're not willing to spend 5 extra bucks on a Taun-Taun!? Shame on you! On another note, with all of these SW names among the staff (Darth Hinckley, Commander KimT, ImperialSvelte), I have a feeling that we're being made fun of. Quote
-JD- Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 4 months really isn't that much if you think about it. We usually know about sets between 4 and 6 months before their release. My birthday is in four months. And to me that is a hell of a long way away. After a very long time of waiting it seems as if rumors about next year's SW sets came up on Jedinews: >SNIP< Source Well, JediNews were right about several things last time. Is it me, or is there always a new TIE on every rumour list, and it never happens? A new design for the ARC would be great! Hopefully this time with more detail and different pilots. That and the Tri-Droid/Fighter are the only ones I might get. And I think it would most likely be the Tri-Droid, considering it appears in lots of CW episodes. But hey, I may be wrong. Greetings, JD Quote
Tinn-man Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 On another note, with all of these SW names among the staff (Darth Hinckley, Commander KimT, ImperialSvelte), I have a feeling that we're being made fun of. Or September is going to be Star Wars month . I hope we do get more tuskens. Then I finally be able to have a tusken army of my own, seeing as they're growing in popularity here. Quote
Commander Flash Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 I would not complain about more Tuskens ARC-170 is a good set, seeing how i have a tiny navy (1 Z-95, 1 Jedi Fighter, 1 RGS ) Quote
-JD- Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 (edited) I think DarthSion has a good point about the Land Speeder, but if LEGO do this it will not sell as well as a TIE Fighter with Ram Kota and Starkiller. But it depends what features and minifigures it contains. Imagine a new Tusken! Edited August 4, 2009 by Jammiedodger714 Quote
Legoman Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 That list, imo, sucks. The BP's are OK, but i have about enough snowies already. I want more tauntauns, but thats just not going to happpen in a bp... I might buy some seperately, then get bp's. I could do with a few more rebels... Droid tri-fighter. Well, knowing jedi news, they're alway's rightISH EG, tie bomber turned to hyena droid bomber. So this may well be a CW tri troid... I really see no need for a new tri fighter. And the good thing with the tri droid is i won't get it . I'm guessing whatyever this is, it'll be clone wars TIE Defender. Man I really hope this is a mix up, and that it's a standard tie in new grey . ARC-170 Starfighter. Huh? i really can't imagine a new one of these... not yet. probably clone wars though. Luke's Landspeeder. kinda a 'meh' sounding set. I hope for a bantha now that you guys put the idea in my head. The only thing is, i hope thy don't change the tuskens much from the original, but they probably will... All and all, doesn't sound very nice. Quote
darkrebellion Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Thanks Klaus-Dieter for the news . Overall the list sounds like a pretty weird selection from the TLC. The BP sound about right to me but everything elese sounds like random stuff to me. Like legoman mentioned usually Jedi News is a reliable source but commonly mix the name of the sets when they publish them like what happened with the Hyena Droid Bomber last year. In my opinion a new TRI-DROID not Tri-Droid Fighter could make an awesome set. Just imagine how tall the TLC can make it and how different it will look from the common sets we normally receive . A new ARC-170 sounds good but seems a bit like a weird choice and why the TLC release such a vesse when next year is ESB anniversary and they could release a highly wanted Rebel Transport . The TIE Defender will preobably end just like the Tri-Droid Fighter and be a new TIE Fighter which could be great if done well. The Landspeeder sounds like the weirdest of the list. Why release a Landspeeder when they can release a new Twin Pod Cloud Car in conmemoration of the ESB anniversary??? Quote
Paulego Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Yeah thats a good point the tri-droid probably means the giant Octuptarra Droid. Quote
WookieeWarrior Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Well, I have no reason to doubt the list since Jedi News has been right on the money a lot lately. I'm sad to see that the Indy line looks to be ending though. It had a great run. I'm hoping the Luke speeder set will include Ben's hut. I'm glad this wave seems to be a little smaller, since I have a lot of catching up to do. Quote
Glacarcheo Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 (edited) I might have already said this, but I think that both sides in the CWs seem to have small navies, so the Droid Tri-Fighter, and ARC would be great! Off Topic: Has anyone notice that Ahsoka's Starfighter has the basic Republic colorscheme? If I buy it, I'll kill sell Ahsoka and pop in a Clone Pilot! Edited August 5, 2009 by Glacarcheo Quote
The Nightwing Reborn Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 After seeing the clearer pics of the BPs, I think the head of the Wampa/ Taun Taun is just a stormtrooper a bit farther back than the speeder. I can clearly make out a blaster and what I believe to be the helmet's eye holes. Though I do hope I'm wrong on that. On the new list: I would love a new landspeeder because I missed out on the first two. It's also one of my favorite OT vehicles. A tri-droid or tri-fighter is okay by me, but it all depends on how it looks. The TIE Defender is my second favorite TIE so I'm open to it and another lovely imperial pilot . An ARC-170 will only interest me with CW closed-helmet Phase II pilots. More like the old figure and not the actual pilots because I actually prefer lego's version. Though, I hope there is at least one more ESB set. It has so many great vehicles and scenes. I will welcome any Cloud City sets. Quote
Tinn-man Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I don't see why so many people want a regular tie fighter over a tie defender. You'd rather have the another remake of a tie fighter than a completely new vehicle? Or even a force unleashed version of a landspeeder, when you could get a regular one with at least Old Ben and Tatooine Luke, both of which are more expensive on bricklink than the set will probably cost, plus the possibility of two tuskens? That sounds kinda crazy to me. But maybe I'm crazy... ( ). Quote
DarthSion Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I think DarthSion has a good point about the Land Speeder, but if LEGO do this it will not sell as well as a TIE Fighter with Ram Kota and Starkiller. But it depends what features and minifigures it contains. Imagine a new Tusken! Huh, The new Tatooine mission for TFU and TFU:USE is set as a what if, as in what if Starkiller did kill Vader, so as its based on the bad/sith ending, Kota, Bail, Juno Proxy, Garn and Monmotha are all dead. So if the new Landspeeder was built around the coming TFU Tatooine mission, it would likely be the new Starkiller, Luke, and maybe Jabba, Obi, rebels, Tolz or Boba. Quote
CloneCommanderDelta7 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 (edited) If that is a Wampa then why is he in a battle pack and why is he sided with the Empire The Empire has many ways of obtaining friends, forcefully or sarcastic friendliness. Looking back at the picture, it looks as the Empire side has a speeder bike, 3 darkish coloured troopers and some unknown blob of colour presumably a trench or something else. I can also make out an animal head, could be tauntaun or wampa. The second one (presumably Rebel) looks to have an enclosed cockpit (look to the above right of the orange figure. It looks like an enclosed speeder. There are three troopers behind the speeder and one orange one that you can't miss. To me the Empire one looks awesome. We'll find out more for sure at the end of the year when the Lego Club comes with the catalogs. Between now and then we'll get some fakes and possibly (probably) more news. All we can do is wait and search. P.S. An ARC-170 would be welcomed by me. Edited August 5, 2009 by CloneCommanderDelta7 Quote
