JimBee Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 if something is generic enough it can be reused. i have already demonstrated that. droid's heads (R2 design) have been reused countless times in other themes. while battle droid's heads have not been reused because the design is more unique. What I meant is this: Lego can't use special licensed parts, made specifically for that theme, like a lightsaber. They may use the lightsaber hilt piece in other sets, and they may use the blade piece in other sets, but they can not use the lightsaber combo, and use it in another theme, such as Space Police, intending to use the combo as a lightsaber. I think that they can use the combo in other themes as long as their intention for it isn't using it as a lightsaber, but they can use the combo for other things, such as a MINI Racer's boosters, for example. Of course, I'm not a Lego employee or ambassador, but this is what I think is the case, considering TLG's letters and e-mails mentioned before. 2009 SW promo 8033 General Grievous Starfighter Thanks, whung! Now we know why we haven't seen it in U.S Target stores yet. Awesome find. Thanks whung I'll add this to the first page within long. So... will you still want me to get some for you (if I can get them at Target), or will you just build some yourself? thanks whung! that must be the jul-aug brickmaster special then. That's what I'm thinking too... we've never had MINIs in retail stores before, and it is pretty believable that the July- August issue will have a MINI set, just like the last two that had a SW exclusive. Plus, only the MINI GG fighter's instructions were found- remember that the MINI V-19 was also rumored to be a Target exclusive? And the MINI V-19 was a promo already, for something else, so I think you're right. Quote

TLC is not like brickarms. if TLC starts charging $1-3 per piece, fans will freak out the world over. TLC's return per piece is closer to $0.50 or lower. so the mold has to generate enough set sales to justify the cost. since this is the 09 picture/rumor thread, to avoid going even more off-topic with the new mold discussion if you like to discuss this further, feel free to pm me. KimT Posted January 2, 2009 Author Posted January 2, 2009 It's time to let go of the licensed parts discussion. It doesn't belong here, so please stop now. This topic is about the 2009 wave of LEGO Star Wars. Quote
posades Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Nice find on the mini; might try to build it later, not too many rare pieces except for the sloping vent piece in dark bley. Quote

Darth Legolas Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 you are entitled to your opinion and he is entitled to his. there is no need to be pushy. if something is generic enough it can be reused. i have already demonstrated that. droid's heads (R2 design) have been reused countless times in other themes. while battle droid's heads have not been reused because the design is more unique. squidward's head is generic enough to be reused, eg bannister detailing, building facade, etc. the lack of a head stud, however, severely limit it's usefulness. but as i have shown, anakin's hair is just hair. so for nute's head - yes they can make one not because he is the only neimoidian (whatever that is... i don't know my sw trivia) but only when he is high in demand (like plo koon, kit fisto were made based on fan feedback) or if the designers see another use for the mold. as for me, i am always for more alien heads. That makes more of a point... as for the Endor set, it would really stink without Endor rebels, which are also in hgih demand, maybe even higher than Aayla Secura! (And trust me, if you look in the most wanted unreleased Jedi topic, you'll see 100 votes for her.) Quote

Legoman Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 thanks whung! that must be the jul-aug brickmaster special then. Um..... No it's not It's a PROMO Not a BM exclusive. Also, it's availible at target for $3.50... along with the V-19 mini ('only in store') Quote
Darth Legolas Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Mkay for the last time:2 x Endor Rebels in the Endor set. Oh.. hehe.. I missed that... I wonder why... I am getting so confused now! And by the way, the slope vent is definitely not rare! I have 20 of those! Great looking set, though not very important to me, considering I already have the full size version myself. Quote

KimT Posted January 3, 2009 Author Posted January 3, 2009 Erhmm... Promotionals aren't sold - they're promotionals. Exclusives are sold - they're sold in certain stores. I doubt this General Grievous Starfighter is a promotional, it might be a target exclusive. But we really don't know yet. So let's quit the speculation on availability and keep to discussing the set itself. Quote
Legoman Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 What? Can you get one for me? (The Grievous one.) I would if i could, but i don't live in america (where it is availible for $3.50 - at target) I'll try and find it on the website... I'll edit this post if i do... Quote
Oky Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 (edited) In the preview for the episode "Gungan General" of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, we get a glimpse at the "Pirate Tank" that was rumored to become a set! You can watch the preview here. (Might only work for the US!) If the rumor is true, I'll be looking forward to this set! These tanks look pretty cool! Edited January 3, 2009 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
AJH Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 So the venator is rumored to have 5 minifigs which are palpatine, 2 senate commandos and 2 clone troopers. that doesn't seem enough to me there is a clone wars episode coming up that includes palpatine, his guards andd Luminara Unduli aswell so maybe TLC might put Luminara in there. According to the preliminary pictures people have seen, we're getting just 5 minifigs. But preliminary designs are more than liable to change before final product is released. there is a clone wars episode coming up that includes palpatine, his guards andd Luminara Unduli aswell so maybe TLC might put Luminara in there. That would be great. But we'll just have to wait and see Quote

Legoman Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Just Well paying money would instantly mean its not promo wouldnt it... And didn't steve witt say minis are no longer standard sets? so it must be some kind of strange target exclusive.... Quote
Darth Legolas Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I was about to say what Oky-Wan said. The "tank" we saw in this edpisode, Dooku Captured... wasn't really a tank... at all. Since when does a tank fly in space? I think the tank will be the one Jar-Jar crashes in the next episode, the Gungan General. By the way, that Weequay pirate guy with the goggles is awesome! I hope he's in the pirate tank, and maybe it'd have Dooku in it, and, possibly, Jar Jar! Quote
