Navy Trooper Fenson Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Wether blue is cheaper than grey, or they just don´t want to. But it is a strange phenomenon that LEGO puts often blue pins in such bad places where they look too odd. Quote
Palin Jax Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 How do they work, then? Why would they use blue pins rather than more suitable black or grey pins? Sometimes I think that the only reason that they do use blue pins is for the build itself. They may be easier to spot in the building instructions for some people, noticeably for younger, less experienced children, than the black or grey pins. I wish they would use those pin colors too for accuracy, but I think it only a minor distraction. And for anyone who does know of any four year olds who could design sets like the ones we have gotten in the last few waves, well, then I quit. At almost 32, I can not come close to the coolness factor of any of these sets... For those of you out there that have been in this thing since 99, look at the elegant, yet blocky builds of any of those earlier renditions. For example, the Naboo Starfighter. The 07' version is insanely accurate, even passing the UCS version of 02'. I have been working on a hybrid combination of all 3... And I still find my MOC wanting. Not saying the 99 doesn't have its charm. For it's day, what a leap forward it was. Quote
JimBee Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 There's a video of the complete 2009 Lego SW collection here. Quote
Skipper 24 Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Thanks for the link. Nothing really new there though. Did Starwars.com make a video like that last year? Quote
iH Master 13uilder17 Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 (edited) Nope, and you're not the first person to ask. No one knows, and I don't care all too much considering the tank is meant to pilot itself! But since on the box picture in the back it showed nothing, then I don't think it does. BUT: On the back of the box, thanks for prompting me to look, we can see that just like on the AAT the guns are also flickfire missiles, and the set includes a fling launching pad to send the two Jet Troopers into the air! (With the good backpacks, and don't you forget it!) not like the old one from wookiee attack? im going to moc it just like the one from wookiee attack because it looks too small. lego has failed to impress me. the new videos put up (thanks for whovever was it) has now lowered my hype for these new sets. all of the sets look too small. i might get the AT-OT, but it has a sort of major flaw. the cockpit folds back onto the 6 front seats. this being that you can only carry 6 people in the back rather than 12. The endor bunker looks decent with the doors and blasting walls? but it includes a lot of new figs. The Y wing doesn't look that great and I have too many anakins and ahsokas already. The venator is terrible because it's just little rooms combined that u can take out. not worth it. plus 5 figs? Gunray's ship looks the best cheap set i have seen in a while minus the battle packs. definetly getting that, the revolving doors impress me as well. gunray looks really good as well. plus pilot droids for us that didn't get the MTT. CommanderCody77 Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Is the Republic Emblem a sticker or pieces? I can't see it that clearly because today my laptop is not working that good Quote
ILikePi Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 (edited) If you're talking about the big ones on the sides of the top of the Venator, they're stickers. Edited February 28, 2009 by ILikePi Quote

KimT Posted February 28, 2009 Author Posted February 28, 2009 It was me! It has been posted several times by now. I think we first saw this video 2 weeks ago or something like that. This was posted too: Count Blockula's video coverage of Toy Fair This is going in circles. Quote
Skipper 24 Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 (edited) I don't think this has been mentioned but the new Y-wing has the colours inverted. Where there is white there should be yellow and where yellow there should be white. At least it's like that according to this pic from Wookieepedia. EDIT: I watched the episode again at part and it turns out some had that pattern. Edited February 28, 2009 by Skipper 24 Quote
ILikePi Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 (edited) IMO I think that more yellow looks better. I'm still not going to get it, though. Edited February 28, 2009 by ILikePi Quote
Darth Legolas Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 The Y-wing released is Anakin's. His was special, and designed the opposite of the rest. Quote
legopiotre Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Perfect image here: good catch ! I had never seen these differencies but with your picture, it becomes clear. Thank you for sharing your starwars knowledge with us ! Quote

ADHO15 Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 This just shows TLC has attention to detail :) Yet it uses a light, clear bubble instead of a dark one when you can clearly see it's the same as the cockpit in that picture. Quote
Darth Legolas Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Yet it uses a light, clear bubble instead of a dark one when you can clearly see it's the same as the cockpit in that picture. I don't know why, but I have a whole bunch of dark bubbles so it's no problem for me, easily fixable, but i have no clue why they changed it in the first place. That's why I started the confusing topic. Quote
ILikePi Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 I bet that most of the Clone Wars cartoon vehicle designs are created so that they can easily be made with LEGO bricks. Quote
Natman8000 Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 I bet that most of the Clone Wars cartoon vehicle designs are created so that they can easily be made with LEGO bricks. Well, I wouldnt go that far. I dont think they would solely make these ships just for simple Lego-ish quality. Quote
ILikePi Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 (edited) Oh yeah, I forgot about the other companies like Hasbro. Sorry about that. Edited March 1, 2009 by ILikePi Quote
Bricklanta Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Oh, yeah I forgot about the other companies like Hasbro. Sorry about that. Yeah, TLC has to design lego versions of Star Wars Vehicles probably not the other way around. Quote
