Hewman Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Will this be the first non UCS LEGO Star Wars set to not have any minifigures? What about the old technic sets of Jango, Darth etc or the mindstorms Star Wars sets. Quote
ILikePi Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 (edited) What about the old technic sets of Jango, Darth etc or the mindstorms Star Wars sets. Well, I meant the normal, non-Technic, non-UCS ones, if you know what I mean. (the "regular" sets) Edited April 21, 2009 by ILikePi Quote
Legoman Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Well, I meant the normal, non-Technic, non-UCS ones, if you know what I mean. (the "regular" sets) But this set isn't normal. It's midi scale, so not system. 4504 and 7190 were system. This aint. Quote

The Penguin Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 (edited) That Falcon looks great I've frontpaged this! Indeed, it is! ) What a beauty! I guess we may hope, gentlemen, that it's only the first set in a row of mid-scale starships! Imagine all those opportunities to make relatively-not-big starships! From CW to Civil War eras.... The kids will love to make space battles, and adults to see it on displays! ) I'd love to see some Confederate mid-scaqle starships! ) Good day, gentlemen! ) Edited April 21, 2009 by The Penguin Quote
Alldarker Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 We did see pictures before didn't we? Anyway, it's exactly what I had expected all along, when the piece count and the tag 'midiscale' first became known. To be honest, I am an OT collector, but I don't like this set at all, and I wouldn't even buy it if it was on sale. Quote
keetong Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Do you think its possible this is what they could be selling at S@H on the 3rd and 4th? Quote
Artizan Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Will this be the first non UCS LEGO Star Wars set to not have any minifigures? 7111 droid fighter was a system set as you can remember. Quote
Shadows Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 I want to like it, I really do, but I'm betting that whole cockpit is a pair of stickers. Stickers make me sad. I'm going to try to love it anyway, I just don't know... Quote
Ras 74 Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 I totally have to agree with you on this one IS! No matter of stickers or not. Why make this one and not wait some time and re-release a better version. -Ras- Quote
DarthSion Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Meh, if the cockpit is stickers then it will be lame, i mean its damn annoying putting them on as it is yet alone on something like a cockpit. What's the price. Quote
mechamike Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 (edited) Are the new tabletop figs in mid scale aswell? Will we see "mid fig" battle packs? Do I really like the new mid scale falcon? I follow Ras and IS example, Im not sure.. and Im not sure if I will grace my collection with one.. Its cute but is it cute enough?? Edited April 21, 2009 by a53021 Quote
KimT Posted April 21, 2009 Author Posted April 21, 2009 New pics of the falcon! Thanks to Clone Commander Assassin Pictures fixed Quote
pedro Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 The new midi Falcon looks lovely - they've captured the shape and detail perfectly! The new midi range will - hopefully - also give collectors a great chance to create large armies at a beautifully detailed scale. Imagine recreating Hoth at midi scale with the army of AT-ATs... Obviously I'm just speculating, but it makes sense for LEGO to develop things in this direction. After a good start like this I can't wait to see what the new range has to offer Indeed, it is! ) What a beauty! Bobskink Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 I doubt this will sell good. No minifigs... The micro sets were also the first ones I was on sale years ago. Quote
SWMAN Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 After seeing the new pictures, I like the new Falcon a lot more. Like they have said, it would be great for putting on your desk next to your computer. It is small enough where it doesn't take up a lot of room, but big enough that it has a lot of detail. This is a lot better than the old mini sets. Quote
PMJ Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 I do like this better than the mini-models, but other than the fact you could maybe build a larger army, it seems pretty useless in my opinion. Quote
PMJ Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 (edited) I found a much larger image of the CAD. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/avenged110/2009/1.2.jpg It looks like the clone trooper doesn't have a jetpack, he's only catapulted into the air. Why TLC, why! Edited April 28, 2009 by Hinckley Converted very large image to link Quote
CommanderCody77 Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 I think the box art you just found was a little bit Preliminary. Reasons: No printing on the circle plate so the clones probably both do have jet packs. Quote

Why TLC, why! Oh, how I love the set! ) It looks awesome! (Am I going in circles when telling, how much I love it? ) However, it doesn't look much like the one in ep.3, more like in CW. Still I definitely like this one much more.... pedro Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 It looks like the clone trooper doesn't have a jetpack, he's only catapulted into the air. Why TLC, why! Type in the set number in Brickshelf and have a root around... you'll see what's most likely the newest shots of the box... complete with Jetpack Clonetroopers! I've loved the design of this droid since seeing the concept work from episode 2. I wasn't quite taken with the version LEGO gave us in 7258 Wookiee Attack, so missed picking up that set. However, this new version of the CAT looks the business... I love it! The printed dishes on the sides are a thing of beauty. And what's even better - it comes with great minifigs too Quote
Joebot Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 The Falcon set is definitely "cute" ... but I'm not sure who the target audience is. No mini-figs, which knocks out a HUGE portion of the Star Wars-buying customers. Not a big, detailed model (which we already have) for the deep-pocketed AFOLs. It seems like they're trying to create a new niche here, and I don't know that there's room for it. Now, if they expand the "midiscale" concept to other ships, as others have speculated ... well, then maybe. The Falcon reminds me of the "collector's edition" Naboo fighter from a while back, with the chrome silver parts. I got it, and it's nice enough I suppose, but it's really an oddball set. It just doesn't fit with anything else in my collection. Quote

Why TLC, why! Geez, wait to dig up a month old discussion. This box from the Toyfair, along with all of the boxes, lacked minor details, such as new pieces that weren't available for the box shots. They were featured at all of the major Toyfair's with Jetpacks. Edited April 28, 2009 by Hinckley Please don't quote images unless necessary Quote
Algernon Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Man, that falcon looks pretty bad. I don't understand why we need ANOTHER one. Quote
liquidcross Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Man, that falcon looks pretty bad. I don't understand why we need ANOTHER one. Because some of us couldn't get it the first time, or found the massive one waaaayyy too expensive. Quote
