Rocky Raccoon Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 The Mon Cal set is a must buy for me. The Mon Cal heads are awesome and the A-wing is just sweet. Quote
ILikePi Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Hey! I was the one that found the difference Okay, I edited my post... Ummm, I already posted that just a few posts up the page Whoops, I didn't see that you posted the article. I'll remove it. Quote
YG-49 Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Look for the LEGO® all-new Midi-scale Millennium Falcon exclusively at Walmart starting August 1, and be sure to check out Walmart's LEGO shop But wasn't there a certain Fighter Tank or Combine Harvester that was a Walmart exlusive but ended up in other shop anyway? Hmm? Quote
KimT Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 Eventhough it's a Walmart exclusive, I am more than sure we'll see this in other shops as well. It'll be on s@h for sure, same goes for the 7754 Home One Mon Calamari Star Cruiser. That makes 3 sets I need extras of to keep MISB Home One Midi-scale MF and Endor Quote
I Scream Clone Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 This is a great example of why official pictures are worth the wait! This set is drool worthy, I am not too dissapointed at the price as the new molds etc aren't cheap to make but well worth it in my opinion. Home One On! Quote
CommanderCody77 Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Thanks legoman for the pics Are the two Mon Calamari heads the same? I think one looks lighter. Also I think we are going to see some pics of the Pirate Tank soon Quote
The Penguin Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 A very fine set, indeed! ) I may even get one, and mod it for my PT collection. But what amazes me more is the selection of minifigures! ) Especially the lovely Mon Mothma, , who may not look exactly like in the OT, but with certain modification, again, be great for PT. ) And who wouldny't love to make a vig with mon cals? Still, pardon if it has already been stated, is the red sphere a new design death star, or simply some old detail? ) Good day, gentlemen! ) Quote
pedro Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 (edited) Great pics legoman, thanks! This, like the Endor set, is a veritable minifig-fest! Admiral Ackbar... Such a great selection of new and unique characters almost warrant purchase on their own! But, I love the new A-wing - the details are that bit more refined than 6207 - which is still a great model - and it looks great with the dark green colouration. The Home One control room and hangar bay are pretty cool too, if not a wee bit basic in respect of the hangar bay. I can't tell if that's a new holographic Death Star part; however, in the face of such goodness my concern about that fades somewhat Such good sets this year, OT and PT! C'mere LEGO, give us a big hug... That makes 3 sets I need extras of to keep MISB That's... just... criminal... Are the two Mon Calamari heads the same? I think one looks lighter. It does look that way, but I think it's just subtle differences in the lighting. From pic to pic AA and the engineer's heads look to be lighter or darker than each other. I'd imagine it's just the same head for both. Edited April 24, 2009 by pedro Quote
SWMAN Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 After seeing the new, "official" pics from Lego, I am kind of disappointed with the set. First off, Lego could have included a few more figures. Maybe a couple pilots and an Endor trooper, or maybe even Nien Nunb. With how massive the ship is, it doesn't really feel like they did it justice. I think that they should have broken it up into multiple sets, with the Control/Conference room bigger but by itself and the hangar bay bigger but by itself. Quote

I think the Home One set is too small. i had really hope we would get a big conference room, which could be loaded with many minifigs. But the part I am most dispointed with is the hangar. It is rather small for a hangar. Only one A-wing can fit in this base whereas we should have enough place to put other rebel ships in. However, the minifigs are really great and well-made. I just hope we will see then in better sets in the future so I will not have to buy this disapointing (and far too expensive) set. Quote
Mace Windu Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Sorry if this has already been posted. I hope it is a chrome Darth Vader. Quote
Big Cam Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Oh man, the Home one set looks awesome, i wonder what the price point will be, seems like alot of pieces. Quote
Joebot Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Thanks for the new pictures! Just when I thought Lego had given up the original trilogy ... With the new Ackbar and Mon Mothma mini-figs, we can reconstruct that scene from the "Robot Chicken" Star Wars spoof on Comedy Central, where the two of them are ordering at a restaurant. Mon Mothma: I'll have ... the calamari. Ackbar: And I'll have an order of INSENSITIVE B-TCH!! Quote

Although a bigger Home One made from a couple of sets, similar to Jabba´s Palace, sounds very tempting indeed, each one of these hypothetical sets would probably lack in terms of comprehensive playability and attractiveness and together they would be quite costly too... That single set is, on the other hand, a perfect starting point to MOD and MOC a much larger diorama for sure. Quote

Here we get a load of new figs, with an acceptable amount of pieces, as a fans choice set. And you want even more minifigs AND a hangar big enough to fit a couple of more ships? Ok, TLG can do that - and it will cost you $500, are you buying ? I think it´s great, and off course there´s some stuff to modify, but that´s the whole idea behind the LEGO concept. Build your own 2x2 meter big hangar and put the UCS Falcon inside !CopMike Quote
KimT Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 I have to agree with CopMike on this one. When will you guys ever be satisfied? This is an awesome set and still you complain. Why not just be happy with what we're getting and then you can just MOD it into anything you want? C'mon people lighten up at bit. The sets we've been getting the past years are awesome compared to the earlier Star Wars sets. Quote
Darth Legolas Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Despite the fact I'm not getting this set, (saving up for AT-OT+Dropship) I don't understand why no one likes the Mon Cal Cruiser! Maybe it looks a little weird, but it's got great Minifigs, a new A-wing, and a good, playable base. If you want the whole freaking cruiser, go out and buy yourself eighty six million gray bricks and satisfy yourself. Would you rather have this, or a "Midi-scale" minifig-less blob that would be the Home One? Quote
slimninj4 Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Actually I would love a midi scale Home one. Fit right perfect as a model on my work shelf. I do like this set. Nice figs and parts that are interesting. I love how people complain so much. Reminds me of people complaining a few months ago about power miners. Anyway, I might pick this setup. I do want the figs but if I have to really pick I want the MF. Quote

Double the hangar space, enough LEGO to make a larger conference room and enough minifig parts to create more officers, pilots and engineers! If the set's too small and you would've been happy to pay a wee bit more for a bigger Home One, that might be a good solution? Quote
starstreak Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 I would rather have Lego come out with a bunch of midi-ships. All priced under $25. That would make it under $30 in Hawaii and come with about 250 pieces. I liked the mini-ships but some of them break too easy. At midi-scale, they could release capitol ships with some detail. I would buy those. :) Quote
DoctorDude234 Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 The Hoth set looks pretty basic Might be pretty good with the first base. And the Tank droid is just a recolor from 2005. But the rest of them look pretty good. Want Bunker Quote
Darth Legolas Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 The Hoth set looks pretty basicMight be pretty good with the first base. And the Tank droid is just a recolor from 2005. But the rest of them look pretty good. Want Bunker Well not really... in fact, that statement is around 100% wrong. No offense. But it's a completely different design. For one thing, the new one can't seat a droid, as is accurate to the time period in which the original was made, during the current CW series. And not to mention, this one has flick fires, a feature newer than 2005, and has eyes in a different place, built to match the Clone Wars series's droids. So, whenever someone says" this is just a recolor," it's generally wrong. One time someone said Anakin's fighter was just Obi Wan's fighter in new colors. Well, there's an obviously wrong statement. In fact, even Ahsoka's fighter is different from Anakin's because of the updated, duel fire and removal of the not- working ejection seat and the main body has less pieces. Quote
KimT Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 Still, I too think that the Droid Tank is not much more that just that. A recolor and face-lift of a previous set. I'd rather have almost anything else but that one, except the Pirate thigy which is absolutely useless and a big "Why did they make that one?" Quote

Its 4 minifigs and conceivable £20 price tag are the attractions for me Its not the set I had hoped it would be - we did need a new Corporate alliance tank but this one seems rather bland Quote
RoflWafls Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Listen guys, did you actually think you'll get a full size Home One? And guys, this is LEGO, the main consumers are kids. What parent would buy their kid a 500 dollar set? Lego let you, the consumer pick the next set, why don't you cut them some slack, you guys picked it. And we get 5 new minifigures, and you guys want 80? If you want Endor Rebels, go crazy buying the Endor Base. If you want a bigger hanger, go make one. This is Lego, do you think they'll make a hanger big enough to fit an X-Wing in it? I bet in a few years, this set will become the next Cloud City, and you guys will be whinning how you didn't get it.... Sorry if I sounded angry, I was just trying to be realistic here. Quote
