KimT Posted April 25, 2009 Author Posted April 25, 2009 Because there is a set with that number already? Could be, but we've seen set# being used for more than one set before. Hence the suffix -1,-2 & -3 on BL and Peeron Quote

-JD- Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 (edited) The Pirate Tank looks quite good. The figures are accurate and the tank looks very....well....tank like. They could have added one more pirate though. It looks like there are some hatches just in front of the engines, behind the turret. I wonder what they are for... A cockpit? Weapon storage? Greetings, JD Edited April 25, 2009 by Jammiedodger714 Quote
JimBee Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 But...why does it have the Clone Wars box art? I'd say that it's not an anniversary set anymore- just a special set. I'm thinking that the new box art covers all of OT, CW, and PT sets, minus the anniversary ones. I think the new MF looks quite nice, considering it's not full scale. I especially like the printed cone piece used as the cockpit- very innovative. However, I don't think I'll be picking this up, partially because it has no minifigs, and partially because of the high price that it may be. It's nice to look at on my desktop, though. I found a much larger image of the CAD.http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/avenged110/2009/1.2.jpg It looks like the clone trooper doesn't have a jetpack, he's only catapulted into the air. Why TLC, why! I'm liking this one, but I think it's lacking some detail. If the discs covering the "cockpit" would have been printed... or even stickered, it would have looked much better, IMO. Thanks for the new pics of the Mon Cal landing bay. The play features are nice, but other than getting it for the green A-Wing, I can't see getting it at all. Only the minifigs appeal to me, so I'll be searching BL. And it looks like they decided to keep Mon Mothma's emo-do. Finally, looking at a good final pic of the Pirate Tank, I have to say that it is pretty sweet. I like the general shape of it, and those brown and tan parts will definitely be useful. I also like the figs a lot, not something you generally see in a SW set. Have they changed Obi-Wan's face a little? Quote
MaxGoof Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Grrrr!! Whose idea was it to make the Pirate Tank WITHOUT Jar Jar?! From my recollection, Obi-Wan never fought one of the pirate tanks or was even near one, whereas Jar Jar commandeered one and won the battle with it. I think Jar Jar would give kids a way bigger reason to buy this than another Obi-Wan... Quote

Stash2Sixx Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 For all I care, they could have left out Obi Wan...And if they did include a JarJar figure, I would have just put him to work as slave labor in a MOC somewhere! I just want to know how sturdy this thing really is. This is the nicest looking of all the CW sets, IMO, next to the Republic Fighter Tank. That thing was fairly rugged, I hope this one is just as tough! Good job though LEGO, this one looks great!!! Quote
Derek Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Wait, people WANTING a Jar Jar? Since when did people like Jar Jar? Well, he hasn't turned up in Lego for around 10 years now, so I think there is a large amount of people who don't have him. I have one, but its really old and creaky . Quote

Algernon Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 That Pirate Tank has got to be the best-looking Star Wars set I've seen in a long time. I'm actually considering getting this one... and I'm normally totally against Star Wars. The design is just so attractive, and those pirate minifigs could be perfect for some alien themes... I sure hope it's not overpriced, but it will be. Quote

Also, I would rather get a new minifig than get a minifig that was already made before. And everyone else is right; Obi-Wan never even attacked a Pirate Tank... Quote
ADHO15 Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 I would have wanted Commander Stone, but that would never have happened. I would have liked him to, or at least a normal clone. However, in the article it mentions the tank is from 'Dooku Captured', neither Jar Jar or the clones were featured in that episode (I don't think ) so I doubt it was never ever planned that we'd see them in the set. ILikePi Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 (edited) Thanks for posting that comparison picture ADHO15. LEGO really made this set extremely accurate as LEGO can go. The only thing that they messed up were the minifigs... EDIT: It made my wishlist. Edited April 25, 2009 by ILikePi Quote

I agree about the looks: Bleh. I hate comparing LEGO sets to the licensed counterpart. The LEGO set always looks so clunky for the comparison. This is why I tend to dabble in original themes. Quote
DarthSion Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 The tank looks mad, really well done, but Hando looks horrible, he looks like a white ghetto pirate, and why is Obi there, he had nothing to do with the tanks. It should have been a clone, or JarJar, or even the commander. Quote
SWMAN Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 While the tank looks pretty good, the interviews that they have done recently are really a waste of time. The answers are obviously scripted, providing little insight into what actually goes on. Of course the designer has a personal favorite ship. He just can't say it though. With only 3-4 broad questions being asked, little info is given on what actually goes on. Quote
Bricklanta Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 I like the Pirat Tank a lot, but I bet it's going to be really expensive. Quote
Oky Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Well, I must admit that this looks much better than what we have seen in the prelim pics, especially the figs. But for some reason it doesn't make me want it any more than before. It's just that I didn't like the episode(s) it is based on too much, and it is a rather irrelevant vehicle in the SW universe. But maybe when it goes on sale... On a side note: This vehicle was not in Dooku Captured! That's just something TLC made up so that they don't have to give us Jar Jar and the clones with this set. simonjedi Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 On a side note: This vehicle was not in Dooku Captured! Of course not, because it was in "The Gungan General" Quote
JimBee Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Again, the Tank Droid does have printed pieces. That's a preliminary box design. But that picture that you linked too has "preliminary" written all over it, literally. The situation could be just like with the Venator, the newer version (the one very similar to the one at ToyFair) was leaked before the preliminary pictures were"legally" released. You already have the set! No, no, I mean my computer desktop- as in a wallpaper. Not on my desk literally. Quote

No, no, I mean my computer desktop- as in a wallpaper. Not on my desk literally. Maybe so, but the one you referred to was clearly older, ie. more preliminary. I mean, why would TLG make a preliminary box design with printed pieces and then get rid of them? Quote
The Who Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 I just realized, the Pirate Tank is one of the only new sets I don't really like, and I'm the one that found the news. I mean, why would TLG make a preliminary box design with printed pieces and then get rid of them? Makes perfect sense. Quote
simonjedi Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 The "Printed pieces" could just be marker pen or actually just bits of paper so people can get an idea of what it might look like Quote
