Millacol88 Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Good point, I was just a little tired of seeing this topic starting to move in circles discussing what we've discussed before. I actually like when that happens. All the newer members discuss useless things and we get to tell them we already figured out the answer to their pointless, meandering discussions hundreds of posts ago. Quote

All the newer members discuss useless things and we get to tell them we already figured out the answer to their pointless, meandering discussions hundreds of posts ago. I'm not new. I've been here longer than you! Back on topic! I love the pirate tank and Home One sets! The figs in both are amazing but I'm still on the fence about whether to buy them. The pirate tank, as well-designed and accurate as it is, is completely unrelated to anything else in my collection. There are only two figs so it would be easy to buy them from Bricklink, but then there's not much point having them without the tank! Home One has a lot of playability but will be too expensive for me to buy in addition to the CIS Shuttle, Tank droid, Hoth base and Battle of Endor sets. I might just buy the Ackbar fig from Bricklink and give this set a pass. I already have an A-Wing as well. Quote
-JD- Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 I am still unsure about the MonCal set. The price is too high, yet I love he minifigs and the design. Meh. B'day list it is. That hair on Mon Mothma whatever her name is, is wierd. Bad hairday? I would have thought they would use Leia's hair from the Endor set, speaking of which is a must buy. Greetings, JD Quote
TLV Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 wow i am seriously loving those minifigs! and black epaulettes? cool. Quote
Jlblue Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 I don't have any of the Clone Wars sets because they're sort of overpriced and one of the only things about them that intrigues me is some of the figures, like Plo Koon and the clones. But this Pirate Tank is probably something I'll get. I don't have a Clone Wars Obi, and the pirates plus the vehicle... it's all pretty sweet. For me, I'm glad it has Obi and not Jar Jar. Quote
Asuka Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 I like that new Pirate Tank, it looks pretty post-apocalyptic and it has a nice color scheme. Although I´m not completely fond of its design... maybe it could be a little smoother and more accurate, especially the side engines and the front part. The new Weequay MFs look great for sure... hmm, Weequays... I wonder if there´re some Bigquays out there too..? Quote
ILikePi Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 (edited) KimT, there are two battle droids and one droid pilot in the Separatist's Shuttle, not three battle droids. Also, the Ewoks in The Battle of Endor aren't generic Ewoks; they're Chief Chirpa, Paploo, and Wicket. Also, it looks like the DS trooper is being called an Imperial Trooper. I hope I helped! JimBee Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Good point, I was just a little tired of seeing this topic starting to move in circles discussing what we've discussed before.Of course this is meant for discussing news and sets. It's just that when we start discussing the print or non-print on the Snail Tank for the 7th time, then I get a little down I'd rather we discussed the Pirate Tank, Midi-scale MF & Home One since they're the newest revealed sets and the Snail Tank info hasn't been updated/renewed since Brickfair - so I don't see any need to revive that discussion before we get better pics of the set. Sounds fair? On top of that I haven't been that aggresive in this topic since I made the 'closed' news topic, in order to allow the discussion to be a little more 'free' than before, when I said "Stay On Target!" more than once per day Feel free to let me know if this is going to far. Alright, sounds fair. The Snail Tank is a 2009 set, so I don't see the point in not discussing it's final version. I'll shut up about that misprint crap, though. Admit defeat! default_laugh_new.gif New moulds and printing would not be unnecessary and are extremely likely to be included in the set. Alright, alright. I really do hope the discs have printing of some kind, though. Regarding the information of the first post, KimT, a few things that you missed are: - The Midi-scale MF is a Wal-Mart exclusive - This might be a minor point, but perhaps you could add that the Grievous mini fighter was released in March/April? - The price of the GG fighter is/ was 3.45 USD That's all. On a side note, I wonder what material the Endor Rebel's helmets are made of? They don't look like solid plastic, but maybe a rubbery/plasticy substance, like Kit Fisto's head. Quote
ILikePi Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 (edited) - The price of the GG fighter is/ was 3.45 USD Really? At my Target, it was $3.99 USD. Edited April 26, 2009 by ILikePi Quote
Oky Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 I bet that the two barrels at the front of the pirate tank are flick-fire missile which are launched by pushing that grey 1x2 wall piece behind it forward. The distance between the barrels and the wall piece is 3 studs; perfect for a flick-fire piece to fit in. Besides, there is nothing on that spot on the "real" pirate tank, so why else would it be there. There seem to be some more in the back, and the stickered panels behind the gunner obviously open up. Anyone agree? Also, the article mentions a pop-up drivers seat. Anyone know what they are talking about? I don't think it's the same seat as the gunner's since the minifig would never fit through the 2x2 hole. But perhaps it's not supposed to pop up with the minifig on it? Quote

If you look at the box pic on the first post of this thread, you will see the missiles at the front have been 'flicked' out. I think there could be two on the back as well, like you said. They are definitely hinged pieces behind the gunner. Maybe you open the tops up and there's something to fire the gunner out of his seat. Either that or the sides open to reveal weapons storage. They're my ideas. I think the gunner would be able to shoot out the top, otherwise you'd have to open it up somehow to put him in. Quote

They don't look like solid plastic, but maybe a rubbery/plasticy substance, like Kit Fisto's head. Perhaps, but I doubt it. A helmet seems like a really weird piece in which to use that rubbery stuff. IMO it really should only be used for alien heads and other things that you would expect to have that sort of consistency. Quote
General Magma Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Wow..the tank is so amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy cow! Holy cow! Holy cow! Holy cow! Holy cow! Did I say holy cow already? Anyways, I will buy it FOR SURE. The Weequay pirate chief is awesome too, and the other pirate too, but I preferred dark-grey heads. Oh well, it's still awesome! Quote

IMO it really should only be used for alien heads and other things that you would expect to have that sort of consistency. It's probably going to be new Yoda head plastic. It's definitely not Kit Fisto head plastic, because it has something more than the texture, that you can see. Yoda head plastic is bendable and flexible, but still looks and feels like normal, so Lego will replicate the partially-rubber helmets with bendable plastic. Quote
DarthSion Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 I checked the first post and it didn't say, what exactly is the read thing Palatine is holding. BTW KimT, not sure if its because i am an Aussie, but, all the S@H links for the unreleased sets come up with, "sorry not found", and a kid smacking his head. Quote

Have they used that plastic anywhere else? Like perhaps it was used in that rubbery piece in the Assassin droids battle pack? At any rate, I really would prefer it if they stuck with good old ABS, but we'll have to wait until we have the figs in our hands to make the judgement. Quote

It also could be that it looks the way it is because it's a prototype helmet. In the prototype Bionicle pics from the toyfair 2009 I had been looking at, a lot of their heads were this weir-lighter, non-TLG plastic. I looked back to other toyfairs and it happens every year, which they then change for the final product. Quote

Well I would imagine they would have to hurrry everything along to be ready for the various toyfairs. You could be right. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 I checked the first post and it didn't say, what exactly is the read thing Palatine is holding. It is plans for the Death Star. On topic, the Star Wars article on the Pirate Tank mentions how there is an elevating gunner's seat. Looking at the pictures, I wonder how this will be incorporated. Will it perhaps be a similar design to the elevating seat on the Republic Fighter Tank? Since there is an elevating seat, that must mean that there is enough room inside to seat a minifig. I wonder how much of an interior there will be. Quote

DoctorDude234 Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Does anyone know how the little flick-fire missle in front of the pirate tank work? The only thing behind it is the pop up pirate. Quote
