WhiteFang Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Wow! This looks real neat. I wonder if its similar to the Chrome Darth Vader. I never unexpected this new item at all. Quote
DarthSion Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 The best bit it looks like its for sale, not give away, although given how the new sets are i doubt it will be cheap. Quote
KimT Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 The best bit it looks like its for sale, not give away, although given how the new sets are i doubt it will be cheap. It'll probably be priced like the other magnets. Only difference is that with this one you get only one instead of 3 figs. Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 AWESOME! This thing looks like it's for real! Nice find! Quote
DarthSion Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 It'll probably be priced like the other magnets.Only difference is that with this one you get only one instead of 3 figs. Yeah i guess, guess we will just wait and see if its real, or well done fake. Quote
CopMike Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Great find AoNZ ! Looks genuine to me! Sweet, let the army building begin ! Any of you SW-nerds who can come up with a good number/name of the unit which they belong to? CopMike Quote
PDQAg Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 The silver stormtrooper is definately NOT fake. I picked it up last Friday at LEGOLAND California where they were just beginning to put them on the shelves. Hopefully this picture will be conclusive evidence: At LEGOLAND California, the Anniversary Stormtrooper was US $12.99. Oh, and as a bonus bit of new LEGO item news, here is a new "dark side" magnet set: The magnet set is US $14.99. As a reminder, Star Wars Weekend is happening at LEGOLAND California this upcoming weekend, June 13th and 14th. If you are in the area, come check it out! Quote
KimT Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 Thanks for confirming this. Now why don't you do a review for all of us with some great close-up pics and I'll make sure to frontpage it? Frontpage updated Hopefully these new magnets wont be the same crappy Chinese quality (or lack of the same) that we've seen with the past Star Wars magnets being released (the odd orange rebel pilot, the strange red in the Emperor Guard and odd off minifig head prints ). I've seen some of the Chinese produced ball-pens loose colour when exposed to a little sunlight and trust me Yoda looks sick when his head turns blue. Please let it be nowhere near the chrome C3P0 used for the ball pens Quote
AoNZ Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Wow! Thanks for showing those there. They look great! I was hoping they would make more magnet sets. Quote
KimT Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 Agreed. Could you please look for the 7digit numbers on the 'boxes'? Also could you please check where the parts were made? I recall the ball pens having a "Made under license" and then some Chinese company name. I'd hate to pay for a chromie Stormie that has the chrome coming off after a few days. Quote
RileyC Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 WOW! Shiny stormie! I cant wait to get my hands on it Quote
Legoman Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 That's... Different It looks weird IMO. I'll have to check it out more. Yay! Another backround card to make! Wonder if/how/where it'll be released... Quote
Ras 74 Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 This looks great! Wonder if it will be available everywhere, or just a new US thing? Wierd that it is already out at a LEGOLAND, and not on S@H yet. Quote
PDQAg Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Since closeup pictures and a quick review were requested, I have done my best to oblige. Sorry if the pictures turned out blurry, my camera was having trouble focusing on the chrome at such close distance. First off, the front: It's your standard stormtrooper, with a printed front and helmet, but in chrome! Underneath the helmet, there is just a standard black minifig head. The back is also printed! Good job LEGO! Everything that comes in the packaging. Hold on a second! How did you get that sweet chrome armor?!? Well, that just about wraps things up. KimT: The silver stormtrooper's item number is 4560075 and says "Components made in DENMARK and CHINA." The item number for the "dark side" magnets is 4560062. Quote
KimT Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 Now put those pics into good use and make an individual topic on this reviewing it like you've just done Thanks for the crystal clear pics I am soo getting a zillion of these Quote
Shadows Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 At LEGOLAND California, the Anniversary Stormtrooper was US $12.99. Beautiful! Oh, and as a bonus bit of new LEGO item news, here is a new "dark side" magnet set: Not bad. Still not sure what to do with those Shadow Troopers, but I'll pick this one up anyway. As a reminder, Star Wars Weekend is happening at LEGOLAND California this upcoming weekend, June 13th and 14th. If you are in the area, come check it out! Wish I could. Quote
CommanderFox Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 !!DROOOOLL!!! CHROME!!! YAY!!! Chrome stormies i can't wait to find out if they are going to be released in NZ. Finally Lego have done a Chrome clone of some sort, they just need one from ROTS and AOTC then its a whole family PDQAg can you make another topic like KimT suggested...i think this stormie deserves his own topic and another review. CommanderFox Quote
RileyC Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 wow close ups look even better than i expected! his is head chrome too cause it doesnt look like a normal stormie black head? Thanks for the pictures! :cry_happy: Quote
PDQAg Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 No, it's just a normal black minifig head. I think it is just all the chrome around it that makes it look extra shiny. And my review now has it's own thread for everyone to drool over! Enjoy! Quote
KimT Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 And my review now has it's own thread for everyone to drool over! Enjoy! And we will. Indexed, poll added and frontpaged for everyone to see Quote
Legoman Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 ... So is it chrome silver? Or gold or black or I'm still coming to terms with it. I just don't want the specialty of the whole chroming thing to go down the drain by over doing it. This fig has confused my poor brain. I's like it if it were chrome white I just... have no idea what this is. Quote
KimT Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 I feel the same way. But let's keep the discussion on this beauty in the review of it. Quote
DarthSion Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 OMD, that looks amazing, ok so its real, now what about the most important thing, are we ALL getting it, or is another USA only thing?. Do magnets get sold anywhere other than S@H?. Quote
KimT Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 OMD, that looks amazing, ok so its real, now what about the most important thing, are we ALL getting it, or is another USA only thing?. Hopefully this will spread all over the world. I imagine they're keeping it in California for the Star Wars weekend and then release it for the rest of us. [fingers crossed] Do magnets get sold anywhere other than S@H?. LEGO stores have them and I've heard that some selected stores worldwide have them as well. I haven't seen them around here though.
