ROCON Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Good point and maybe the picture was taken at a bad angle like the ift-x before it was released. I hope it has the 4 engines to accurate scale and that they're not giant space wheels. Quote
Tim Bit Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I'm fine with it. Like I said I'm getting it no matter what. I can hardly wait for it to be available Quote
Motti Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 And if the set really includes a pilot and a gunner, than probably the set has an interior turbolaser gunner station, or maybe a gun itself, like on the Death Star. And the pilot is obviously placed in some sort of bridge like room, perhaps located in the bridge structure itself to allow more space for play? Quote
halomaster96 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Have any of you even stopped to consider that the picture itself may be the one that is messed up? It almost looks as though it is stretched/squished. I myself thinks it looks nice, but we can all agree it definately needs more figs, maybe Plo Koon, Luminara, Kit Fisto, hell, I wouldn't mind Ahsoka. I was kind of hoping for a clone officer though... I stretched the Image out on MS paint. Doesn't look so bad now, eh? I know the minifigs look distorted, but its possible they were photoshopped into the already stretched picture... That looks much better! somewhere on it I saw the edge of a hangar bay door. I think that it looks great but could still be improved (big time). They will probably put more figs in it, if they don't, it better have an awesome interior, if not I will make one. With this pic hopefully pics of the other 2nd 2009 wave sets. They didn't ruin the venator, it's just preliminary. Also The Penguin wasn't the only one who saw the trader catalogue! Quote

Are you insinuating that you saw it also? If so, tell me this is not the pic you saw. And also tell me if I interpreted your statement incorrectly . If you think this is bad, I can't wait till I see the prelim of Home One. Unlike the Venator, that thing's ugly in the first place! And as for the weird guns the Senate guards or commandos are holding, it may be the new gun featured in the comic in this thread's first post. And for those of you who have said that the side trenches look too thecni-blocky to be official, the ISD was pure technic-piece in the trenches. Edited January 8, 2009 by Motti Quote
Matteo Kenobi Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) I went into Photoshop since it has better quality then Paint and found a few things out you all may be interested in The think the thing in Palpy's hand looks like a hat to me, since it does match his robe. You can also see that black crease going through the middle which does make it look a bit like a hat to me. This is just another picture that I did that makes the Venator look a bit better. I too saw what looked like might be a hanger door, maybe they are trying to do the exterior non-minifig scale and the interior regular minifig scale. Edited January 8, 2009 by Matteo Kenobi Quote
LegoJoe Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 For anyone who has the Hyena Bomber- What color are the Space Battle Droids? Dark Red? Dark Orange? Brown? It seems different in every pic I see. Thanks! -darthperson They're dark orange. Quote
Justin2224 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 After reading every one elses complaints, my turn!! Ok, well this is by far not LEGO's greatest work (but hopefully it's just a bad quality pre-lim shot), but it's not their worst either. I was sorta hoping that it would look more like the Venator in Matteo Kenobi's sig, but oh well.... It looks too short from this veiw, but it is around 50 studs long. The minifig count sucks really, but the few there are are good. A pilot that is not needed in the set it comes with would be nice to have, as is an extra Clone Gunner. Hope we get new pics of this and other sets soon. Quote
Knightsword Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I put it close to 60 to 70 studs long, the front section though is around 30. Quote
Corvus Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 It may not be preportionate to the real thing, but what about how it looks as a lego set in general? I think it looks quite nice if you don't think about the real Venator. It's more minifig and interior friendly, and actually looks quite cute and more able to blend in with other lego sets. Quote
Algernon Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I hate Star Wars, but this one looks unusually good. Quote
darkrebellion Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Well looking better at the pics I notice more bad points for this set: - The front angle looks very rise in my opinion (The angle created by the central red stripe) and that looks very out of place in my opinion . The ISD gets the perfect angle put the angle of this one is wrong. - In my opinion the trenche is very open (The ISD has also technic based trenches but they are a lor more hide) and what is that thing that appears to be build of two technic bins in the nearly front trench section? And for the interior what we can expect? In my opinion not much. Yeah it loooks like the TLC makes the set like this to include an elaborated interior but what they can include? A Palpy desk? A conference room? Another escape pod? Honestly I think we unfortunately will receive the classic escape pod and some conference room with an hologram table . Quote
Corvus Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 And for the interior what we can expect? Well that's just it- we can't. We can guess what's likely, and how much room there is to MOD. I like your idea of a conference table with hologram, but I'd also venture to guess some sort of mini-hangar (with mini-ship like Vader's TIE in the DS, hopefully), and maybe even some sort of small control room. Erdbeereis Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I went into Photoshop since it has better quality then Paint and found a few things out you all may be interested in Palpatine's hair looks almost blonde... I wonder what that red thing in his hand is. Thanks for the blown-up image! Quote
Derek Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 This picture is clearly preliminary. Look at all the new figures we've gotten this year, then look at the preliminaries. Mace, Yoda, etc. Even Willie, Short Round, gangsters and the mechanic from the Indy prelims look completely different. Don't get all worried. Knowing Lego, I'm 110% positive we will end up getting that new hair used for Dooku. I think it was actually intended for Palpy himself. Quote
Darth Yoda Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 What makes everyone think that this is Palpy? Quote
Bricklanta Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) It would be great if we got a general Grievous fig in one of the late 09 sets that had a painted face. They already did Yoda so I'm sure they will do Grievous eventually. I hate Star Wars, but this one looks unusually good. How could you hate Star Wars???!!! It's made my life interesting for the last decade, and made me spend a lot more money! About the Venator: I will definitely get it. It looks good yes it does look a little short and stubby, but I'll get used to it. I think the major reason why I will get it is so I can display it and for the figs :P Edited January 8, 2009 by BRICKLANTA Quote
ROCON Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) I too hope for a new Greivous(cw) as well Bricklanta; a bigger, flexible, and sturdier Greivous would be nice. But which set? =0 Edited January 8, 2009 by ROCON Quote
Eskallon Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I too saw what looked like might be a hanger door, maybe they are trying to do the exterior non-minifig scale and the interior regular minifig scale. Yes you are probably right they are trying to make it like that just like they did with the imperial star destroyer. I will be getting this set for many reasons. It however does look a lot smaller than 6211 star destroyer set but that might just be the picture. The figs also look good with possibly the two blue ones being senate guards. Quote
ReZourceman Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I'm suprised people think the price isn't correct....all the other Clone Wars sets have been vastly over priced. Why not this one too? Looks alright. Quote
ForceMaster Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 If you think that's not really set, I say - it's real! I saw trade catalog too, and this Venator and this figures have been in this catalog! Forward part rises on 90° up, and we can see Venator's Inventory. Quote
CF Mitch Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Well well... I'm not so sure if this is the official set, but I sure hope it is, it looks great to me. Not too big, and nice figs, I can always use a Clone Pilot Greatings, CF W Oh and by the way: I think Palpatine is holding a hologram if the Death Star. Like the one Count Dooku showed to Darth Sidious at the end of AOTC Quote
Bricks Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Really nice set! I love this design, it's simple awesome. The negative point is the number of the figures five?! Well if the price is acceptable than this set will mine... Oh and by the way: I think Palpatine is holding a hologram if the Death Star. Like the one Count Dooku showed to Darth Sidious at the end of AOTC Yes, it looks really like an red hologramm in form of Dooku's head! Greetings Bricks Quote
Bobskink Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) The Venator looks great, but seeing it's size and estimating the probable price range it comes with not enough minifigs. Even if they are new. I can't imagine this set doing well in Europe. (seems I red every post exept the one above, excuse me) Good point on the probable holgram, but I doubt it, that would realy be a bummer. Edited January 8, 2009 by Bobskink Quote
Penitent Tangent Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) It's always fun coming here and seeing so many new posts, easy to tell when something big is going on. The venator looks fine to me, it does look a little chunky at the front, but that's probably because of the interior, which is really weak on the Star Destroyer, so if it means they've done something better with this one, it's fine by me. I have to critisise the choice of minifigs though, the guards or commando's/whatever are pretty cool and getting a Palpatine is nice as well, but the two random clones is very bizarre. Simply throwing in a Jedi, like Luminara as a few suggested before, would have made the set a lot more appealing. Edited January 8, 2009 by Penitent Tangent Quote
