General Magma Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 That Venator, it looks pretty nice but guys, remember that there's a big chance it's gonna be changed, so I think, (and hope) that it's not the final thing. Quote

Why would there big a big chance that it's changed? Given the time needed to produce these sets, I doubt it'll change. The questions is "Real or fake?" when looking at this set. Quote
slimninj4 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I think the kit looks wonderful. Perfect size. I bet the front part raises to show the interior and there will be a bridge section? I'm thinking it will be about 120$ with less pieces than the ISD from 2007. They are over pricing these about 10$ to much and this bigger set should be about 20$ over. Quote
SupaaSayajin Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 the price of 180 Euro for the Venator cannot be true. Its way to small for that! Quote
pjibid Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Palpy looks wierd in red i would prefer grey. Quote
Sir Dano Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Pepa Quin says this set may be a fake: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sirdano/31783...57612324148714/ So I'll wait until we get better pics before judging it. Quote
sam89 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 But people always think new pics are fake. And when was the last time they were right? Quote
General Magma Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Palpy looks wierd in red i would prefer grey. In the Clone Wars he wears red. BTW it's prelim, if I am right it will be changed to dark red (his clothes) anytime before the release of the Venator set. Quote
THE-FORCE Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I like it! And I think it's real because it really has a kind of real LEGO(I mean no MOC) thing, I also think there might be more figs inside the. It also has the LEGO pic blurr, what most LEGO pics(I mean before LEGO have released the pics themselves) have. Look at it, think of it, LOVE IT! Greets, The-Force! PS: I can be wrong. And PPS: I'm talking about the Venator. Quote
-JD- Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 It looks great! It looks a bit chunky at the front, but overall it is a must buy. Presuming it is real of course. JD Quote
Antroz147 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I'm a bit dissapointed with the Venator. I would have expected it to be bigger. The figs are cool but the price I'll be waiting for more pics to judge. Quote

I am quite confident that this isn't preliminary. Quote
Skipper 24 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Well it could be real could be fake. It would be a waste of time faking something like that though IMO. The body of the figure in red looks more like Willie Scott from Indy although it could be some weird flesh toned Nute Gunray who I think wore red robes in the episode. Quote
Derek Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 How would you know that this is a preliminary design?I am quite confident that this isn't preliminary. You really think that they have the final designs perfected more than 6 months before release? Quote
simonjedi Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I think the sides slope down a bit too much and the front is a bit too stubby, should be longer. Quote
Holy Diver Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I went into Photoshop since it has better quality then Paint and found a few things out you all may be interested in The think the thing in Palpy's hand looks like a hat to me, since it does match his robe. You can also see that black crease going through the middle which does make it look a bit like a hat to me. That's no hat. That's a space station (Death Star Hologram anyone?). Quote
CopMike Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Fake or real? -> If I would guess I would definitely go for the real deal. It looks, and feels TLG in my tummy ! As for everybody pukeing all over the design etc -> This is probably just like the 6211 Imperial Star Destroyer. By that I mean a set designed for KIDS - not for AFOL´s that want more of everything and better designs. There is special sets for that, like the UCS series and the Taj Mahal, the Eiffel Tower etc. This is for the main market and will probably look like this if it´s released (=real). Then of course one could always argue about specific details or technics used but hey - see that as possibilities for MOC´ing ! TLG must be doing something right because there are all of us AFOL´s out there that has taken the plastic brick to our hearts, buying lots & lots of it and hanging around communitys discussing it ! Everybody is of course entitled to their own opinion but again, isn´t amazing the number of SW sets & minifigs that TLG has launched during a ten year period? It certainly is in my book ! My 5 cents / CopMike Quote
achris Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) This is why companies like Lego get really funny about having pictures like this leaked online early, people make huge judgements before they have seen the finished product and it can create alot of negative buzz, although of course it is also very exciting to see something so early so I understand why all the fans want to see. In 2 weeks time you will get to see pictures of almost the rest of what Lego has instore for 2009 Only last week I had to sign a Confidentiality agreement from Hasbro to see some of the new star wars, transformers 2 and GI Joe toys and these agreements are very frightening looking, i'm probably being watched as I type this. lol Edited January 8, 2009 by achris Quote
Darth Legolas Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) Let's get serious with this, think about it. Would you pay 180 euros for this? If you do, then you've really got no better ways to spend your money. I measured, and it shall be no bigger than the RAS. That's right, not even 18 inches long. I however LIKED the ISD, but this? No. The main thing is, it lacks the obvious features of a Venator. picture removed by request of TLG The Senate Commandos look exactly like someone matched the blue on MS paint of a minifig and drew the heads on, and it looks like Palpy has a yellow blob for a head. There are disgustingly obvious technic beams showing all over the place, there are huge patches of DARK BLEY all over the front. If you are a true star wars fan at all, you'd know the entire ship is light bley! There's also a mysterious gap on the edge, like a huge piece fell off, and in the center of the ship you can see black line gaps between where the top attaches and everywhere else. If they fix all these up, then I'd consider it worth buying. Edited January 10, 2009 by KimT picture removed by request Quote

Ok, that mysterious 'gap' in the middle, is actually the docking bay, where shutles and fighters come into land, so that is actually correct http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars...d8/Venator3.jpg But all your other points are valid. ADHO15 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Ok, that mysterious 'gap' in the middle, is actually the docking bay, where shutles and fighters come into land, so that is actually correct I think he means the gap at the bottom of the slope, beneath the bridge, where the 'nose' connects. Personally, I like the ship and the selection of minifigs included. I don't think it is the best representation but the mini venator is too stubby compared to the real thing so TLG may not be too bothered how long it should be. I'm not bothered about scale too much and I think there will be good playability factors inside. I doubt there are anymore hidden minifigs inside. Quote
JCC1004 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I found it whilst searching brickshelf last night. It's gone now, but the saying: "Right click and save - is your friend" proved right once more. I'll attach it to this topic once more, and yes it looks real to me Attachment coming up edit: snip Did you take that echo base pic out is is there a problem with my computer? just wondering if that picture was fake or anything. Colonel Bulstrode Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I think it looks beautiful. It looks like you get Emperor Palpitine, 2 Royal Guards, a Clone pilot, and a Clone gunner. The only thing is, the front should be a lot longer. Sp1nKy Quote
