Mraz Skintas Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 That makes total sense, an I could easily see it happening. It would probably be a Walmart exclusive. Quote
Millacol88 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I hope it's not exclusive. Those are always hard to find. I'm thinking that if this set includes everything you guys are talking about, the price will not be on par with Echo Base. It had five figures, a molded animal, and not much else. We're expecting this to have Ben, Luke, R2, C-3P0, and two tuskens, as well as a bantha. Add in the landspeeder, which I believe will be larger than the 1999 one, and around the same size as the 2004 one, and I think your looking at a set more expensive than 25 USD, especially if we're hoping for the return of sand-red. It's possible, it just seems unlikely. Quote

It's possible, it just seems unlikely. I agree that if this set is going to have that many minfigures (especially main characters) then the price will be closer to the Pirate Tank or Sep Shuttle than Echo Base. Can I just check something with people who knows more? The list (even if it is correct) can only represent the first wave of sets, right? I'm sure for the last few years we get more sets than that in a year. So for those of us who didn't get our wishes for future sets then there's still chance (even if a small chance) that we'll get it in the second wave? Quote
Millacol88 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Fumoffu, yes, this is the first wave. Although it is possible the landspeeder is an exclusive that will get released a little later, because of the differences in the set numbers. And yes, it's possible you will see some sets you were wishing for in wave two, which usually hits around the end of July, earlier and later in some parts of the world. Quote

-JD- Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 LEGO tend to release fan choices etc in the latter part of the year. I'm still hoping for the Senator Office set. It sucks LEGO may not do it because there was a mini version in the Venator. Quote
Millacol88 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I know, thats one of the few PT sets I would look forward to. Unfortunately, it looks like TLC has left behind Ep. 3, so I doubt it would happen. If it did come out, though, it would be way over-priced. We would essentially need two new head molds (for Saessee Tiin and Agen Kolar), and there would be six figures total, with not a lot of real "set" to work around. Basically just a chair and a desk, maybe a window. It would be an overpriced fig pack. Quote
rockinkurt13 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 hey, look at this Lego 8083 – Star Wars Rebel Trooper Battle Pack Lego 8084 – Star Wars Snowtrooper Battle Pack Lego 8085 – Star Wars Freeco Speeder Lego 8086 – Star Wars Droid Tri-Fighter Lego 8087 - Star Wars Tie Defender Lego 8088 - Star Wars ARC-170 Starfighter Lego 8089 ??? Lego 8090 TECHNIC UNIVERSAL SET (old non star wars) Lego 8091 ??? Lego 8092 - Star Wars Luke's Landspeeder the ??? are exclusives, cause <correct me if mistaken> those sets we don't learn of till later right? like mon calamari <blah blah> set? Quote
Darth Legolas Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 (edited) Can I just say on the subject of the exclusives that never were, thank God we didn't get the Slave I! It would be the stupidest thing, considering we already have two, one only a few years old, and it would just include a big fancy plate! I don't think we'll ever get those exclusives. Lego did do the right thing putting a small Chancellors office in the Venator though. I needed those minifigs. Of course when I got my Venator I didn't put the bombing, gunning or Palpatine's office feature in. I ripped them all out and put the office in it's own MOC building, while using all of the new empty space in the Venator for real useful things, like blunt shooters! Now the real hot topic going on are the two speeders. Luke's speeder and the Freeco. I think we've made a good guess that Luke's landspeeder will be over priced, but hey, it can't be crappy then, right? The freeco probably won't have that many great figs. And although it seems stupid not too, I'm skeptical about us even getting a CAT. I'm not saying we won't though, just that Lego wouldn't press out a new mold just for a set that only really little kids and creepy adults will buy. No offense, DarthSion... I would buy the Freeco bike. Edited August 13, 2009 by Darth Legolas Quote
Commander Assassin Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I don't know why everyone thinks there is going to be a bantha in the Luke's Landspeeder set. To me, it makes no sense, unless Lego is trying to pull of a set a lot like Echo Base. Also, I'm almost sure that the Freeco Bike will include Obi-Wan or Anakin. I will be very sad if the ARC-170 is not Ep. III. I wish Lego would start making Ep.II and Ep. III sets again. (I want Jango and Ep. III Commander Cody) However, I am very interested to see the TIE Defender prelim pics and price. I am hoping that it will include a TIE fighter pilot, Imperial Officer, Imperial Engineer, and a black astromech. (maybe a stormie) Also, I wouldn't mind a supply train (like in the recent A-Wing). I very much hope that the new Tri-Fighter will be better than the last one, as I hated the build of it. Also, I know there's not much hope of this, but I want a mini-fig in the set. (other than a buzz droid or a battle droid) A jet trooper wouldn't be bad. As for the BPs, I'll have to see prelim pics before I make any speculation. Quote
Mraz Skintas Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I doubt there will be prelims of the BPs, as we have already seen them, just hella blurry. The Tri-fighter's build really couldn't be much different than the first, as it was pretty spot on. Why wouldn't you want a Bantha? So far the only two riding beasties we've had are the Dewback and Taun taun, oh, and the Kaadu, so make that three, but a Bantha would be great. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 If these sets become official, then LEGO has somewhat given a balance among PT/OT/TCW to satisfy most of the fans... Among all these 'speculated' sets, I'm most interested with the Freeco Speeder Bike and ARC-170... The Freeco Bike will be probably based on the TCW season 1 episode "Trespass", which might give us a cold assault trooper minifig (new) or (another) obi-wan/anakin.. But I wish they just did a BARC speeder set based on the upcoming TCW season 2, where we briefly saw in the trailer Rex riding one, this would be great addition to my clone army building... As for the ARC-170, i would definitely be getting these as I missed the previous one... Quote

Can't forget Boga. As nice as a Bantha would be, I doubt we will get one, because they never played that big of a role in the movie, they were just in the background. Seeing as we don't get figures of background characters, I can't see us getting a new big molded background animal anytime soon... Quote

The key factor is whether we are willing to pay enough to make it worth Lego's while to release one for us. I'm sure if their market research tells them that Bantha will sell like hotcakes at a very very good price then it will be released. End of the day, Lego is neither a fan club nor a charity. Its a business. Sure you might be a good corporate citizen and all that but making a profit is key. Quote

In it a Dewback was included. And Dewbacks were seen in episode 4 only for a very short time, too. So why shouldn't there be a Bantha, too?! TLG knows that we're that much interested in a Bantha and even would pay a lot of money for it - so it would be unwise to not include one in the Luke's Landspeeder set. And finally (like already mentioned) TLG has to include something new in this set - otherwise only people which do not own a Landspeeder will buy it and those who already own a Landspeeder won't buy it. This has been working for years now - TLG re-design many vehicles two or three times but always included something new in order to that people want to buy it (in fact only because of the new minfigs and/or accessory - but not because of the new design of the vehicle). So I'm very sure this will be that way this time, too. Klaus-Dieter Quote

Raphy Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Freeco swoop bike? . . . . That made my day. I vote for Rex in cold assault gear w/ a couple of Talz throwing spears at him on the box art. Quote

Since I dont have luke's landspeeder just yet ill definitely get it but id love ben's house and a moisture evaporator in it as well. As for a banther I think if this is going to be a cheap-ish set them lego would want to cut back on the special molds which is a a shame but the amazon site link says it weighs 300 g which is 3 times heavier than a assassin droid battle pack so It seems like a pretty medium sized set. Big Pete Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 it's disappeared from Lego S@H worldwide ... I'm hoping it's just an issue with availability. I already have 1 but I wanted another couple ... Oooh, it's back (in the UK at least)! I ordered 2 today (plus a Home One set) in case it disappears again! Quote
LEGOscum Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Has anyone thought to weigh the Landspeeder that came in 4501 Mos Eisley Cantina? If the details on Amazon are correct you can work out how much weight will remain and from that figure out a rough brick count. That should give you some idea of what might be included, if anything.
