Dark Brickz Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 the venator is an iconic ship comes out ep2, clone wars and ep3. its great we're getting it mini fig scale, but i would still like to get in a UCS version. Quote
Darth Legolas Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I very highly doubt that the Pirate Tank will be a UCS set. I'm sure they have many guidelines when they choose what UCS sets to produce, like how iconic it is to the franchise. I don't think that many adults (target buyers of UCS) will want to buy an expensive set of a vehicle featured in one episode of the Clone Wars. Exactly what I said, what few fans of the Clone Wars there are, they wouldn't make a UCS of one of the most unimportant ships in history! I'm sure when the Clone Wars time line comes out, Lucas will even declare those two episodes non-canon. He would do that kind of thing, plus, it's VERY unlike Dooku to give up the perfect opportunity to destroy two Jedi. But the Pirate Tank set will still be cool, but we're not getting a UCS. the venator is an iconic ship comes out ep2, clone wars and ep3. its great we're getting it mini fig scale, but i would still like to get in a UCS version. Uh-wrong. Look again, it didn't appear until Episode III. So it's only one Episode, but still, it isn't 10 years old, and I'm sure you'll get your wish, I'm hoping for a UCS Venator too, but it's not coming this summer, and it's definitely not a 10 year anniversary set. But the Venator does deserve a UCS version, considering so many people have taken it upon themselves to do that already. But where did you think it appeared in Episode II? Those were Acclamator I's. Darth Legolas Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Since nobody read my post, I will repeat it again! The Venator is NOT from Episode II! Ever heard of Acclamators? And the whole mini thing? I think I'm going to tear my hair out! Now, onto a subject that doesn't make my brain bleed. The Palpy arrest. Since TLG said they might make it even though it lost anyways, it's all Episode III, so no Clone Wars style figs. I think that it'll be stupid to have that set, considering I'm sure Lego wouldn't bother making Agen Kolar and Saesee Tiin, so all we'll get at least is: normal style Palpy, Kit Fisto and Mace Windu. As you can see, a dazzling minifig guess list. Though a non-CW Palpy may be nice, Perhaps if they make the set I'd just buy him off Bricklink, but I'd already have him from the Venator so... there's no point for me! Quote

Why would they have CW style Episode III characters though? I still think that unless the set has Agen Kolar or Saesee Tiin, two unimportant Jedi, yet the only characters in that set that aren't already minifigs, then it's just a waste of money. But again, Lego might not even make this set! Of course, it could be good if it had an awesome build to it, in which I'd just by the hollow minifig-less set and put my own minifigs in. Quote

As for the Palpatine's arrest, I really can't see them making this into a $100 set. If they did it as a $20-$30 set, with just Palpatine, Anakin, Mace, and Kit, as well as some office furniture and a breakble window, it would be great. But if they went the $100 route, maybe they would go so far as to include Anakin's speeder, a hallway, a few Senate pods and arena (maybe Yoda so their duel can be recreated?), and some Royal guards. They could go any of those routes and still make a good set. Who knows, I can't wait till we get pics though. Quote

Why wouldn't Lego make Saesee Tiin? He's an important member of the Jedi Council and was fairly prominent in the original Clone Wars cartoon, where he was a general and had a WAY-cool Jedi Starfighter. I'd say he's at least moderately important, and probably ties Aayala Secura as the most important Jedi not to have a Lego figure yet. Quote

Snake...SNAKE...SNAAAAKE?! Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 I forgot about that Kowakian-Monkey Lizard! I think we should get him to, and TLG would get more off the set for the first Kowakian Monkey Lizard. I also want that new Clone Commander, with the almost all-red helmet. I'd also want the Senator guy, but since he's dead and unimportant, I doubt we'll get him. (The three-eyed one.) No, no, no and no! We have 3 sources agreeing that's not going to happen, sorry. We already said, two Jet troopers, and some BD's. (I think.) They might not be one time deals, but they're definitely not going to be in any known summer set so far. I actually think the new Clone Commander is Fives from Rookies!!!! Quote
CloneCommanderDelta7 Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 (edited) We might be getting an Aaylaa Secura minifig in 2009 or 2010 (a long wait)! POSSIBLY. She appears as a main character for a couple episodes. No. 13 jedi crash. I think. I hope we get the heavy troopers ( like the one to the left) , galactic marines and the paratroopers from Utapau in official minifig form. Ther's one thing, though. Palpy's office (Mace windu duel) and the senate (Yoda duel) are in separate locations, so that pretty much kills that idea. The senate chamber is connected to palpy's office by a telescopic pole that lifts his special senate seat and the other offices are linked by small hallways so maybe it might be possible. I disagree. We need a Ki-Adi-Mundi! And whatever happened to the long blaster? It seems that there has been an ever dwindling amount of them since the year of their creation, 2007. Hopefully August 2009 will have mostly long blasters, come on, it's the 10th anniversiary for crying out loud. Edited January 12, 2009 by CloneCommanderDelta7 Quote

Aayla is featured in Clone Wars episodes 13 & 14 at least and so we have the most chance of seeing her, in my opinion. The tank droid set is the most likely of the Summer 09 range but that is still unlikely. Ther's one thing, though. Palpy's office (Mace windu duel) and the senate (Yoda duel) are in separate locations, so that pretty much kills that idea. I can think of some past examples where TLG has not stuck to the exact image. (eg. Cloud City) I think expanding the scene this way would be good although the overall detail would have to decrease a lot by doing this. I actually think the new Clone Commander is Fives from Rookies!!!! His name is Commander Stone Quote

Klaus-Dieter Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 A bit late but nevertheless: Thank you very much for the pic of the RSD, legomilk! Although I'm really no CW fan (I really did not like the movie which was shown last summer in cinema - ) I must say that I really that RSD! Supposably that's because all the big and harmonic designed vehicles have a big emission! The Palpatine minifig and the two Senate Guards look really with there corny and crude colors - but since this should be a CW set this has to be like that. Although this RSD really looks I surely won't buy this set since I don't collect non-OT sets in the Lego SW theme. the venator is an iconic ship comes out ep2, clone wars and ep3. its great we're getting it mini fig scale, but i would still like to get in a UCS version. Dark Brickz, I highly doubt that TLG will release a minifig-scaled version of the RSD and an UCS version in the same year - that would be totally counterproductive! But I have no clue which UCS set TLG will release this year - difficult to say since it might be a vehicle or a character and from CW or OT. I could well imagine that the rumours for a minifig-scaled Tantive 4 (which we heard a while back) were right since this vehicle is - at least since the release of the minifig-scaled ISD - really, really needed and it would be a perfect 10-years-set! But if it is released I hope that it won't cost as much as 10188 or the UCS MF! Btw: Do you think that the Mon Calamari Cruiser set will be announced at the US toy fair only without pics (which would make absolutely no sence since we already know the set name, the set number and a circa price) or with pics? Klaus-Dieter Quote
TheTacoMan Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 so the fact that the Venator pic was asked to be taken down byTLG practically confirms it as a set right? I'm fairly unimpressed at this point, unless it has been drastically changed, it looks like a simple recolouring of the ISD from 2006. I'm very interested in the mid-scale falcon, we have yet to hear ANYTHING about that except that it possibly exists. The UCS was awesome, but one of the biggest complaints it had was the lack of interior, i hope this new mid-scale falcon at least has a decent, playable interior. Again, i'm thinking similar to the mini-fig scaled ISD for the millennium falcon Quote

Again, i'm thinking similar to the mini-fig scaled ISD for the millennium falcon I hope it will be a minifig scale Falcon with an interior and not some kind of an oversized mini model. Although I highly doubt that there even will be a Millenium Falcon in late 2009. Quote
Brickmaster Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 I was actually fairly pleased with the Venator model. I have no huge fan afflictions with any star wars, but the Senate commandos looked just plain cool, and the Venator is much more complex in the way of shapes and such. The ISD is just a large triangle, the Venator has many more slopes and such which make it much more interesting and plain cool looking. If the thing doesn't cost too much, I will most likely buy it. (Only star wars set as of recent I'd be interested in) I really like the look of the blue commandos, though. Quote

Although I highly doubt that there even will be a Millenium Falcon in late 2009. 7778 Mid-scale Millennium Falcon ™Pieces: ? Price: ? EUR / ? USD / ? GBP Minifigs: ? Release: Unknown 2009 According to the rumors (posted in the first post of this topic), we will get a Millenium Falcon. And the mid-scale indicates that it'll be scaled as the other released non-UCS Millenium Falcons. Don't mix the idea of UCS with that of the regular system (minifig scale). We'll never see a UCS set with interior. They're not meant to be played with. Exceptions within the 10000-numbers would be the Death Star and Cloud City playsets. But they're not "true" UCS sets anyways. Quote
KimT Posted January 12, 2009 Author Posted January 12, 2009 and the Sandcrawler (10144) ;) Darn..yes that one too. I guess at some point TLG was undecided on what the 10000's number was used for. They've been used for Legends as well. And the first UCS were number as regular sets. Better stop this UCS discussion and get back on topic Quote
The Crazy One Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 (edited) I really hope the Venator rumours are true but with the pictures, i kind of don't, due to the innacurate designs. Edited January 12, 2009 by The crazy one Quote
