Athos Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Just when I'd decided not to buy any more Star Wars sets... Definitely want to pick up the two OT sets. Particularly the Taun-taun... Not sure about the red star destroyer thing... Steve Quote

Navy Trooper Fenson Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I still guess $25.CopMike What would make that in Euro?^^ Has anyone else noticed that the hoth rebel troopers helmets are different than the old pilot ones? We have a new mold people!! Yes, but I thought that the set doesn´t include Rebels, I thought they would be spared for a first appearance BPs of 2010. Anyway: I couldn´t spot a Navy Trooper. Did anybody else saw him? Sadly I can't see any sign of Luke in the set..I hope they throw in Luke too! Well, I´m not very confident that they throw a complete new minifig in in the last minute. Darth Legolas Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 (edited) Oh...my...!!!!!!! I am sorry Clone Wars, I have to turn on you for one set! That Endor battle set looks SO AMAZING! The same speeders as the Republic Gunship, the famous base, that AT-ST! R2 with new style head, and endor rebels! I love this set!!!!!!!!! Endor base, you are mine! Wout Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 (edited) Oooh, sets where people for years have dreamt of. Hoth Base: Is still not a very big set, but has 2 snowtroopers, 2 Hoth rebels and Han? on a Taun Taun. Also a cannon and some white bricks . Although it has around the 160 pieces I think it will not be 16 us dollar or 16 euro, but around 30 us dollar or 30 euro. Endor Bunker: I see atleast 3 furry Ewoks, 2 Scouttroopers, 2 endorrebels, Leia with greencamouflaged jack, Han, Chewie in a big AtSt, and R2D2. It has also a big bunker (at last, buildings are not common in starwars sets) to conquer. I think this set will be atleast 80 us dollar or 80 Euro, but maybe it will be 90 or 100 us dollar or euro. I think this will be big sellers, But I hope also that these sets will not be Exclusives or only sold at Toys'rús or something like that. Do you read that TLC? Sorry guys for shouting, but I was very annoyed when there was a hothbase last year only on special places to buy, while a tietank I never asked for was available on more places. I heard some people were very excited about the light bluish grey cornerslopes of the endor bunker. Edited January 15, 2009 by Wout Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Let's face it people Neither set is very good A wall we could make ourselves and a square grey box... We will be buying these sets for the figures - ergo we would be buying these sets if they just had nothing but minifigs.... Quote

We will be buying these sets for the figures - ergo we would be buying these sets if they just had nothing but minifigs.... of course! the problem is that TLG can't just sell SW minifigs or they run into violation of their licensing contract. (hasbro will kick up a fuss) most of us know that by now. it has been 10 years since lego SW is in production. Quote
Derek Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Are you kidding me? The Endor set is fantastic! That bunker looks nice, and by the looks of it, it has an interior. The AT-ST is much more detailed than the 2007 version, and the speederbikes and catupult are nice as well. (The Ewoks seriously have catapults, so TLC has a legit reason to put one in) Quote
iH Master 13uilder17 Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Hoth set looks like a bigger battle pack. The Endor bunker looks alright. It has a lot of small stuff, AT-ST, Ewok catapult, Ewok glider, speeders Quote

And it isn't a square gray box for God's sake, it has a shape, it's a bunker. It has interior, features! Even if this set had Luke, and two regular Rebels from the battlepack, I'd still buy this, but the minifigs make it greater! This set is so bloody amazing that I can't describe it! JimboJones Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Well i would like to say thst i am just finishing my collection of clone wars sets and then i will stop collecting but with that sets coming out, it makes me want to keep collecting Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 (edited) Thank you very much for the link, Morgan19! Like always, here my comment to these two sets: 7749 Echo Base: Positive: The design of the turret is great. Now we at long last get our beloved Tauntaun! Negative: The size of the trench is too small! No new minifig, no general on neither the Imperial nor the Rebel side! And again a Hoth Han minifig! Doesn't TLG see that the Tauntaun cries for a Rebel Captain or at least a Hoth Luke minifig?! Conclusion: This set is nice - but really not exceptional! The paritcular at this set is that it includes a Tauntaun. Apart from that it's surely not a bad - but even not an amazing set! I surely would have bought more than one of this set if TLG included a Hoth Rebel Captain instead of this stupid Hoth Han minifig we already had two times! But with the Hoth Han minifig this set is personalised and so it would not make much sense to buy more than one set since I don't want even more Hoth Hans. And collecting tons of Rebels which have no captain to lead them doesn't make fun and is beside from that totally unrealistic. In the movie you can see this Hoth Rebel Captain (I regrettably don't know his name) who looks through his binoclulars. Why did TLG not choose him or a captain in genral?! So I really hope that TLG will release a big Hoth Rebel Base with minimum one Hoth Rebel Captain next year or the year after next year that we at long last can add a Rebel Captain to our Hoth collections!!! 8038 The Battle of Endor Negative: There is no single tree included in this set although this scene plays in the virgin forest! The catapult looks a bit strange. Positive: The AT-ST has a great design! The bunker is bigger than I expected! The minifigs included in this set are great - mainly the Ewoks' Chief, the Endor Rebel Troopers and Endor Leia! Conclusion: This is really an amazing set! The minifig constellation as well as the design are perfectly! Only some trees are missing! It would be nice if the bunker will include a mechanism to blow up. (When you look at the middle of the right side of the bunker there you can see a black cord or something like that. Couldn't that be something to activate a blow-up mechnism?) If not, that's not that bad. Everything important is included in this set - and we even get the Ewoks' Chief! I hope that TLG will continue releasing some more Endor sets in the next years - so we could add some more battle scenes, an Ewok Town and a landing platform with the Imperial Shuttle (with gangway, please!)! Btw: I can't detect the DS Trooper. Do you see him or is there really no? Klaus-Dieter Edited January 15, 2009 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
Deinonychus Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 THERE! THERE'S YOUR DAMN TAUNTAUN. ARE YOU HAPPY NOW? Quote
Future74 Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Great work on those pictures! Keep up the good work It makes me hunger even more. Cant really see negative sides on these sets. Although the price of the Endor set will be one we remember, considering all the minifigures and the AT-ST and bunker. The contents of these sets can still change... since they arent released yet and still (officially) confidential. Quote
Hinckley Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 if these new sets are the real deal, it will be the first time in several years that I want to buy a set more than once. Although the Tauntaun looks a little big, a little disapointed there, it doesn't look that lego. If?? They were removed because they had a TLG Confidential stamp. You still think they might be fake? Although the price of the Endor set will be one we remember, considering all the minifigures and the AT-ST and bunker. The contents of these sets can still change... since they arent released yet and still (officially) confidential. You're right, Future74 - TLG may change the contents of these sets. But I see no reason why they should. Plus they surely already know that we did now see the pics and consequently would be very angry when they eliminate one of the minifigs in the Endor set. Imo they could well eliminate one minifig in the Hoth set - namely Hoth Han - every other minifig would be better than him! Sorry for being that unmastered - but I'm really when I see TLG releasing Hoth Han for the third time - and with this giving away the chance for other much better and much more important minifigs for the Battle of Hoth! I think that the price of 37 Euros for the Echo Base sounds very realistic. The price for the Endor playset is hard to say. It could be 100-130 Euros. But more than 100 Euros would really be usury (although there is no doubt that it's an amazing set! )! Plus I'm a bit sceptic about that - if TLG releases it for more than 100 Euros - it will sell good in general toy shops. So I think it might cost 100 Euros - which would not be cheap but a fair price for such a set! Klaus-Dieter Quote
KimT Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 The box designs look final, and most often when prelims are leaked it is as follows: finished box design = finished set prelim boxdesign = unfinished set. These two are definately finished. Now if you had the large size pics, then you'd be able to see that all figs are as they should be (no replacement torsos or anything like that). MaxGoof Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 At least Lego gave the Endor rebel troops new faces, I think the Hoth ones have normal faces. "Sniff" I'm gonna miss Clone Wars.. I haven't seen anything to indicate that the Clone Wars theme is going away. Since the series is expected to continue for years, I'd imagine the Legos will as well? Quote
