KimT Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 They need to have an idea of who and what will be in the set before they start making new molds. Precisely. Making a 'preliminary' version of a set is essential. When the preliminary version has been accepted, then the work starts on molds, modifying the set as per requests (depending on parts value i.e chrome versus pearl, design remarks by Lucas and so forth), designing the finished boxes and stuff like that. Which is why mostly preliminary pictures are in the retailer catalog - it might also explain why we sometimes notice that pictures in LEGO magazines aren't coherent with the real-deal sets. I hope we'll be getting new alien heads - more Greedo-heads would be super. And it does look like the Shuttle will feature such, but we never know until we see the final set pictures. Quote

Will the Onocadda head have a new mold, like Yoda's head? I hope it doesn't. I like the old Greedo-style head. Maybe it'll be rubbery! Doubt it. Quote
Skipper 24 Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Most certainly it will be Greedo head as they already have the mold and it looks right. Quote
Legoman Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Most certainly it will be Greedo head as they already have the mold and it looks right. But don't forget, after a while lego get's rid of molds after a while hence new certian molds exist *cough*ewoks*cough* It's a tough bet to say lego still has that mold... (but don't get me wrong - gredo heads are mint!) I just hope they don't make it a new CW version Anyway I'm lovin hoth   I'll get mabye... 2-5? (thats a lot of han's ) Endor is good...... OK, it's awsome I it. I think I'll get 1-2 Quote
Skipper 24 Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 The Ewok mold is new . I thought it was just recoloured. Must be the blurry prelim pics. Quote

Darth Legolas Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Well I'm pretty sure it's new. Decide for yourself It looks like the piece is now multicolored, so it's brown where it should be and tan where it should be, and the only other difference I see is that there are no little ties on the new one... but hey, it's just prelim. And a while back someone said that the midget legs might bend, but now I'm pretty sure they can't. Quote
Legoman Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 To me it looks like its now smoother and... kinda cleaner if you know what i mean... no sticky-out furry bits. also the top-back of the mold is bigger IMO... Quote
The Who Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 I looked at a zoom. He's right. The jetpacks are attached around the neck and very similar to Boba's, but these have poitier spikes, but there are definitely three points. So there's a new mold! Can you post a link to a pic we can zoom in on? Quote

I wonder if the Scouts have printing on the back of their torsos or even the unlikely chance of them having those weird backpack things. Edited January 24, 2009 by CloneCommanderDelta7 Quote
Lord Santos Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 (edited) I wouldn't bet on that... Where is the 501st trooper comment? Edited January 25, 2009 by Lord Santos Quote

Darth Legolas Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Also if I may add the eyes are further apart. I do hope that the jet packs are a new mold. Right now, I really wish I could post that picture, but it'd be illegal, and would get removed. I see, three circles, making a slight triangle, meaning the middle one pops out more. Then, they each have a very thin spike sticking up, and a stick between with a wring around it. Just like this: Quote

ROCON Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 (edited) C'mon don't be lazy now, just head over to brickshelf and type in 2009 star wars and look at the one that has a brighter color by tompo. And yes the new molds look great however, still no color. :/ Edited January 25, 2009 by ROCON Quote
Skipper 24 Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I fail to see the jetpack 'spikes'. Could someone please point them out or outline them or something on a picture. Quote
Millacol88 Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 (edited) Yes, your right, it looks basically like a box, none of this spikes stuff people have been talking about. Now that you mention it, it looks kind of ugly, I hope they change it before the set actually comes out. Edited January 25, 2009 by millacol88 Quote
-JD- Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 LEGO sets have not been as good as they used to be, so hopefully they will prove me wrong and make an awesome new mold. I still love the Snail Tank and how it is smaller. It looks quite cute actually... JD Quote

JD Yes, I'm pretty sure we're getting a new mold, its just that the new mold looks like a box with some "rockets" on the bottom. It just doesn't look like what its supposed to. Oh well, they're still prelim... Quote
THE-FORCE Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 You know who I miss in he Venator? Admiral Wullf Yularen, he is just a character who I need to have! I know, it doesn't have to be his ship, but I would certainly like to see him in a set. Also wondering when the episode with Palpatine in the Venator will be on. Greets, THE-FORCE! Quote
Skipper 24 Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 He might not be in an episode on board a Venator. Plo Koon wasn't/hasn't and the box art showed Teth. But he probably will anyway. Quote
Darth Legolas Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 (edited) @Skipper 24: The reason why you can't see the spikes is that you're using a 3 month earlier design! C'mon people, if you are looking plainly at the picture where only one jet trooper is wearing a pack, shouldn't you know it's a bit early? edit:removed. "confidential" If it gets removed, don't come crying to me. And now the pictures removed. Last time I try that. Edited January 25, 2009 by Darth Legolas Quote
amateurnewbie Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Zoomed in pic of jet pack. The newer pic that is. edit:removed. "confidential" Quote
Millacol88 Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Although you both posted confidential pics, you raise a good point. That newer design looks way better than the earlier one. Quote
