ADHO15 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Well, gentlemen, I don't fully understand the general critisizm (judging by comments on Flickr.) of this beauty: That's a nice 25$ set with great playability and nice design. Playability: Since Tank droids are vulnerable from behind, a choice of jet/jump troopers is great. Kids may "blow up' the tank from behind, "jump" on it, etc.... Design: Looks exactly like in CW cartoon, will look great together with other CIS vehicles. Has great colors, unlice the previous one. Even flick-fire missiles look nice here, just like with AAT. Plus to that w get 2 battle droids, and one can never have enough of them, can he? ) Good day, gentlemen! ) Edit: Speaking of, AT-OT.... It's AT-OT, that's blown up by Octuptarra in ep.3 is it not? ) Do you have the set or just a picture? Also, no it's not on Mygeeto. In episode 3, it's seen walking through the jungles of Felucia with AT-APs and AT-TEs behind Aayla Secura. The UT-AT (Unstable Terrain Artillery Transport) is blown up by an Octuparra droid behind Ki-Adi-Mundi. Quote
The Penguin Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) Oooooh! ) Lok Durd! )))))))) Ahem, pardon, ADHO15! ) No, just the picture from no_onion. ) I see, thanks for clarification. Though I still do not fully understand the purpose of AT-OT, a huge open tank with small amount of firepower.... Slow and seems to be quite vulnerable.... ) Oh, well! ) Works for my Droid Army! ) Good day, gentlemen! ) Edited February 16, 2009 by The Penguin Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Oh my... TLC really are going all-out for the 10th Anniversary, aren't they? Even the "extra" characters on Endor are getting a cool individual face. Palpy is looking fun, though I'm still not sold on the CW look. What's with his cape? If this is a step closer to different kinds of capes, I hope TLC does a trenchcoat soon. (Which taps into SW, actually... didn't Han sport one on Endor?) Ackbar is looking fantaaaastic! Awesome set, the AT-OT. Though considering I'm more of a minifig man as opposed to vehicles, I'm passing on this one. But it might be the coolest set ever for SW vehicle aficionados? Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) Thank you very much to all of you who posted links and pictures of the new and awesome sets! Although I'm not interested in all that CW stuff I really must acknowledge that this exclusive Republic Gunship and AT-OT set looks absolutely ! To the sets I aim to buy: Echo Base: I already wrote what I think about it. The Battle of Endor: The exploding feature on the Endor Base isn't as good as LEGO made out. Only four panels come off and the whole base doesn't collapse. Ah well. I totally agree with you, Jammiedodger714! Please forgive me but that exploding feature is really laughable! Either the whole base should collapse or we don't need that feature. But who cares about ... Great to see some interior in the bunker! The design and all these minifigs are totaly awesome! Home One Mon Calamari Cruiser: The price is regrettably more than I expected - supposably 120 Euros. But: The bridge contains some great interior! The design and all these minifigs are totaly awesome! Well at this moments I really think the TLC has another "Super Set" yet to see the light . Just think about it? The TLC always launch a big set around Sep-Nov and commonly is a big exclusive. Anyone remember when the TLC asked us which set we want as THE 10th anniversary set and that it is going to be released in October of this year? I still think they are going to release it and that it isn´t this new Dropship-AT-OT set . I thought the same when I saw the pic of this new exclusive set, darkrebellion. There were some rumours that there'll be a "Tantive 4 UCS playset" (whatever that means - supposably something like the UCS RBR but with some minifigs and interior). I really, really hope that we'll get a (affordable) Tantive 4 with interior and minifigs this year! I mean: There's now a very big ship (the Venator) and a huge exclusive set (the Republic Gunship and At-OT) for the CW fans - so there really should be one for OT fans, too! Future74 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) Though I still do not fully understand the purpose of AT-OT, a huge open tank with small amount of firepower.... Slow and seems to be quite vulnerable.... ) Oh, well! ) Works for my Droid Army! ) Thanks for the Snail Tank picture. Vulnerable indeed, thats why it was only used as a cargo walker behind enemy lines. From Wookieepedia: As an armored vehicle, the AT-OT differed from the other walkers in Kuat Drive Yards' AT-series, as it was not designed for combat. Instead, it was used to reinforce armies behind friendly lines as a cargo walker.Even though these eight-legged walkers were well armored and equipped with four laser cannons for defense, their open tops made them extremely vulnerable to attacks from above. AT-OT walkers had enough seats for at least 34 clone troopers, but they could carry more troops if required, thanks to the open-bed design. With the open top design making transport of troops a risky endeavor, the AT-OT was commonly used far from the front lines, only traveling far enough to deposit troops at the outer perimeters of battles. They were used to good effect in heavily forested terrain, where cover was relatively easy. That being said it's unlogical to combine this with the LAAT/c, as it doesnt need to be airlifted into battle. To be honest for me it doesnt matter if it suits its purpose, just that it's well designed/accurate Edited February 16, 2009 by Future74 Quote
Skipper 24 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I'm sure someone said the senate commandos gun was different? Is it? Is Mon Mothma's hair just the same as Anakin's? Quote
legopiotre Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 These pictures are awesome and we can finally have more details about this summer sets. The AT-OT with LAAT is a great surprise and a must by in my opinion. I agree that a jedi would have been welcome ut we can not ask too much, it is one of the best sets in term of vehicules. I only hope we will get a set for separatists like this one. In two years, TLG will have made most of the important Republic ground vehicules. It is wonderfull to see that a big Republic army can be so easily made now. The new details we get are very interesting and I am definitly found of the new Endor set. I think this year will be very expensive so maybe sets that are not as great as the other such as the clone wars Y-wing or the Venator (I am a little bit disappointed with this one, I hope we will get a UCS version like the ISD) won't be bought. Thank you very much for the pics. We now have only to wait for the sets themselves Quote
Trans-Yellow Soldier Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 for some reason I cant stand what they did to the guns on the awing that comes with the Home One set. does anyone feel the same? Quote
hollisbrick Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Is there an interior in the shuttle? Quote
ADHO15 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Is there an interior in the shuttle? If there is, it isn't very big. If you look back a couple of pages for the Nute Gunray close-up, you will see he's sat on a sled. I think that will just slide in and out with him sat on it. Also, there will probably just be room for one battle droid in the cockpit. for some reason I cant stand what they did to the guns on the awing that comes with the Home One set. does anyone feel the same? The A-wing in the Home One set looks to be based on this picture. It is quite accurate. Quote
The Penguin Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) Is there an interior in the shuttle? As far as I can see, not much: We have place for droid pilot, and some cabin ( ) for Nute Gunray, who seems to be able to pop out when you swing that technis stir and open the doors. ) Good day, gentlemen! ) Edited February 16, 2009 by The Penguin Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 The A-wing in the Home One set looks to be based on this picture. It is quite accurate. I've got two questions since I can't remember having seen the green A-Wing in episode 6: So is there a difference in the style of a green and a red A-Wing (apart from the colour)? Is the green A-Wing bigger than the red one? Klaus-Dieter Quote

-JD- Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Nute Gunray looks gooooood! I can imagine him sledging down a mountain on Hoth! I'll be getting: 2 Snail Tanks 1 Shuttle (maybe one more later) 1 AT-OT w/ Dropship 2 Hoth Bases 1 Venator 1 Endor 1 Mon Cal. and 1 Pirate Tank (may get 2 if it is £20-£25) JD Quote
General Magma Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) The sets are all really great! Sadly I can't buy all of them.. This is what I will get most likely: Venator Yes, it may be a bit too small, but it is a great addition to your collection and is an important ship used by the Republic. The Senate Commando's look great, Palpatine too. A few more minifigures would of have been nice, but this is ok too.. A pilot, a gunner, two Senate Commando's and Palpatine. It looks like there will be a red lightsaber too. The interior on the front of the ship is Palpy's office - in the Venator. With a few custom Jedi (Eeth Koth and Saessee Tiin), Anakin, Mace, and Fisto, you could recreate the scene from episode III - in Clone Wars style. It looks like you move the side wing-thingies, and there might be a weapon storage. A great set, good enough to me. Snail Tank Another great set, I will possibly buy 2 or 3 of these, but atleast one. Including two Jet troopers, two Battle Droids and a catapult-thing to launch the troops into battle! It isn't expensive at all, and is a great addition to your Separatist army. Sep. Shuttle Small, but great! Comes with Senator Onaconda Farr, Nute Gunray, two regular Battle Droids and one pilot. I must get this, later I might get a second. Not much interior, but it's fine as long as there is a cockpit and in the back you can open something to put Gunray or another minifig in it. Pirate Tank This one looks good too, I may get 2 or more of them if they are cheap. If around $35, it will be one for then.. I already have Obi-Wan from the LAAT, but I can always use another, steal his lightsaber and give it to one of my custom Jedi! I hope there will be a pirate leader in the set. Obi-Wan, and two pirates. I wonder which guns will be used in this set, and I am hoping for some good Weequay heads. As you can see, I am not much of an OT fan - yes, I do like the CW/PT much more TBH. The AT-OT set is too expensive, I will wait till it goes on sale and then I'll see wether I'll buy it or not. Captain REX Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I Think TLC just killed my wallet DAMN! the AT-OT looks hot stuff! I also saw it's a UCS because the number starts with 10k. too bad they don't put Captain rex in it, because I don't gonna buy an AT-TE now I know this one is coming! I'll buy one for sure, or two, since the venator looks a little small now.PS: I'm searching for a Rex minifig (without gear, doesn't matter), so you can always PM me! (I'm posting this here beceuse i can't make a topic in the sales and deals!) I second that I wasnt able to get a Rex minifig and i cant post a topic in the trade forums till i have 350 more posts. I didn't really want the AT-TE. Quote
MicroM Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Wow this has been quite the day. I had been checking for Toyfair pics all day on Sunday (being ahead in Australia, I wasn't sure when we'd see pics). What a surprise 10195 was, well done TLC in keeping this close to their chest (I wonder if that's a reason they didn't do an exclusive Jedi with it, keep the chance of leaks down, if someone had seen a new Jedi they would have been asking where it belonged). So after seeing all the pictures I am totally thrilled about the 2009 wave, TLC you have done an excellent job. Here's my thoughts; 7749 - Echo base Have been gagging for a TaunTaun for years - so well done TLC in finally delivering. The little base part isn't too bad, though Im sure the turrent could be better, but this probably keeps the price down, so I'm OK with that. Good collection of figs, though would have loved a Hoth Luke instead (has Luke been banned by TLC??) 8038 - Battle of Endor Really well done. I like the look of the AT-ST. The minifigs look really good, I like how they have named the ewoks and done a pretty good job at liking them to their namesakes. The Endor troopers are awesome. Even the bunker looks well done and this is a great all in one play set - not that I suppose I'll play with it that often. 7754 - Home One Great minifigs and I think the playset itself is pretty well put together. I like the AWing and even its platform is nicely done. I was never a big fan of the landing platform for the CC kit, but this one has some nice looking features. I really love that little arena where the Death Star is (and that is a great part as well), I can't wait to get this and put the minifigs all around listening to Madine and Mothma Now onto the CW line 10195 - Republic drophsip and AT-OT Speechless. I would never have guessed they'd ever have done a kit like this. I love the concept, well done on the number of Clones (I think the 8 is pretty fair). The colour scheme looks good, the design of both the vehicles looks really good. And to top if off the way they connect them seems very well done, and also a nice feature that the AT-TE will also connect. It is a hefty price, and being in Australia, this will be dear and if its an exclusive to shop@home, then that's further cost to add, but this will be a must have for me. 7748 - Corporate Alliance Droid I have always liked this droid and this version seems like a decent upgrade from the last. Nice they included 2 clones and 2 BD's, always like to get a few more Clones. This will be a multiple kit for me, probably stops me buying a few more Clone BP's, I'll just wait and get these. 8036 - Separatist Shuttle I think this is a good looking kit and the figs are a bonus for me. 8037 - Y-Wing I must admit I really only liked this vehicle after seeing it recently in the TV series. Now that I've seen a good close up of the actual kit I'm really fond of it. I still think they could have given up 2 Clonies and new astromech and Admiral Yularen. I assume they don't cause kids want the main characters, but I wonder if this really is the case. I'm sure different figs wouldn't have hurt the sales of this kit. 8039 - Venator I was not interested in this kit, outside of the Palpatine figure. But after seeing the playability of the kit, it's now on my wish list. Great move to put that handle on it TLC, nice touch. I really like the gunner station and the figs are all really good. Who wouldn't have liked more, but given the new molds for the commandos I think it's fair enough. All in all an awesome line up. I just have to find someway of paying for it all Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 The LAAT/C AT-OT set is already on S@H but not able to be ordered. http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?...n=245&d=100 I already bookmarked the link and will order it as fast as I can. Sadly I have to displace a few other sets from my "to-buy list" to afford the money. Bye bye Orc Castle... Hello LAAT/C!!! Quote
TheDarkness Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I too am speechless. I have 3 each of the AT-TE and RGS sets, with the intention of converting the third of each into a dropship. This though makes that a moot point. I love the sets being released, but this one blew me away. It is listed at S@H already, though without pricing for us Aussies. I think I will pay a heap for it! http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?...n=520&d=322 Quote
VBBN Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 7749 - Echo base Nice, But not my thing. 8038 - Battle of Endor Looking good. But the price might turn me off. 7754 - Home One Same as Echo base. 10195 - Republic drophsip and AT-OT Woah. WINWIWNWIWNW. Thatis the most amazing set I have seen from SW for a long time. VERY nice job lego. 7748 - Corporate Alliance Droid Who can't love this little gem. 8036 - Separatist Shuttle MEh, doesn't compare tot he droid gunship. 8037 - Y-Wing Since I don't watch the CW, I hate this set. It may change though. 8039 - Venator Yay, handle! Great Commandos. But other than that, the ship is a bit shabby. Quote

Skipper 24 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Available March! This sounds great although if I get it it won't be till the second half of the year. Has a lego set ever been on coming soon before? Quote
