VBBN Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Eurobricks Community; I knew this time would come, and I was right. My Dark Age. Most lego fans have one, and now it is my turn. Things such as school, life, love, and other hobbies like photography have come into my life larger now, and I have stepped away from Lego. Now I'm not completely gone from lego, as I will grab a set when I can, and I will certainly be here for Toy Fair. But my activity will be significantly less here, at least until I get out of this time. No worries, if you send me a PM, I will answer it. But I would much prefer you to Flickrmail me, as that is where my mainstation is right now.(my photography hobby) Now, a bit of an explaination as to why I slip into this time... First and foremost, life and love(includes girls). I have a girlfriend and many other friends, and spending time with them takes away from time on here. My life now revolves around my other hobbies, that will lead to a furture carrer, like design and photography. You may notice that I have deleted all lego material off of my flickr, and that a couple reviews(vorox and holiday train) are no longer in use. I now post professional images and the like. A few of my old contacts have been removed. Only those who I wish to keep will be kept. Secondly, school and other hobbies. My other hobbies, as mentioned, will hopefully lead me to future careers. School is another object that deflects the time I have on here, especially with college preperation. And lastly, the quality of lego. For me, 2008 wasn't a fantastic year for lego, and the only thing that intrigues me about 2009 is SW and Agents. Even then, they aren't amazing. And this, of course, takes me away. So my friends, share your thoughts on my departure. I shall try to do what I can regarding the Academy. Alex~ Quote
Buttons Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 That is sad to hear indeed. But what is to become of BFM? Buttons Quote
Natman8000 Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Well, at least we traded before... aww shucks, Ill miss you. But dont stray from lego. Lego is the past, present and future. Quote
Siegfried Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Well I won't get into your dislike of 2008 LEGO (I loved last years sets!), but I do have one question; what about Module City? I've been waiting for this for ages! Did I miss it? Eitherway, good luck! Try to drop in and say "hi" to the LEGO community (not just here!) once in a while. Quote
hollisbrick Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 This is quite sad But good luck in the future! And with your GF Quote
Lego12 Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Are you serious? My best friend is in a............"dark age"? What!?! Well, many people I know have gone into a dark age, like ExoBuilder. Didn't want to put you on the spot. Ok, I did! BFM will be run by me, so its not shutting down, no worries Buttons. I hope I never have to go into a dark age. Anyways, good luck, even though I don't approve. Quote
Ak-47 Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Sad to see you go. Hope you still put in some words here (or anywhere) every now and then. Have fun out there ~Ak-47 Quote
WhiteFang Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 VBBN, it's a surprise to know about your departure. As much as possible, I hope you will still come by and visit us. Furthermore, I will need you to do a very big favour for me and I hope you are able to aid me in this aspect. Kindly upload your reviews' pictures in another hosting site such as Brickshelf. I don't think it will be helpful for a review, having without any pictures but text and I hope you can make sure that the broken links are replaced with the updated links. Thanks in advance, and I hope one day, you will come out of your dark age. If you want to discuss anything with the teachers, drop us a note. Quote
AwesomeStar Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Don't go! I wanted some grading (from you, ofc) on my Academy review, when its finished! Sad to hear your going into the Dreaded Dark Ages, but I hope that for you there is Lego-y sunshine at the end of thsi dark tunnel. So, sorry your going, and look after that girlfriend. If she's good enough to take you away from Lego, she's worth keeping, hehe Quote
hewkii9 Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 We'll miss you, it's too bad that you're leaving. You've really helped out a lot, as far as I can tell. Best wishes for what's next! And remember, Lego [and hopefully EB] will always be around. Quote
Eilif Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Sorry to hear about your impending Dark Ages. Sounds like you've given it some good thought though. And of course if you should decide to return to the brick someday, the AFOL community has always been very good about re-welcoming those who come back. Blessings in your future whether it be LEGO-less or merely less-LEGO. Quote
VBBN Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 Thanks guys. As I said earlier, I'm not leaving here for good. IN fact, my main departure will be March-May. I plan to post as much as I can here since the toy fair is around. And don't worry, I have not blocked lego out of my life---I just finished a huge secret project. Lets say it's bigger than the new Venator. Stay Tuned. It is SW. I just need to get some pics of it. :) Quote

Holodoc Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 First and foremost, life and love(includes girls). I have a girlfriend and many other friends, and spending time with them takes away from time on here. My life now revolves around my other hobbies, that will lead to a furture carrer, like design and photography. If there is ONE good reason to step away from LEGO, this has to be it. And I would like to add: If you cannot combine both aspects, you surely have made the right decision! And lastly, the quality of lego. For me, 2008 wasn't a fantastic year for lego, and the only thing that intrigues me about 2009 is SW and Agents. Even then, they aren't amazing. I can´t follow you here. As Sinner already pointed out, in 2008 and 2009 we are given great models. (Not all of them of course). It was nice to have you here and if you ever feel like coming home you will be very welcome! Take care and God bless you. Quote
Tim Bit Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Sorry to hear about your passing into the dark ages. Good luck with your hobbies, school, and most of all your girl. I'm excited about this moc of yours. Have fun and stay connected to us. Quote
Sandy Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 VBBN, I'm sorry to hear your lack of time, but I don't believe "Dark Age" is something one really chooses to go into voluntarily. It just happens. And now it's happening to you, unfortunately. What I have gathered, the Dark Age is the time after youth when a person stops playing with LEGO, up until he or she becomes an AFOL. Some people don't go through it at all, while most people who used to play with LEGO don't really recover from it. I hope you'll recover from your Dark Age eventually and rediscover the joys of building with LEGO. You're just 16, about the same age I was when I totally stopped touching my LEGO bricks. Just don't fight back when the urge returns to you, like I did for several years before I finally gave in and started buying LEGO. Best of luck to you! Quote
I Scream Clone Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Well said Sandy, I feel the same way, I denied my urge for about a year, and missed some sweet SW sets that I still kick myself about. To VBBN, you may or may not emerge from your dark ages, but try hanging on to your favourite sets, otherwise you may kick yourself later Best of luck chasing the women Quote
VBBN Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 Thanks again guys, :) I'm on here this weekend to manage some trades, in case you are wondering. ;) As for my recovery, I know it will come. Another reason I am out of buying lego at the moment, is to focus on my other toy hobby, Transformers. And I'm sure that will help. Quote
Legoman Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Sad to see you go. I'll find your lack of presence disturbing I hope you don't go for good. Good luck with ya Gal. Have a great time celebrating growing up! I'm sure you will If she's good enough to take you away from Lego, she's worth keeping, hehe This i disaggree with... A good GF would understand IMO... for me anyway. God Bless, Legoman Quote
Brickaholic Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 (edited) Wow. EB and especially TT will be less posted on. It's sad to see you go. Hope you have a wonderful life my friend! And have a great time with your GF. I think they're a waste of time, but that's just my opinion. Luckily, my dark ages haven't came yet, but I'm not sure if they ever will...
