You're too hung up on this "good versus evil"-thing, in my opinion. In most real-life wars, it hasn't been about "good countries" versus "evil countries", just different sides. Morals are such a subjective thing.

...

You maybe right, but actually the "good versus evil"- thing is exactly TLC´s principle since some years, there is always the one, more than good faction, fighting the really, really evil-ones. In Castle it was first King Leo againt the evil looking Bull-Clan, than the Rainbow-Knights against Vladek, the King of Evilness, now it´s the Humans versus the Undead or the Humans allied with the Dwarves against the Orcs.

The good Agents fight against Dr.Inferno, the crazy "I want to conquer the whole World"- Baddie, the brave humans have to defend themselves against the horrible Mars Aliens. And even though they may look cute, there is no doubt, that the Power Miners Monsters are not the good faction.

So I highly doubt, that (if there will be elves) it will be Dwarfes vs. Elves. That wouldn´t be lego in the 21st Century ;).

Honestly I think it's quite likely that LEGO will make an Elves theme in the coming years.

A) These hints do mean something. It would surprise me if LEGO made all this for no reason.

B) Castle is running out of places to go. The trolls VS knights thing can only be milked for so long.

C) Elves would be awesome.

Like? You can only make so many fantasy enemies before you run out of cliches. We've had all of the obvious choices, like dragons, skeletons, orcs (or trolls), and wizards. What else can we do?

I think Lego will make Elves vs Dwarfs Sets. That's why we haven't dwarfs in new sets right now.

That's generally seen as more of an age-old rivalry, not outright warfare (read Tolkein's The Silmarillion or Unfinished Tales for the cause).

Regarding possible "dark elves" (or "black dwarves" - Narnia), these are delving too far into Dungeons and Dragons or World of Warcraft e.t.c. to make it a feasible line for TLC. In the same way, you won't see a balrog, but you will see a dragon.

And the Dwarf line can only go so far - they're far more limited in terms of set design than soldiers, so that's my suggestion for the lack of new dwarf sets.

Is this a big hint. Well... time will tell... I am convinced the elves will come out eventually. :classic: I think it is even possible for a late fall release similar to the dwarf mine two years ago.

I know, I know, an official in the lego group said no elves in 2009... :sceptic: Again time will tell...

The forestmen coming back is much less likely right now imo. This is called the fantasy era for lego castle after all.

I am absolutely certain about one thing, TLC will continue the good vs evil factions they have been making recently. I attended a lecture by a Lego company designer at one of the conventions last year. In that lecture he said that children really connected well in focus groups with the good guys vs obvious bad guys in the castle line toys. He said the preference was something approximating 90% of children preferred this to two sides where neither side is obviously bad. He also noted that TLC was surprised by the overwhelming results and that is why they came out with the skeletons in the first place. As has been noted it is relatively obivous to tell who the bad guys are in all of the current sets.

That being said, I do not think that an entire new evil faction will come out with the elves when they come. Although it is a possibility. The skeles are still going strong after 2 years and the trolls are only a bit over a year old at this point. That evil witch has yet to come out in a play set. I could see her leading some more skeletons in the forest vs the elves. Whatever happens isn't it fun to speculate...

I wouldn't mind seeing small brown trolls (the same color as the giant troll in Dwarves' Mine) and call them goblins.

Ghouls. Zombies. Vampires. Or Lego could make an original enemy horde. Medieval aliens.

A line of goblins would be awesome! Pint-sized badies!!!!

But back to the main topic, I would not be surprised to see Forestmen instead of Elves.

Time will tell, and yes, the speculation is fun!!!!

I am not a big fan of the whole idea of big pointy ears for elves. I think a different face with more distinct features and new hair and headgear would suffice. stash2sixx, i would actually be surprised to see Forestmen instead of Elves. I think Lego would continue with the whole fantasy idea and expand into the Elves. Of course, with the small summer line, Castle might be dying out.

That doesn't sound "medieval" to me; more like some kind of halloween theme.

I guess I'm just more interested in seeing a Forestmen revival instead of an Elf line.

Let us hope for both!

A Forestmen redo would be cool and fit in nicely with the current Castle line. And it seems, a lot of folks are interested in an Elvish faction.

I already posted this on the "how much do you want elves...." thread, but I should probably put it here also.

At Brickworld 09 opening session, Steve Witt said that there are no plans for elves, and that it was just an artist trying to fill some space. Sorry.

I would prefer forestman instead of elves to be honest. A re-release of those old classic and beautiful elements with some new ones...a dream come true! I would like to see some form of hideout in the trees, and smaller sets like ' Krakin' Attackin' ' except with more figures and scenary. :classic: The idea for elves does sound quite good, but I think forestman would sell much better because kids love Robin Hood and that sort of thing.

Greetings,

JD

This is true, I'm the one who asked Steve. After the ceremony, I got Steve on the side and explained the situation here on the forums. He said it was ok to quote him on his statements about elves or any thing else he might have said.

So to say again, Lego's North American office says "No elves, and there never will be."

Ahab out.................................

Castle might be dying out.

Nope not yet still one of their top sellers, especially MMV.

As a rule corporations deny, deny, deny until they absolutely just can't anymore.

Its not even really considered lying anymore.

Also the amount of excitement for elves that is brewing across the forums is huge, TLG wouldn't be too smart to not cash in on it either next year or the year after. There's alot of possibility for the line and right now it looks like for every good faction we get a bad faction, so when we do get elves maybe we could get a baddie human faction as well. That would be great.

Well, I for one am really hoping for another human faction.. But maybe it is best to continue this in another tread?

Or can those treads discussing elves be merged? Becasue now we are discussing on several treads at once.
