This is my first pirate themed ship, got it on the age of 5 and I played a lot with it. With only one cannon it is a bit underarmed, and the collapsing mast can be very anoying. But it's a great addition to my collection

where to start? okay gave it 3/5, I was thinking to give it 2 but there are so many good pieces in this set too, so that is too low-score. I like the sails and the white hull very much. the green/yellow colours don't fit at all! TLC should at least put there more green and yellow to make it look better, but now it looks just ugly in some parts.. *n* I never bought this ship because i hated TLC back then, I was so keen to go into the store where are ALL the new pirate sets..I was so disappointed back then when I was staring legoshelf in the store.. There I was cursing "These are the grand new big lego pirate sets I've been waiting for a year!" Luckily i found out that there is a western theme :-D

back to the ship..one good thing about this ship that you could easily improve that by removing or adding some colours to the ship. but this ship was way too expensive so many of us couldn't buy more than one ship.. now when I'm looking at it I see a lot of potential and I might just buy 2 of these someday and make a really good new ship!

I bought this ship last year brand new in box for only 10 euro's! Somebody sold it on the internet for this amazing price.

As pointed out by a lot of other members, over the years this topic covers :-$ , it is indeed to colorful, but it has some nice features.

I made some alterations to it, like you can see here,

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=167383

taking out the green pieces (except for the back window) and adding some more red and some more armada soldiers. No pictures of the interior of the cabin are displayed mostly because there is none....

I give this ship a 5/5.

I like this ship, sad the armada never got many sets. Guess they're the descendants of the Wolf Pack.

The white hull is nice, it is very colourful, but I think they work. The lack of mini figs really hurts this set. The flags are excellent IMHO one of the best produced.

3/5

4/5 This set is a very good base to building a wonderful looking ship. It is very elegant looking. It needs more crew at least another cannon and the coloring needs to be changed a bit. Maybe use primarily white and blue in its contruction. As for the falling mast, thats rediculous.

It look royal. It's not the most militant vessel you'll able to find.

I like the colourscheme and the minifigs. Also the cannon is good i think. But I'm not very fond of the back mast and the way you can "destroy" it by pulling a stick.

I gave it 3/5

I, personally, don't like this ship.

Here's why:

1) The colour scheme is shattered by the splashes of green.

2) The collapsing mast is ridiculous and unnecessary.

3) It's missing a cannon and a Spanish soldier.

4) The figurehead is ugly.

5) Why is there a flag on the front mast?

However, there are a few good things about it:

1) Unlike the IFS, it does have some form of anchorage.

2) The flag and sails are great!

3) The white hull can come in handy when making an Imperial Ship MOCs.

4) The minifigures are awesome!

Overall, I give it a 2/5.

Despite all the bad things about it, I might pick this up sometime for spare parts if I can find it at a reasonable price.

I'm more in love with the figs than with this ship itself. But I should be careful because I never had my hands on this ship. It's the only pirate ship that isn't a part of my collection. However, that will change because I was able to buy one on eBay today (for an excellent price of 21 euro). As soon as it has arrived and build I'll be able to share more thoughts on this vessel. I'm more than excited about this newest addition to my collection since these will be my very first Imperial Armada figs.

I gave it a 1/5 because it uses the word Flagship in the name. When I think of a flagship, I think of bigger, grander, and more crew members. This ship is more like a harbor sentry with it's single swivel cannon, small crew, and small size. This ship would have a hard time crossing the Mediterranean let alone the Atlantic. Just my opinion, and I'm known to be wrong...a lot!

A nice review! I like the ship from the beginning because it was my first set.

Unfortunately I was making a review for the armada flagship as well... :pir-hmpf_bad:

Still nicely done because it's nice to see how other people think about the ship. :pir-blush:

Keep up the good work!

The colors red, yellow doesn't looks like ... spanish flag lol Lego wanted to show off to some of you who thought it was a french army when all the Lego pirate themes were Spanish, Pirates and indians arround the caribbean in America Florida, New Orleans, Caribbean Islands etc etc lol guys i dont know if you like it or not the fact is that there is no french army in Lego Pirate themes but Spanish, Pirates ( English and some French ) and Indians and the Fortress like Eldorado (which is spanish) reflects the spanish Fortress arround the Caribbean reather then "French" stuff this was on the age where Cristobal Colon discovered America. :imperialguard_commander1:

I just love the green parts in this set. And I am so wanting the cannon(with green base!)

Thanks for the review. A 3 Star for me, but I like 3.5 better.

I tried to compare the pics of the AF with those of historic spanish tall ships. I must admit that the (overall) shape does correspond with spanish carracks (e.g. Santa Maria)...although it is simplified of course. But the colour scheme of the ship is simply horrible!

Ok, I agree with the lacking items you pointed out. Also the colors do make me want to puke and I am buy new pieces in different colors to make mine look less like a nightmare.

But seriously, even as a kid, I was so disapointed in this ship. I wanted new ships so bad, and when this came out I was seriously bummed. What is this ship good for? Honestly its not good for anything.

The saddest part about this ship is that Renegade Runner is more functional and playable than this.

I do own it, but only because I got it as a present for Christmas, and because I wanted to have them whole set of ships.

Is it better than Caribbean Clipper? NO WAY! The Clipper does have it drawbacks, but at least it looks like a ship and not a circus.
